    Opinion of the day #35: when (not if) humanity encounters xenos, if they are in any way hostile, they'll swiftly learn why exactly that we call things "human rights." They'll also learn why we have rules for warfare.

    I had been a tech once, like them. I didn’t work some glamorous Imperial Fleet job, all I did was manage communications on Kovar Technologies ships. Comm switches and fuses were my jam. That was what I did for nearly seven standard years as the ships I worked on jumped from system to system across the Milky Way, some even venturing into the Magellanic Clouds to resupply colony worlds and research stations all the way out there, over a hundred thousand light-years from Earth.

    I've been working on expanding The Las-gun, the sci-fi short story I posted a while ago.

    My new obsession is tabletop wargames. Specifically, Warhammer 40k.

    I just got turned down for a part-time job at Costco because I can't… work full-time hours?? They wanted me to be able to work five days a week, and were disappointed when I could only work part-time hours even though THAT'S WHAT I STORMING APPLIED FOR!!

    Yep! I got a haircut and washed my car, and now I and my brothers are watching a video about Medieval Stasis in fantasy.

    I just had a BRILLIANT cosplay idea:

    Gothic.

    Samurai.

    Now, I of course mean "Gothic" in the medieval German sense, not black eyeliner.

    I think it would look super cool. Ōdachi with a zwëihander-esque handle and a (mostly) straight blade, a steel Oni mask with fluted armor, lacquered plate with Japanese flairs, a kobakama instead of trousers.

    It would be the perfect blend of fuedal Japan and medieval Europe.

    I am on my way to Eppley Airfield. First Seattle, than San Diego. It's been a long time since I've been on a plane. Fingers crossed it's not a Boeing lol.

      good luck, and have a lot of fun! i’m flying for the first time on friday (my family is huge, so it’s too expensive to fly; we drive everywhere lol) and i’m a little nervous for all the airport stuff. but i’m going to florida for disney and universal with my school choir, so it’s gonna be a blast!!

      It's kinda crazy to me how many Midwesterners have never been on a plane. I lived in Alaska until I was 13, so if my family wanted to go on vacation, we had to fly.
