  1. Granted. You raise people as zombies. I wish for a shard blade.
  2. HATE HIM SO MUCH THAT
  3. That might be the best sanderlanche ever. When all hope seems lost, the main characters see a high storm approaching. Kaladin and the other Heralds make a dramatic reappearance. Big battle begins. It fits the sanderlanche criteria very well.
  4. Because some goats aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some goats just want to watch the world burn. - Alfred, Dark Knight
  5. granted. You fail every other test. I wish that I could charm every person I meet.
  6. It could end up being like how when Kaladin was in the chasms, where Bridge Four had faith in Kaladin returning and others(Dalinar in the chasms scenario) believe he is dead. If that happens, I think that the remains of Bridge Four will believe in Kaladin and others are more skeptical.
  7. Going back to the original point of this thread I expect that using Nightblood at Urithiu would lead to Nightblood quickly going into a food coma as we saw when it killed Rayse. Yes, it would have infinite light but not an infinite stomach. Plus whether Nightblood would even destroy people if it is eating infinite Light. I would expect that you could maybe use Nightblood for maybe a minute before coma. This also explains why none of the Heralds ever used Nightblood. In this case, having infinite light is actually a disadvantage.
  8. Granted. they can only text in one word. I wish for the dark one's own luck.
  9. I am a stick - Sun Tzu, Art of War
  10. I don't know if Dalinar would do this but It's interesting. What Dalinar blackmailed the other shards? He has leverage. He is the one keeping the monster back. What if he contacted the other shards and said, look Odium is a massive problem. If you don't help me defeat him, I'm going to release him on the comerse? This would be simalar to waiting, seeing if the other shards would help and then if they didn't forcing them to help?
  11. Voldemort? 2277
  12. 1282. Keep eye contact when going in for a hug. Trust me, I've had this happen before and it was insanely awkward.
  13. I feel like cultivation will set up on sel. There is so much pontential there with all the magic systems. Plus it currently doesn't have a shard so she could control it. I definetalty feel that cultivation will true and manipulate the other shards, growing the shards of honor into true shards of honor and/or manipulating harmony so it can take actions.
  14. Happy New Year, y'all! Thinking about the contest of champions, why didn't Dalinar, after ascending to honor just wait? I mean the type of contest was never specified. I'm fairly certain there's nothing compelling Dalinar to kill Gavilar. The alternative plan would be for Dalinar to move away from the contest. He doesn't attack Odium and doesn't kill Gavinor. Instead he waits for Gavinor to die of old age. Once Gavinor is dead, team radiant is in control of Alethkar. From there, Dalinar can teach the shard of honor what true honor is. He could also go to the other shards and tell them that Odium's vessel has changed and Todium is extremely dangerous. This would result in a stalemate. In a thousand years, when Odium returned, Dalinar would have the true shard of honor, and exprienced radiants plus maybe help from other shards. The two main objections to waiting are that by withdrawing Dalinar forfeits and that the shard wasn't ready. Waiting for the proper moment is a perfectly valid tactic in warfare. Second, Which situation is better for the shard? having a mentor (or therapist ) who knows what true honor is or having a power-hungry monster to control you? Ultimately, I understand why Dalinar made this choice from a storytelling perspective, but I think that its a pretty rash and inconcieved idea that opens up a lot of risk.
  15. This is really interesting. As for the power issues, I had one thought and a proposed flaw/weakness. One big weakness for Aredos is that he isn't good at teaming up with people (paranoid and with problems trusting people). This might lead to him to being ganged up on by the UFO or other people. Sure an elantrian is strong but against a group of killers, he would struggle. If you still feel that an elantrian is too strong, I can add some trauma. If Aredos is engaged in too much fighting, he begins to lose his grip on reality. He sees instead of his opponent's faces, he sees the faces of the mother and child he killed on Nalthis. He then is extremely distraught and unable to fight for too long. (similar to Taln in dragonsteel prime if you have read it) This affects him in long fights. Since he knows that he will probably freeze in big fights, he will run from most fights and only engage in select and short combats. Another proposed weakness is that Aredos was limited in what Oladan taught him. He might not know how to soul cast for example, or might only know combat AonDor. A Third and finally one is that Aredos relies on a medallion for his connection to the Alleyverse. If he loses that medallion, he's powerless. Also I don't know the rules in connection to the Dor, but if there is no Dor, then he relies on stores of unkeyed Dor for his powers. Feel free to propose any other fixes you see for the character.
  16. Here, I redid Aredos 's character sheet with a more full backstory and personality. spoilered for size. @Koloss17
  17. I think he meant spren. The nine true spren are those who create radiants. The tenth type is the bondsmith spren (storm father, night watcher, the sibling).
  18. Ok, sure. I can answer these questions. I was thinking of this taking place around 50-100 years after the events of elantris/ the restoration of elantris. So he is not a broken elantrian but a full and restored elantrian. As for culture around the shade, it is much the same as it seems it was before the events of elantris. The Shaod is viewed as a gift. However, Aredos didn't see it that way. He loved his family deeply, so when the priests took him to elantris, he got extremely scared and ran off where the mercenaries kidnapped him. As for age, he is around 66 years old, but since as you said identity shapes their appearance, he has the psychical appearance and body of a 24 year old. Oladon was taken by the shaod around twenty years after elantris's event. He was taken for his devotion to himself. He spent ten years learning AonDor. However, after those ten years, Elantris was visited by a group of Nalthian merchants. Seeing that a elantrian could be very powerful in the wider Cosmere, he spent 7 years cracking the problem of how to make a elantrian not limited by place (In tress, we see an elantrian not on Sel, so we know there is a way.) After that, he left Elantris and began to form the mercenaries. He believes that power is the birthright of the elantrians and that life is a war of us vs them. Aredos viewed Oladan as a father figure. He was taught the same philosophy of us vs them. Oladan manipulated Aredos into thinking that by fighting, he was really just bringing the Cosmere into the hands of its rightful rulers, the elantrians. However, this changed when Oladan sent Aredos on that mission to Nalthis. Aredos obeyed orders and used Aon Daa to destroy a building which collapsed and killed hundreds. However, when they were searching for their target among the wreckage, Aredos saw a dead mother and child. Filled with rage, he destroyed the other three mercenaries who were there. Aredos realized that life was not a war of us vs them and resolved to destroy Oladan's mercenaries. He returned to Shadesmar, where the base of Oladan was. Taking them by surprise, he managed to wreck the main part of the troops but Oladan escaped. Aredos, wanting to bring justice to an evildoer, gave chase. He spent 13 years searching through Roshar, Sel, Scaldrial, and Nalthis. He found no trace. However, he heard rumors of the Alleyverse and realized that Olden could be there. He spent a year finding the alleys and then has spent two years in Alleycity. He knows that Oladan is in the city but has no idea where. He has spent some times establishing presence, creating his hideouts, preparing for the confrontation with his mentor, and waiting for rumors of an rogue elantrian.
  19. In WaT we discovered the intent of Sigzil's and Hoid's dawnshard, exist. Add that to Rysn's shard, change and we have two confirmed dawnshard names. (Plus maybe a shard with the bind intent from that epigraph). What do y'all think is the 4th dawnshard?
  20. I'd definitely love some more elantrian magic. It felt like a lot of applications from elantris were not used. The characters are using the same aons over and over again. Also maybe a story from the future of the Cosmere.
