  1. Yes, it would definitely be.
  2. I agree. The Church has a fairly strong position on this sort of thing, so I doubt he’d potentially exclude himself or his kids from watching the movie/adaptation he has full creative control over. You might not need much CGI. Awakening is pretty much just objects moving around and colors go to grayscale. Holding breaths just makes the environment much more vibrant. If the only thing you wanted was CGI and ignored props/acting/plot/everything else, you might be able to get high-schoolers interested in the subject to do it.
  3. I agree, but you can go too far the other way. I don’t enjoy excessive gore, but if you sanitize it too much, it can harm the tension of the movie. Yeah, that’s a good point, but awakening might be the easiest magic to adapt. It is extremely visual, open, and easy to understand. I suspect Brandon might use more suggestion and camera angles to tell the audience what is happening, but not necessarily depict it.
  4. Is that a problem? I've experienced the same thing, and I don't think it really matters whether as long as I remember the overarching plot (even if I can't place details in the correct book).
  5. That was Robert Jordan, not Brandon Sanderson. With Sanderson, you'll have books coming out must faster.
  6. Given that most of the non-Shin are probably not going to look like me, I’ll go with Mraize. He always seemed so interesting and cool.
  7. Aradan Liese, Smokestacks Following closely behind Thav, Aradan watched him lift up the manhole and climb into the sewer. Waiting for just a moment until Thav reached the bottom, Aradan burned pewter and jumped down. Smelling the stench, he covered his nose and waited for Thav’s direction. @Steel Speedster
  8. Bronze mistings don't hide investiture, they detect it. If you mean a coppercloud, they could certainly make some dough from it by hiding celebrities' allomancy. If you mean bronze, WoB suggests they could eventually see into the CR.
  9. Yeah, some sort of raiding might develop. I also would believe a duel focused society, like the Warcamps.
  10. Agree with @Immortal Platypus here. I think that this should move down to zero or near so due to the time dilation. The time dilation essentially means outgoing armies are on their own without much of any supplies or intelligence from Roshar. I would knock this down a point or two due to the time dilation. The dilation means that Rosharan intelligence will have to wait much longer for updates. This essentially requires most foreign intelligence to act independently and uncoordinated. I would knock this down a point or two due to the fact that, as you said yourself, they do not work together. This combined with the barrier around Urithiru as least temporarily depletes Roshar of most Radiants other than Willshapers and Skybreakers. Great analysis, @Frustration! The other planets have a right to be scared of Retribution's wrath.
  11. It’s the issue of passion.
  12. Guys, I think it’s just me, but hear out my hot take, imo Kelsier would be a villain in another book. Also another hot take, but I think indicriminately killing all the nobles is wrong.
  13. From my perspective, I think most of the "slog" was a big deal when the books took two years to write
  14. So you won't believe it when you buy a ticket to go watch Mistborn: The Final Empire: The Movie?
  15. It might be an underdog sort of magic, where standing up and fighting is rewarded.
  16. I was able to find the source for the Coppermind excerpt kindly provided by @Xiahida. (It’s not like it’s right there or anything) If you dont have current access to RoW, here’s the quote, courtesy of Pattern. This becomes interesting, as not only does Shallan (actually Veil in the text), say Pattern is merely “skilled” detecting lies, he is “better than most humans.” This suggests that they might be able to sometimes detect lies—although this is just a throwaway comment and unreliable narrator strikes again. It’s possible cryptics can detect better than polygraphs and human perception, it’s possible only Pattern can (maybe something to do with Chana or the double bond?), and it’s possible that there is no real difference between cryptic and human perceptive capacity to determine lies from truth.
  17. You’re welcome. Beware however that if you haven’t read any book published before Oathbringer, than those spoilers will be on the version of the Coppermind you view with the Time Machine. Although, before Oathbringer is early enough, you should be fine if you stay on Stormlight-related pages.
  18. Aradan Liese, Smokestacks “Great, let’s go,” Aradan replied. I don’t have much else to do. He reached into a pocket and pulled out a vial, drank it, and then drank another vial that Thav had given him. He then stood up, stretched, and walked towards the door, waiting there for Thav.
  19. Use the Coppermind instead; it’s much higher quality. If you want to avoid getting spoiled, use the Time Machine and set it to before the book you are reading. They also have great chapter summaries (example: Words of Radiance)
  20. I do take a "break" to wait for the next book to come out! If I have multiple unread in a series, (like I did for the Wheel of Time), I power through the series til I'm done. If I was reading the Way of Kings right now, then I would read Words of Radiance right after, then Oathbringer, then Rhythm of War, and so on. The only exception might be novellas like Edgedancer or Secret History, which I might insert in.
  21. I suspect it’s only going to get worse with the Mistborn and later RPGs, when more talents, skills, and rules are added.
  22. You're not illiterate, the doc of rules is not incredibly clear on things. Many things are obscure and not easy to find. I’d love a cosmererpg wiki with links, tooltips, and access to information.
  23. Yes, kinda. All of the “classes” are split into talent trees. You are free to take any talent from any tree as long as you meet the requirements. While there is no “warlock” of flexibility, you can build your character pretty much however you want. Essentially, it is all “eldritch invocations."
  24. I think this is only going to happen if Brandon has a clause in his contract that requires it.
