I really like this idea. The idea for the Pulser and Lift both make sense, and the Rioter may be more powerful with Voidlight than raw Investiture or metal, but the strength and use cases feel a little limited. I also think that Hemalurgy strengthening a magic system would require direct intervention from Ruin (or another Shard) IMO. I don't know if the Investiture itself can plot like Ruin. Ati was more than willing to build something up to knock two things down, making me think this could work, but that feels like it would have to be a direct action from the Shard. Bendalloy probably won't work this way either. Ruin and Hemalurgy are about decay, and speeding up time doesn't seem to help or hinder this very much.

If you could play a part in a Stormlight Movie

I have zero acting experience, but my hair is basically black and my eyes are brown. I'd love to be a random bridgeman (wouldn't even need to fake dropping dead during a bridge run). Cenn would be kinda fun too. Here is my audition as Pattern: Thank you *epic bow* -
Alehela/Alethela- Isles of the Emberdark + Stormlight
Grubfriend replied to Rand-Al-Thaidakar's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Just so you know, Emberdark is still in its spoiler phase, so anything with Emberdark spoilers should be put in the Emberdark Cosmere section. I reported it, so the admins should move it in a second (The three dots at the top of the post can let you report them. No big deal, but some people like me don't enjoy spoilers too much). The naming thing could be Roshar calling back to its history as a power move against Scadrial. Mentioning a semi-united planet that worked together that didn't have all the messed up skaa that the Scadrians had would make Roshar look better by comparison. That or some guy just really likes the Silver Kingdoms. -
Cryptics are not as powerful as you make them out to be (Coppermind page on cryptics): But your idea still has merit. Shallan thinks that Pattern is more skilled at detecting lies, so perhaps they could be trained this way. A fabrial could be more accessible to everyone though, as it doesn't require every city to have at least one Lightweaver.

This is just a place to theorize on how we might see Nightblood change and interact with the the cosmere. In WaT, nightblood suggests that they learned how to grant surges from the Honorblades, but what side affects would that have? Could the weilder use Stormlight or the black smoke that leakes out of the sword? Could they also grant individual resonances if those were known? It is not confirmed if a bond could be made, but suggested. As a continuation to this, could Nightblood be taught to grant other MoIs? Could an Awakened metalmind teach it to grant the metalic arts? Would Nightblood require oaths to grant these abilites, or just Connection from being weilded for a while...or eaten. How much could Nightblood limit themself from eating people? They refrain from killing people in the end of WaT, probably because Kaladin saw it as a person who could choose, and beings with a lot of Investiture (like the entities) are susceptible to human perception. Could they be trained to only consume kinetic Investiture, or pick to choose useless stuff like F-aluminum and not Light? Wob: Random other theory: could Nightblood use the Surges on its own? It has the Investiture necessary and the ability to grant it. Now it can be drawn whenever it wants!

Could Nightblood destroy a planet?

Vasher was able to just toss Nightblood away? Why was Szeth not able to in the climax of OB? -
We have seen three instances of someone trying to bond with an Unmade: Aesudan (Elhokar's wife), Amaram, and Shallan. The first two tried to bond with Yelig-nar, and Re-Shephir tried to bond with Shallan. I think this can happen. Radiant Spren and Unmade are both Splinters of a Shard. The Unmade are made up of more Investiture than anything Honor created (There is a WaT quote for this, but I don't have access to that right now). The Unmade seem to have abilities outside of a bond, and that seems to be their purpose. Yelig-nar is an exception to this because he needs a host to participate in a battle.

If they intentionally broke the law they were sworn to, then they may have issues with their spren. It is important to note that the Skybreakers understand that the law is flawed, and instead try to work towards the ideal law. Coppermind: If the Order was how it was during OB, then there would absolutely be repercussions. The version of it before the Recreance probably wouldn't have cared too much as long as no one was hurt, and probably be used as a teaching moment. WoB: Hope this helps.

I thought he did this for fear factor, but the increased strength could be why everyone is scared of him.

I think this could work. It would probably be something akin to increased benefits from having more Breaths. There may be an upper limit (similar to Breaths), but the benefits would still be useful. We did see scholars in WaT training spren to be more cooperative, so this may develop naturally as scholars notice some spren producing more of an effect without enhancement. Small side theory, could a singer get metal implants to stengthen their form: like having a pewter cage around their gemheart to grant more strength in Warform?

Lots of dragons spend plenty of time in a human form without any natural armor. There may even be a way to either find dragons like Starling with those bracers, or find a way to recreate them, to put them in a weaker state that is easier to overpower and spike. F-iron can be used to slow people down, but would a dragon be immune to that since it is technically tapping? Would storing F-speed be more efficient?
-
Mistborn can kidnap/spike people in the night and make a koloss, which can create an army (would require a Soulcaster for the metal, or a solid supply of iron at the start). Countries are conquered or sign a treaty and come under the trio's control. This is even better because of the Earth's ~8 billion people, so there is still a sizeable workforce. An Elsecaller would make surprise troop deployments much more devastating. Feruchemist could store spike locations and their effects in a coppermind, and emotional allomancy makes conquering later countries much easier.

Dragons have direct access to the Spiritual Realm, with what could be unkeyed Investiture. Could this connection be stolen and possibly be used to power other Invested Arts on a similar level as Vin using the Mists or Marasi in TLM. Could this work? Could it power other arts like Feruchemy, or power Aons on an Elantris level?
-
A-Pewter, F-steel, and Division. Pewter helps in regular fights, can be used to help with storing speed. Speed just makes Division broken. I feel like this surge is slept on because we've only seen it onscreen a few times, but is literally the magical version of a nuke. Even without physical contact, the intimidation factor and lighting the environment on fire is a huge advantage.
-
Cohesion and Tension are the Surges of soft and strong axial connection respectively, but what does this even mean. The Focused Ones have this power, but I'm confused about how the whole system works. Would it make a wall stronger or weaker depending on the Surge?

Yes, thanks. What power would that even give?

Odds are this is true, as many MoI are just different forms of old magic systems (ex: Lightweaving) so Ruin is using a form of this perhaps, more geared to that Intent. I think what is happening is that a spike takes a bit of a soul, and grafts it onto another. The important thing about the spike is that it must hold Investiture, and gemstones would be nice because they hold more Investiture than metal. This is in a WoB that I can't find. I believe that is how this works If it is Awakened, then Investiture resists Investiture. Why would you need to Awaken it? Metals and gemstones are the best Investiture storage units right now, so using another material is just shooting your own foot.

Could you use the Stains in some machinery, like a fabrial?

I think that Odium was hesitant to just smite people, because that would leave him open to an attack from another Shard, but everyone else is too scared of him now that he has twice the power, and none of Sazed's restrictions.

Two main examples of mixed Investiture for this post: Harmonium and Warlight. Harmonium has been specifically defined as NOT a mix of Lerasium and Atium, but something else. HOWEVER, you can SPLIT Harmonium into these two things, so which is it? I just saw a thread about how Roshar's technology will develop without Stormlight, and someone suggested people can split Warlight, which is Retribution's Investiture, but Retribution is Retribution, not Honor and Odium. Can someone help clear this up for me?

Advanced Rosharan Weaponry
Grubfriend replied to Through the Living Hopper's topic in Stormlight Archive
This would honestly be like having archers release wave after wave, conserving resources. The only issue is how to get the large gemstone, but lab grown/synthetic ones work WoB: -
Invention is cool. I like the idea of creating a society that focuses on technological advancement. My main problem is that all Shards have a huge downside when they warp you too much: Odium hates, Ruin destroys, Preservation CANNOT change stuff, etc. Preservation just feels like a deadlock after a while.
