  1. Better that he get all the trauma out of his system now then for him to go suicidal on top of a mountain two books before the end.
  2. I can't tell you how glad I am that I have Spring Break next week. I'm so excited!
  3. I'm hoping we eventually get decals of the Knights Radiant glyphs. I'm saving space on my laptop for one.
  4. I feel so incredibly spoiled. My Spring Break is the first week of March, which means I get to go to the LA signing and the Houston signing.
  5. Same. The cover looks beautiful, but the tagline for Mistborn is and always should be "There's always another secret."
  6. That's going to have to be a sell. Joel will visit Nebrask in the next Rithmatist book.
  7. As Wit put so well in tWoK, what's valued most by society is novelty. Interesting Worldbuilding and magic systems create that novelty.
  8. Sell. Brandon's trying to keep his serieses separate, at least for now. Szeth will be Odium's Champion.
  9. Prof's cell is implied to be one of many Reckoners cells. She probably stayed on (at least initially) so that she could learn about the other cells. Plus, I think she did want to kill Epics, just not the ones in Newcago.
  10. Sell. Chalklings are more an an art than a science. The fifth Alcatraz book will never be published because Alcatraz broke the series.
  11. I agree that the EE is probably most powerful if you can't/aren't turning your power off. But if this is the case, the most drastically affected Epic should be Nightweilder, who is constantly using several of his powers. Which to me implies that the cumulative effect of the EE is indifference/arrogance.
  12. Someone brought it up in another thread, but there are instances of people not being healed until they pulled out the harmsway. Most of the machinery in the items might have been a cover-up, but I'm pretty sure that the items themselves were the sources of the abilities. And I don't think anyone else has used Epic Effect yet. It made the thread seem more scientific-y, so I like it.
  13. I created this thread to do an in-depth analysis/comparison of the Epic Effect. The Epic Effect (EE) being how the use of Epic powers changes the personality of the users. Epics: Analysis of EE Obviously, we're working with very little data and a lot of supposition. But we need to start someplace. I tried to be as complete in my summaries as possible. If I missed anything, let me know and I'll add it. If you like, I can draw up the quotes I based my summaries on. But this post is already really long, so I'm going to provide quotes on a case by case basis, if you feel they're needed. My analysis isn't as complete as I would like, but completing the summaries wore me out.
  14. Sell. We know a bit about the categories of fabrials, and nothing comes close to the Windrunner abilities. Someone from Bridge 4 will join the Seventeenth Shard after/during the Stormlight Archive.
  15. I still can't believe Brandon actually used that "Pink Pinkness" joke.
  16. Sell. Or if he does, he'll be in the epilogue again. There will be a Parshendi / Alethi romance in the Stormlight Archive.
  17. Name ideas for Morsk: Hollywood, Boomtown, or Pinto.
  18. I like how you're using David's skill with the tensors as evidence that he's an Epic, when the only (known) Epic to try and use the tensors was completely unable to. And I know everyone likes the idea of meta-Epics, but the fact that gifters can't gift to Epics implies to me that Epic powers that affect other powers are unlikely. It's like how Imbued objects are hard to affect by magic.
  19. Why don't we know what Calamity is? It began shining a year before the world started to fall apart. That means there was a year in which every single telescope, satellite, and antenna in the entire world was aimed at it. Even if the data was inconclusive, we should know more about it than "it looks like a star or a comet". And a government cover-up isn't even close to plausible. A backyard telescope will tell you something.
  20. People, not having a prime invincibility doesn't count as a weakness. That just means you can be killed without your weakness being activated. Think of the illusionist David and Megan face at the very beginning. No prime invincibility, and also a weakness to smoke. Another Epic: Power: The first time I touch someone, something happens to them. Some of my victims: 1st - He teleported 3 feet to the left, and 2 feet upwards. His clothing did not. 2nd - She turned into a bi-colored python rock snake 3rd - She gained expert juggling skills 4th - He's an Epic. Now his powers only work when he's standing on 1 foot. If he holds his nose, his powers double in strength. 5th - She was eaten by an anteater. It wasn't pretty. Weakness: people are only affected the first time they're touched. Also, I have no control over the effect. Name: Roulette Costume: I were normal clothing so that I can blend in until I touch someone. Evil: I am very curious. Specifically, I am curious about what my touch will do to unsuspecting people.
  21. Sell, if only because she sounds interesting. AoL spoiler
  22. My issue is that there is a difference between panning something and calling it vomit inducing.
  23. I think that Epics instinctively know what their weaknesses are. I say this because some of the weaknesses mentioned are pretty hard to figure out. Steelheart (to our knowledge) has only been hurt by one person, yet he seemed to know what his weakness was. David mentions an Epic who could only be killed by five attackers at once. I have absolutely no idea how you would figure that one out. Unless the Epic already new, and let it slip to someone else... What do you think?
  24. Another possibility is that Megan guessed that they were using a gifting Epic, but assumed that the gifter was a hidden prisoner like Edmund was.
  25. Sell. I think that would be like saying a battery and a flashlight are the same thing. Demoux was a worldhopper before HoA.
