    Opinion of the day #37: The D&D 5.24e Ranger sucks, and the Paladin was unnecessarily nerfed.

    If you like sci-fi, you should read Dan Simmons' book Hyperion. I cannot overstate how good this book is. It is, by far, the best science fiction I have read in the past year.

    I've been playing MC Java 1.19.3 with my brother. We just got our cow crusher working, finally found a village (and thus, potatoes), and I finished the first floor of our base, sans decorations. We're playing on Normal mode with a couple of data packs from Vanilla Tweaks. My Master-difficulty playthrough of Jedi: Fallen Order has also been coming along swimmingly. On this run, I'm planning to collect all the chests and secrets and maybe platinum the game. Currently I've completed Bogano, Zeffo, Dathomir, and Ilum. I've just got Kashyyyk left. I also finally beat all four surprise bosses. Ogdo Bogdo was the hardest of them, imo. My playthrough of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is on hold for now. I plan to come back to it sometime probably in the next month.

    There was a really bad storm in Nebraska last night. OPPD reported that there were winds of up to 100mph and 220,545 homes and businesses in Omaha and the surrounding area were without power. As of 8:45 CT, that had dropped to ~151,000. This is what it did to one of the trees in our front yard.

    The first two were taken last night after the storm ended, and the third was taken during the storm. The car in the driveway was, miraculously, unharmed.

      Did power drop for you? Ours was out from ~7 last night until just now.

    Finished my reread of EotW this morning. I really, really enjoyed it. Gonna start Hyperion this afternoon, once I do some writing.

    My girlfriend watched it tonight with some of her friends. Apparently one of my gf's friends keeps saying that she and I are like a fairytale couple.

    Does anyone know how to turn on connected textures with Optifine? I've been trying to get it to work for an hour and I'm losing my bloody mind.

    Mojang has 600+ employees, but they still can't be bothered to add bundles or an actually useful/hostile mob. And then there's the mob vote, which unnecessarily divides the community every time it occurs.

    I'm gonna stick with my 1.19.3 build until Mojang can put together an update that delivers on all of its promises and everything that was supposed to be in 1.17 is added.

    My writerly friends! (@Kajsa @Edema Rue and whoever else of you write) I have updated the Doc of my book to include up to chapter six. However, I have not yet added the first interlude, as it's not finished yet. I'll work on it today and see if I can bring it to a close. The Doc can be found here. Feel free to leave comments!

    Counting the interlude and the prelude, neither of which have been added yet, part one of Bloodlines is at 33,601 words, bringing it to *bing* 32.3%.

    I think it's amazing how much indie games have skyrocketed in quality in the last ~decade. That's not to say that older indie games are bad. Rather, we're seeing indie games not necessarily explode onto the market, but the ones getting a lot of attention are consistently of very high quality.

      There's a story based game called Opus: Echo of Starsong that's awesome. It has an amazing set of characters, intricate worldbuilding, and a story that gets you emotionally invested and then makes you cry.
