  1. My own headcanon, which I feel is pretty supported by the text, is that Bavadin doesn't care due to being Genderfluid. Given you see things like Brandon saying gender isn't really constant as far as Bavadin is concerned, he is fine referring to her as both a he/him and she/her. And the text had Shai even say about Bavadin themselves "He, she, they, it varies". So, I pretty solidly believe that they are genderfluid.
  2. I feel that Lerasium implies non-Alllomancers can. But it could just be that Lerasium is weird.
  3. The Atium formed in the Pits of Hathsin was an Electrum alloy, which made it so that you need to be able to burn Electrum to use it. The Atium Mistings were actually electrum alloys. If you look at the Allomancy and Hemalurgy posters, they talk about "Pure Atium" and how Hemalurgic Atium "must be refined", it is due to this. Pure Atium has a similar effect of seeing the future, but the shadows come from it being an alloy with Electrum, in its pure form it just lets you see straight into the future as you gaze into the Spiritual Realm.
  4. Oh dear, hope you get better soon. And also, thanks for the compliment.
  5. Brandon said The Way of Kings is not that long after Warbreaker, just a few generations.
  6. Ruin + Cultivation
  7. I doubt they are related to the Sho Del, Sho Del haven't shown any shapeshifting capability before. Also, yes, I mentioned them in the message, didn't forget them.
  8. I kind of theorized that the Yolish tree was brought off world and this is a descendent. Brandon did say that the Fain Ecosystem has expanded off Yolen. But then again, Hoid could somehow send messages to Frost, who is on Yolen iirc. Ah, I see, makes sense.
  9. True, true. But I don't see how Aethers would make it take on a red glow like that. Then again, we haven't really seen any Aethers, just their spores and buds. So we don't really know what to expect for the cores.
  10. I wouldn't think it was Aethers, he seemed to not be fully planning to work Aethers in until quite a bit after he added in the idea of the Scar in 2010. So I don't think those are connected. Could be about Ambition, that is possible.
  11. I want to discuss with people what exactly the Scar must be, as it is pretty important due to the colour, how it is mentioned in basically every series, and that Brandon RAFOs everything about it. But one WoB did say that the colour is indeed significant. We know that it is crimson in colour. Crimson is often associated with corruption. We know that it can vary between seasons on Roshar to a noticeable extent, where it can reach high into the sky. This is observable in various constellations irl, like with the Big Dipper. Which appears rather high in the sky in Spring. Notably, they tend to compare it to wounds or damage, The Scar and the Red Rip. Both seem to imply something was going on over there. The constellation is called The Dragon, and the star map has all the constellations have some deeper meaning. I just, can't make out much of what it way be. As it doesn't exactly make much sense to be corrupted Investiture, given they seem to be pretty normal Stars, not Investiture. My idea, maybe Yolen is in the constellation, and the Shattering of Adonalsium caused some sort of twisting to the world around it. This would also explain the constellation also being called the Dragon, with dragons coming from Yolen, as if you look at the other constellations, they are all based around something to do with a primary planet in the system. Perhaps basically everyone associated it with hurt and wounds due to the Shattering. The Mourner for Threnody, a breathing woman for Nalthis, a lamp letting out a (Dor) flame for Sel, a fisherman for Drominand, etc. So, I doubt that the Dragon would suddenly lack any meaning. Brandon has also avoided saying if it is related in any way to the Shattering or anything after the Shattering. So, final answer, in my eyes, it is a result of The Shattering. What do yous think?
  12. I think I found out the number for unbalanced Shards. 2.2598099578*10^18. Got this by doing the normal formula, but multiplied each summed value by the summation of the amount of possible subsets of a set with cardinality n from 2 to n. So like, 4 is 11 due to having 6 sets of 2, 4 sets of 3, and 1 set of 4. This does it so that like, when we check or how many Shards exist that are made up of 4 shards, we will multiply each by 11 due to there being 11 different ways it can be unbalanced. If sets are not ordered, so as I said, (Ruin + Autonomy) + Preservation is the same as (Preservation + Ruin) + Autonomy, then this number is far less, at 42,456,897.
  13. Yeah, though they could still have Singer ancestry, we just know they at least have some Aimian. (Also, we really need to learn more about what the heck Siah Aimians are. We have main humanoid races of humans, Sho Del, and Singers, and then randomly have the Siah Aimians being immortal shapeshifters with strange shadows due to Cognitive Realm shenanigans.
  14. Just Hoid and Tanavast, afaik. We have mostly seen black, red, and blonde. Brandon has actually said that the hair of Adolin's and Shallan's kids would be tri-coloured, and that it is theoretically possible to have kids with rainbow hair. Which is just very interesting. Brandon has said it is also very easy to breed out colours. So, if Tanavast had kids on Roshar, they likely lost the white hair over time.
  15. We really have no clue except that they are a Threnodite mercenary group which is very important to the future of the cosmere. Brandon has talked about them a lot in WoBs about how he really has to cover them at some point before we get to Era 4. I am very interested in learning more about them. He says they would be a focus of the Threnody novel when he gets to it. We can also assume they are either worldhoppers, or have spaceships. Given they could chase Sigzil between planets. He also said they are a homage of sorts to The Black Company. If you don't know, it is a series of Dark Fantasy books by Glen Cook about an elite mercenary group. I've been interested to read it for a while. This has kind of given me more motivation to actually read it now.
  16. I feel that that mostly came from a mixture of how much she interacted with different forms of Investiture; and due to the act she was a nascent Bondsmith at the time, which I feel would have an influence on her abilities. But your point ultimately stands, even non-Singer descended humans can hear Rhythms (although, technically, most of Roshar has some degree of Singer ancestry, Herdazians and Unkalaki, and I think Purelakers* just have the most notable heritage.) I am actually of the opinion that the way Rosharan hair works, with all the hair colours of their parents being passed down, comes from the Singers, with the skin patterns. Probably mutated when passed to humans to apply to hair instead of skin. But regardless, yeah, Rock hearing them has to do with being an Unkalaki and alaii'iku. * Whatever human group it was that had the notable patterns on their skin. Pretty sure they were Purelakers or Marabethians. Edit: It was Selay people in general
  17. I have some ideas for new worlds, let me give some ideas and yous can choose which you want me to work on. Cultivation + Ruin Honor + Odium Honor + Dominion Invention The Shard of Annoying Persistence (All of those damn bots manifested as a Shard) [joke] While I don't have any ideas for these, I am interested to see how these would work: Whimsy + Honor Whimsy + Ruin Virtuosity + Invention Whimsy + Odium Odium + Devotion (might just be like, Zeal) There are basically 120 different Double Shards, 240 if they all have two manifestations like Harmony. 65,535 if you count any combination of n-shards, this is under the assumption that (Preservation + Ruin) + Autonomy would be the same as (Ruin + Autonomy) + Preservation. I am not sure exactly would to do the math for it if the order matters. The number would become pretty extreme. But regardless, there are so many different ways that Shards can combine. Maybe to include order would be like, ((120 * 14) * 13!), which would be 1.0461394944×10^13. Actually, no, it can simply be thought of as an ordered string of 16 values, which would be 2.0922789888*10^13 for 16, and when you sum up all of them, 5.6874039553×10^13 total combined Shards (you have to subtract 120 as this does also order the first two shards, but those two should be an unordered set). I did not check for if there is an Unbalanced form of every one. So, a lot of different ones possible.
  18. I have downloaded the ones in question, just need to upload them now. I got one uploaded, if you can check if I did it right. Got two down now.
  19. I know Odium didn't, this is just assuming he did as I thought it would make a cool idea. Kind of like an alternate universe version where part of him broke off. the S with a triangle is an Sh. The alternate u I think of being close to a schwa. For the Perpendicularity, it is like, the tower is inside of it. It is a pool which surrounds it. Also, note, the Tower isn't a literal building, just a beautiful cylinder of God Metal and gemstones which reflect light just so. On bonding, haven't really thought about that, maybe. I'll get back to you on that. The Primarily-Dominion ones would be a definite no, though. I would add the Devotion ones wouldn't like being forced to only serve one person, instead of serving the Shard by helping everyone that lives up to their high standards Yes, the red moon is based on Mars with what made it red, with the iron oxide. The sizes large enough for a regular shape, but they are smaller than our moon. Thinking like, 450-500 km, maybe larger, but I don't think any larger than 1000 km. If that doesn't work I am fine with them being non-spherical so long as they appear at least nearly spherical from the surface. Yes, Greater Prayers are twice a day, Lesser Prayers are strongly recommended, but not absolutely required. The Splinters would probably not be too pleased if you completely neglect them, though. I would say they wouldn't consider pregnancy impure/unclean, but would consider childbirth as such. On contact with blood, I would say they would, as an expansion from their views on menstruation. Just a case of "touching blood is bad". On time period, I am thinking rather early, not like, Ottoman Arquebuses (15-16th century), but like, mid-18th century. They would be allowed to make temples and shrines, yes. In fact, most houses have a room dedicated to prayer which is basically like a shrine or miniature temple. One the Day and Night thing, it is mostly them associating the Splinters with day or night. The Devotion ones mostly come out at day, the Dominion ones mostly come out at Night. So it is not due to the moons themselves only being visible at day or night. Another part is in how the Green Moon has a higher albedo, so even night feels brighter then when the other moon is over head, so they think of it as almost not being true night. I am not sure if I want day length to be longer or shorter than standard. I am currently leaning more towards 30 hour days, but the hour length is shorter, making it closer to around 26-27 hours. The Splinters would not be very open to visitors, no. They are a big reason behind the planet not being part of interplanetary trade and politics, it is just, a very defended planet. They are also aggressive towards foreigners who travel to it in the Physical Realm, as well, isolating it from the rest of the world. I would say probably not, but maybe with certain people. If so, it would be a rather rare circumstance. I actually do like that idea, a form of mental control over people, would make it desirable by more tyrannical nations. (Also the Vessel is They/them, I used that intentionally. Wasn't just a placeholder) Basic things, tools and art. Like nations have done throughout history on Earth. Relatively Earth-like, although the average humidity is higher, leading to the ecosystem being more focused around animals and plants evolved for higher humidity and warm temperatures. I imagine like, Cisandean South America. Also, animals are not expected to worship the Shard, they are considered to unintelligent to be expected to. They do, however, expect them to stay away from the Tower, so they will kill any that get nearby. This has lead to them all just, basically evolving to inherently know to stay away. Not the biggest fan of Abuse as the name of the Shard, but they are rather abusive, yeah. So it is at least relatively accurate. Anyway, I am glad you enjoyed it. It is fun to do more over-the-top worldbuildlng for a change. Past year I have been doing extremely down to Earth worldbuilding as in literally talking about the economy, politics, prehistoric migrations, and historical genetics. So, this was a nice change of pace.
  20. Okay, I can go and upload them then, if that is all good.
  21. What exactly is the protocol for adding art to the wiki? Shuravf has a ton of arts she made for Cosmere that are not on the wiki yet, and it says that we have a license for everything except Commissions. But I am not sure how to go about the other stuff like notifying them and all of that. I don't have Twitter or Tumblr or anything, and don't really plan to get either. Would somebody who does be able to go through the Twitter page and get the images and notify her of the uploads and such? I feel a lot of them would be good on character pages and such. I am also a big fan of her style and like having a place where all her cosmere art is gathered.
  22. Astronomy: Splinters: Dominion: They appear every day, but are most notable when the respective moon is visible in the sky. When the red moon is visible, it is the Night of Dominion (Akalmin Hášal mušaa), when it is the green moon, it is the Day of Devotion (Ulimmu Išinu mušaa). Relationship between the two types of Splinters are tense, they both acknowledge how necessary each other are. But at the same time don't want to interact with one another. They thus make civilizations on the Subastrals of their respective moons. This is the reason for them appearing in largest numbers in areas their moon is over, as it makes them closest to the area in question, thus less of a distance to travel. 23. Possibly. SA5 Flashback Preview spoilers
  24. Understandable, I have seen people get upset about spoilers they were totally warned about before, so yeah, I get it.
  25. SA5 Prologue Spoilers I was doing it all on one of the User Subpages, but haven't saved the page yet. As I was waiting for an answer so I can make sure it doesn't show up in category pages. The title of the page is just CharacterUpdate(SA5) so when it shows up in recent edits, it wouldn't spoil anything in the name, and it would warn people that it contains spoilers for that.
