I think that it's a trophy wall and a test. If a worldhopper sees the trophy wall, they might recognize the artifacts and their reaction would hint at their status. I wouldn't rule out their future use because they're not powerful (which if the flower is a Tear of Edgli like we think it is, it certainly isn't). A key isn't powerful, but you can use one to open a powerful door. But I do think they're just trophy symbols.

You Mist one; leaving out Sazed won't be a source of Harmony. (These puns give me a particular Surge of satisfaction)

No, the singular bad part is that he killed him. There is no situation where killing someone is a good option. Sometimes it's the right option - sometimes it's the only option. But that doesn't make it good. Irregardless of the relative morality of his actions, I don't think that Adolin actually solved the problem Sadeas presented. Sadeas's wife and allies are still around to continue opposing Dalinar & co, and now they don't have an obvious leader to keep track of, making them that much more dangerous. And if Adolin is ever traced back to the murder, it will open yet another host of problems. And Adolin runs the risk of martyring Sadeas on top of that! I think that if I thought it was a sound tactical decision I would say Adolin made the right choice (maybe). But as it is, I think he made the wrong one. But the tactics of his decision have little to do with Adolin's spren, so I'm off topic. Back on topic. I think it's interesting that Adolin's chapter picture shows him (I assume it's him anyways) holding his shardblade in one hand. From what I recall, the only one-handed form is Flamestance, which, coincidentally, would be associated with the Dustbringers. Which is rather interesting, as Adolin has said that he prefers Windstance. Wyndle manifests as vines with little crystals embedded in them, while Edgedancers are associated with the essence of crystal. It wouldn't surprise me if all of the Cultivation oriented spren had some viney aspect in addition to their essence. Heck, do we know for a fact that one type of spren can't bond with multiple Orders?

It's worth noting that John Carter grossed a lot higher than you might think. According to this, John Carter was the 29th highest gross of 2012 - above Looper, Argo, and lots of other films which got much better reviews and made significantly more profit. So why did John Carter lose so much money? Because it was absurdly expensive to produce. Just because the effects can be done doesn't mean they can be done cheaply.

Chapter 84 (Decoded) Epigraph Message
Arcanist Lupus replied to Argent's topic in Stormlight Archive
Wait a minute. Gavilar was having visions, correct? And I presume that they were the same visions Dalinar has been getting. And Mr. T knew about the visions, right? And the visions tell the viewer to reform the Knights Radiant. So why is Mr. T going to destroy them? -

Well, considering he's spied on Bridge 4 without being noticed, I'm guessing that Nazh is not a dragon. -
Chapter 84 (Decoded) Epigraph Message

The entire Diagram was in his own personal language. The rest of the Diagram was translated, so this would be as well. -
The decoded epigraph provides pertinent information. It reads:

Chapter 84 (Decoded) Epigraph Message
Arcanist Lupus replied to Argent's topic in Stormlight Archive
Why was this epigraph encoded? On a meta level, of course, it was to give us something to do. But Brandon doesn't put anything in the books for purely meta reasons. If this message was encoded (even more so than the rest of the Diagram), then genius!Mr. T must have wanted it to be kept a secret. But the entire Diagram is already a secret. So why does this bit need extra secrecy? -
My guess is that it's not getting much attention because the interlude's obvious ramifications are more political than they are magical or main character driven. So while it will have major plot importance, it's the wrong type of plot importance to attract much attention. Also, we don't understand enough about the political situation to know how this will affect the story, so there's not much to predict.

Mraize isn't Hoid. They act nothing alike. Plus, Shallan has seen both of them, and didn't notice any similarities between them. (Although I'm sure they're both really good at disguises, when they want to be.) It wouldn't surprise me to learn that the woman in the mask is the woman Hoid mentioned as being near his age, though.

Brandon's answers in Houston 3/11 signing
Arcanist Lupus replied to PadraicSeebrr's topic in Events and Signings
The last chapter of the SA is going to entirely in number code, and the key will be the coded Diagram epigraph. We've seen stormlight get stolen in the Lift Interlude. Also, Khriss and Nazh look to me like they come from the same phonetics. -
There is one thing we haven't seen. Inception did a pretty good job of a fight scene where the direction of gravity is changing, but everyone in the fight scene was using the same reference frame. When Szeth fights, he spends some of the time on the wall, when everyone else is still on the floor. This would be harder than doing what Inception did. Also, the entire LotR trilogy was about the length of tWoK (it's a bit longer, but close enough). And that was a trilogy. If you wanted to put the entire SA on the big screen, it would probably take 20 - 30 movies. And this isn't like Mistborn, where you could stop after the first book and say "We're done!" Also, we'd almost certainly lose all the interludes, which would make me sad.

Words of Radiance cover question
Arcanist Lupus replied to V'rish Makik's topic in Stormlight Archive
It's pretty common for sequels to include praise for the earlier books in the series. I'm not sure why, but it's true. -
I have to agree. Stormlight Archive is too broad/magical to make into a movie, or even a TV show. Not only because of the length, but more because of the expense. Game of Thrones is already pushing the limits with the Wall and the giant battles, and it has relatively little magic. SA, on the other hand has giant battles with inhuman opponents, on an unearthly setting, with lots of alien plants and animals. And I haven't even mentioned the Highstorms yet. There's no budget that could possibly afford all of the special effects required.

Besides, you know, being in the title of the book. I'm sure it has no significance whatsoever.

Right is a tricky claim. I'm sure it will be beneficial, though. (Unless it comes back to bite them unexpectedly ala the Lord Ruler.)
-
I think that your mistake is to assume that because something is an easter egg, it doesn't have plot significance. Yes, Wit is a worldhopper. But the Letters in the epigraphs (and Wit's own statements) make it clear that he has a specific goal on Roshar, which is directly related to the plot of the Stormlight Archive. None of the information about that goal comes from any other books - just from the Stormlight Archive. I see that as foreshadowing. Nightblood is a bit of a different issue, since we know more about Nightblood's history and personality, which give Cosmere familiar readers an head start in knowing how it will behave. But I'd bet money that none of that history is going to matter. The only details which will matter are Nightblood's personality and abilities, which will be defined quickly in the next book (and Nightblood's abilities on Roshar will probably be a bit different anyways), at which point the Cosmere readers will no longer have an advantage. Besides - Nightblood's personality was pretty well summed up in its quote in WoR. I guess my point is that while the characters' identities are easter eggs, their plot importance is not dependent on their identities, and their plot importance is being legitimately foreshadowed like any other foreshadowing.

Words of Brandon (Q&A Responses)(*WoR Spoilers!*)
Arcanist Lupus replied to Trickonometry's topic in Stormlight Archive
At the Huntington Beach signing he indicated that he had book titles laid out for the remaining books. -
I don't think it's possible they didn't realize what they were doing. Kaladin can't be the only one who's ever broken his oaths and lost his spren; they would have documented cases of it happening. I could buy believing that the spren would be able to go back to the Cognitive Realm, and not realizing they'd be mindlessly trapped, but as soon as the first Radiants started to abandon their spren and the spren started screaming, the rest would realize what was happening, and stop. Also, another reason I believe the breaking was intentional - All the Radiants broke their Oaths more or less in unison. If the problem was a conflict of oaths that arose naturally, the Radiants would have lost their powers more sporadically.
-
My problem with this theory is that I don't feel a schism or betrayal would have created a bond breaking conflict among every member of every (well, nine) orders. The only way to achieve that would be a unified decision to break their oaths. And that would also be a decision to murder their spren, so they'd need a really good reason to do so.
