Ebon finally relaxed. He hadn't realized how tense he was; his palms had begun to sweat. For some reason, negotiations like this always excited him in a way he couldn't quite explain. But now, he had Perses right where he wanted him. And he had to admit, he did see this relationship working both ways. Ebon let out a wide grin. "I'm glad to see we can agree. As you know, I'm completely new to Alleycity. I don't know about the factions, districts or power dynamics. I'm only now truly discovering the possibilities of the wider Cosmere. I need you not only for your influence, but also for your knowledge. Without you, I would struggle in Alleycity." Suddenly, Ebon felt a low rumble in his stomach. These last few days he had often spent hungry. "I'm willing to share a little more, but first... do you have anything to eat?" @Koloss17

Piltzintecuhtli sighed. It was back to the drawing board, then. ”Very well. I cannot force you. I can only urge you to keep this with you.” He handed Joseph a stone whistle, with an engraving of a mushroom on it. “If you ever change your mind or need me, blow it.” Even after Piltzintecuhtli ceased to project himself to Joseph, the whistle would stay behind. As he began to fade, he left one final message. ”Know that you could have been this world’s savior.”

Maybe? Just don’t control other players’ stuff.

Sharder's Stalking Guide (a.k.a. Geo Tracking 2.0)

I think you misinterpreted where I live though. I’m in Panama City, Panama, not Florida. -
Yes! *hugs* I understand why you feel bad. And you have every right to feel like that. But suicide is not the solution. If you choose to end yourself now, all you do is create more pain. If you push through, on the other hand… Think of all the people whose lives you could touch. All the things you could improve. Yourself included. Think of all the light you could bring into the world. You matter. Infinitely. Don’t give up on yourself. Because we won’t. I won’t.

Yeah. So essentially, it’s like a combination of TTRPG with free style, a looser format. Each player has control of one main character, but instead of a DM, everyone builds the story together. Technically, anyone can describe the setting and introduce NPCs like the DM. However, it’s best if you don’t control the parts of the setting or NPCs of other players. The example I used earlier was that, say, if the party was interacting with the blattelans, my civilization, then I would control what happens there. But if we were to interact with the Sin Crowns instead (RIP Sin Crows) then @Argenti would control them. I don’t think we should rely on a system of chance or skills to resolve actions; it’s cool, but too complicated for an asynchronous RP like this. For an example, you can look at the Alleyverse.

*hugs* I feel you I say this as a verified nerd, school really does suck sometimes I can also relate to not having anyone to talk to; I often feel like there is so much inside me that nobody knows about it’s almost like nobody knows me at all. If you ever need someone to talk to, I’m here I’m glad things are better. Also, I’ve never been to a therapist, but that does sound a little odd…

Yes! Ebon exulted in his mind. Finally, Perses was beginning to come along. Ebon crossed his arms, abandoning his knives, attuning the Rhythm of Satisfaction. ”I need you because of your power.” Perhaps this man’s pride could be used against him. “There is no one in the area who is as capable for this as you are. If you were to help me, as I said, the weaponizable research will be in your hands, not those of another. You emerge in a position of greater power than before, and I get what I want. It’s perfect.” He emphasized the last part, placing his large hands down on the table and leaning in to gauge Perses’ reaction. @Koloss17

Piltzintecuhtli sighed. He had truly hoped this one was different. ”Yes, the sacrifice does involve some… homicidal activity. But it is necessary for the greater good, and I am incapable of performing it myself. The blood of a human must be shed by another human.”

Piltzintecuhtli dismissed the vision, and they were back in the hallway. This, of course, still wasn’t Piltzintecuhtli in person, just a projection in Joseph’s mind. ”I used to help people. Now… I don’t know.” Memories rose in his head. The last two weeks, wandering. Seeing how the world had changed. And that night… standing atop the mountain, above the lights of Mexico City. The knife, shaking in his hand. Waiting to spill blood. Yet inside, all he felt was cowardice.

Piltzintecuhtli nodded. “Very well. Meet me in the courtyard in an hour. I will guide you from there.”

Piltzintecuhtli looked at him quizzically for a moment. Ragnorak, Apophis… even after two weeks, he still struggled to adapt to the sudden appearance of all these new deities. ”I do not know much of some of these ‘end times’. Perhaps they are just as big of issues as Tlaltecuhtli’s wrath. But they are not my job. She is. ”And to answer your question, she is rising because it has been literally hundreds of years since she was last sated, and no, we cannot divert the blood being shed in the so called United States of America. We are gods, not omnipotent.” He turned his attention back to the scene, rising them in the sky to better observe the widespread ruin. ”If we are to stop Tlaltecuhtli, we must conduct the sacrifice, ritually, in a temple in her domain. Our time is fleeting, Joseph. Will you accept this call, or must I search for another mortal to execute this task?”

Oh. That’s funny

Nah, they're not on the Shard and it was a while ago. But funny that it happened to both of us!

I wasn’t ever expecting anyone to comment on that, but hey! I didn’t actually know coconut water could be used as a blood transfusion/plasma transfusion/blood supplement. It was just a Truth or Dare thing where I had to put a weird quote in my sig and my friend had recently texted me this for no reason. Guess I’ll have to correct it now!
-
Uhh I think you accidentally quoted me from another thread On the other hand… I’m still on the Lost Metal, but I’m really excited to see a more scientific approach applied to the magic systems and their impact on life on Scadrial. Plus, I’m interested in seeing how the Ghostbloods’ plans involve Harmony, especially since I’m assuming the series to begin to take on a more Cosmere-aware focus. I also expect the trilogy to take on a wider scope, more similar to Era 1 than 2, since it’s been planned for so long. And of course a Secret History 2 would be awesome

I second this idea (also voting for it in the poll, where it says other)

I see it working pretty easily, personally. Remember, Roshar is full of civilizations and it all works together. Earth has held hundreds at a time. Of course, this means that all civilizations won't be getting the same amount of attention, but that's okay. Again, I don't love the idea of a single GM, as it reduces individual agency and the plot then becomes extremely dependent on their availability, but I'm willing to work with it if that's what everyone wants.
-
We don’t need a specific GM; different players can control different parts of the plot and setting. If we were to interact with the blattelans (my civilization) then I would control what happens there, but if we were to go into, say, the swamps, it may be different.
-
Yeah, the Alleyverse is a great example of this
-
I think we should do a normal RP format, where each one of us makes a character and controls their actions. That way, each person can feel a connection to their character, while also avoiding any disputes that arrive over the behavior of a single character. Obviously, there would be some basic rules: no godmodding, and perhaps certain parts of the setting can only be controlled by specific people.
-
Wait… won’t there be multiple main characters? You said “character”
