They do understand Realmatic Theory, and I guess that Invention's Perpendicularity would be near the surface in a pretty defended room. Most people would not know about it. And I actually like the idea of Autonomy trying to bring down their society through trying to exacerbate the greed and oppression to try and bring forth a complete societal collapse over time, and prevent the amount of advancement they could be making if they were more focused on advancement and discovery than profit. I feel that makes sense. But don't mistake that as her being the sole cause, as it still was there without her, she just exacerbated it. Like what the Thrill does, it doesn't introduce emotions, it takes what you already feel and amplifies it.

True, I could. That would actually make a lot of sense for them to do so. I actually planned for the core to be some massive Elsecalling Supercomputer that can teleport them through the Spiritual Realm to different places in the cosmere. But I felt that kind of pushed suspension of disbelief a bit too far, that would require so much Investiture as to make it basically impossible without literally being a Shard. And while it could have a purpose if it was cheap, the amount of energy required would make it not worth it.

Yeah, I know, I was just assuming that either The space between systems is different, as Kelsier was still in the Scadrian System. It could be that the area between planets can actually differ depending on what they are closest to But yeah, you have a point.
-
Raysium is also them going to other planets to collect things, just assume that like, Odium starts making a lot of Raysium across Roshar and they begin to collect it. Fuses with the Highstorm and falls with tthe crem, I dunno. On habitability, I only really thought of the one planet, I would say I don't think the others are all too habitable.
-
I assumed that part was something inbetween worlds, rather than the Subastral of a world. And the way it talked about them made it feel as if they were supposed to be familiar and not just some random strange people, in my own opinion.
-
He actively said it wasn't from Roshar. So, it wouldn't be somebody who lives on Roshar. Maybe it is Frost, maybe it is somebody else. Not exactly sure. Also, I assumed some cosmere morse code due to the repeated lines and dots. But I guess that does fit with Aons as well. That makes more sense, actually.
-
Thanks, I was looking as I thought I remembered them being (implied to be) Unkalaki on Scadrial. But I guess they can still be Unkalaki, it would make sense they would be struggling to find another planet much more than the Iriali.

They do have space-faring tech, but usually just use it for resources from other planets and for experimentation and vacations. It is way too expensive for those that actually need it to afford it. Raysium comes from this very thing, they just collect stuff from other planets. On Invention's metal, he just provided very large amounts of it before he hid away. Yes there is a very fleshed out science behind the prosthetics, no, I haven't really thought it all out yet. On Autonomy, didn't really think about all of that. Water cycle is another thing you have to ignore.

Invention: I feel that is all I can get down tonight. You can only do so much when you give yourself a deadline of a few hours. This one was 2 hours, if the time the forum says is right. Not the most proud of it, but hope yous enjoy.

Technically speaking, that last part is wrong. He never said PoV character, he said flashback characters. The Flashback character, as shown by SA4, can be dead by the time the book comes along. So we can't be 100% sure that everyone listed is going to survive until then. It is likely, but we have to be careful about saying they will with certainty.

I am looking for a specific passage and the chapter it is in for something in Lost Metal. It was the line about the "red haired people that seemed confused" mentioned briefly in the book. I forgot what the exact passage was, and what chapter it was in. Can somebody with a digital copy help me find it?
-
Why thank you. Nice to hear. And thanks to you as well, forgot to mention it in the first comment.

On if they don't want to be one of any kind, I guess that can happen but it would be rarer due to how the Investiture encourages artistic expression. But it is definitely a possibility. They would just do jobs and not do art on the side. Most people on the planet, outside of the most talented of artists, or those whose job is art like architects, tend to have a job that they do as well. Because society would collapse if nobody worked as they don't have automation of labour yet at the technological level they are at. On if they can refuse a muse, yeah, they can. Some do chose to reject one. Such people are seen as strange and looked down upon, but they aren't exactly systemically oppressed, just seen as very peculiar. Some would definitely be more bigoted about it though, they are human, what else would you expect? Usually the bigoted ones are more of a "not in my house" type. But generally, doesn't go as far as open bigotry. For 6-limbed animals, yeah, I assume some degree of fain roots. Part of why I chose a Sho Del Vessel. It is a mix of fain, and just a different strand of standard ecology. It was like, it developed somewhat standard, but with different colouration, but it was basically cross-bred with fain and it led to them taking on some fain characteristics as they evolved. The Muses would probably have cities in the Cognitive Realm, yeah. And I do think they can form physically, it would be like Syl, though. Where they just can interact a bit but are not that strong. Haven't thought of a name, it is basically just Virtuosity with a degree of thought into how art gives to others. The Spark does grant ability, though it doesn't instantly make you a master. It is like, a head start. You start better than most people would start, but you have to actually put in practice to hone the skill. The highest point they can reach is higher than the highest point for normal people, though. Due to the Cognitive and Spiritual aspects of the creation, and in their very honed ability to distinguish colours. For the Seconds that influence it, it is by their own seconds. Not standard seconds. So it would be different if you look at it in Scadrian seconds or Rosharan seconds. If the Shard Invested a different planet and people, and was influenced by their idea of time length, it would shift to going by those units. It is all about perception, in this case.

I assumed he might have worked on it a bit in the intervening year. As he said he just needed to rewrite the list, which isn't that much work. But yeah, disappointing. At least the other three could be asked.

Can somebody try to ask him again about how to make Unsealed Metalminds, he has been saying he'd tell us soon for a few years now, and I am getting really impatient on it. Don't want to have to wait for Era 3 to get the steps. Also, two more: Is Bavadin genderfluid? Before you said Adolin would be down for a poly relationship with Kaladin and Shallan, does this mean we can safely assume he is Bi and Poly? And of course the obvious question, is Stick still doing okay? We haven't seen him in a while and I am concerned for his well being.

Virtuosity + Endowment Hope this one was as good as the last few. I always feel what I make is boring and not good, lol.

My theory that I am pretty set on, based on Death Rattles, implications in other places, and in WoBs. Is that Dalinar will lose, and Odium will consume the remains of Honor, become a Hybrid Shard, and do stuff. We see in Rhythm of War the idea of Humans and Singers coming together, and also have a character that is a Regal and Surgebinder (Venli), we have Renarin and Rlain loving each other (and they also both have Corrupted Spren, which themselves are a combination of Honor and Cultivation, and Odium, furthering the idea of the coming together of Odium and Honor) and have the idea of the Rhythm of War and Warlight, both fused together from Honor and Odium. They also use the fact they could come together to mean that humans and singers can work together and the war could end, and it is suspicious that the evidence they use is the fact that the Investitures can intermix into something new. The Rhythm of War is also going to be important in Book 5, they talk about its symbolic meaning extensively, and also say things such as this El is going to be rather important in Book 5, without a shadow of a doubt, his musings, combined with this, also paint a picture He is interested in the Rhythm of War, and in a greater war throughout the cosmere, and was unsatisfied with Rayse (who actively didn't want to be corrupted by other Shards). He also speaks of leading humans under the newest Odium, which both means that Odium would be victorious, and that he would be more warlike. It seems that he actively wishes for the combination of Honor and Odium. Raboniel talks a lot about ending the cycle, and this is connected to the ideas of the Rhythm of War and the associated Investiture We had it emphasized a lot that Rayse didn't want to be corrupted by other Shards, and now Rayse no longer holds Odium. Taravangian would be more willing to allow it to happen if he feels it is for the best. On a WoB This shows that Honor as a Shard will be relevant by the end of Book Five. Cultivation said that Taravangian would "control Odium with honor" or something along those lines, after he Ascended. Which, while they didn't capitalize honor, I feel it is still a very noteworthy way to word it. Taravangian is a strong believer in law and order, something that Honor is associated with. This shows that he has a Connection with the ideas of Honor and leadership. He also has a connection to Odium in the very strong Emotions enforced upon him by Cultivation. Thus, he reflects both of them in a very notable manner. Evidence they are gonna lose against Odium is extensive, but most densely focused in the Death Rattles. The very fact that there are five more books after SA5, which still relate to the Oathpact and the Heralds, implies that Odium would not be completely defeated. Evidence outside of this can be seen in The Lost Metal (Spoilers for The Lost Metal) In summary, I believe that Odium would combine with Honor to become War, the Broken One (which seems to be placed as something separate from the Three Shards, as if it were some new Shard), and Dalinar would lose the contest of Champions. But something else that is notable... Dalinar also has a strong connection to both. He is a very emotional man, and for much of his life he was deeply influenced by Nergaoul, an Unmade. He also has a strong Connection to Honor in his strong moral compass, his experience with leadership, and his Bond with the Stormfather, the Cognitive Shadow of Tanavast (or rather, a Spren that fused with said Shadow), and a being that is extremely Invested with Honor's Investiture. He was originally meant to be Odium's Champion, due to his Connection to Odium. A lot of these Death Rattles seem to be from the perspective of Dalinar as he loses, and they exhibit a very strong emotional response. So it is actually possible that Dalinar himself becomes War. But I feel that Taravangian is a far more likely outcome.

Unresolved star mystery gave me an idea (SP4 Spoilers)
Firesong replied to Chalke219's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Yeah, SP4 is definitely gonna focus on one planet. Also, this is the wrong thread for this, bring it to the forum for SP4.- 5 replies

Virtuosity splintered herself with a Dawnshard?
Firesong replied to drunkenbotanist's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Yeah, I was (and still am) completely convinced her number is 13. Due to reasons you mentioned, and several other reasons. Like, I am pretty sure 13 is the highest number of washes done during the bathing ritual (as in, 13 washes with one soup). So, yeah, 13 is reflected in many different parts of the work and world. There are also 13 nations. Nagadan and 12 others. Hijo are especially active on the thirteenth year. Pretty tenuous, but Yumi claimed to be 17, and 17 is a cousin prime to 13. 13 is also, obviously, prime, and Brandon made sure to put a focus on Design liking prime numbers, which I feel is a reflection of the idea of primes being important. It is the 2nd Wilson Prime and 2nd Star Number, and 2 manifests in various aspects of Virtuosity's Splinters and Investiture. Even more tenuous, 13 is the number of the Tarot Card of Death, and Virtuosity is dead. (That last one is a joke, that is way too tenuous.) And ofc, what you mentioned, Brandon said 13 is a good guess. -
Oh yeah, it was about Champions. But still, I doubt he would agree to the contract that was written up if it actively allowed Hoid to be the Champion. Given Hoid is immortal, and he knew that Hoid was working on the contract, given Hoid wrote his name in it. I think Zellion might be the Champion for Odium. Given how I doubt Brandon would use a name he loves so much (he uses it for game usernames a lot), to a not-significant character. And the Zellion Concept Art seems pretty special, and he was chosen to be one of the Figures. So, I believe that he is at least gonna be very important. Maybe the Champion.
-
I doubt Rayse would agree to that as he wasn't allowed to hurt Hoid, be it by an agreement made at the Shattering, or a stipulation in the contact. Rayse may be impulsive, but he is smart enough to not agree to a Contest he cannot win.

I wonder if you could use it by like, getting a towel and drying off your tongue and mouth enough that it is basically as dry as it can be. I also do wonder, would it become even more unstable when Harmony is Discord by Era 3. (I definitely feel Saze is gonna fully turn by Era 3, they are really building it up lately, and technically have been since The Final Empire)

On the metal, so far my thoughts are that it doesn't have Alpha or Beta decay. It is mostly heat and light, instead of particle radiation. As what it does is it converts a very small part of its mass into energy, and it uses that to power the reformation of the metal, it just isn't perfect so that the conversion into kinetic energy isn't perfect and some is made into heat and light. But that should actually bring about gamma radiation, as I understand it all. Not exactly sure how alpha and beta would work with God Metals, as we don't really know their atomic structure. On if it can be used in a reactor, well, it technically would be able to heat up water. But you would need to find a way in order to speed up the decay process, as the normal amount of heat released; while ranging from uncomfortable (or First Degree) to like, Third-degree burns (the heat released varies a lot, larger bodies of the metal release more heat as it needs more energy to recombine, this is of course based around what is perceived as the same body as metal, and by the metal's soul's self-perception); is not enough to boil water at the amounts needed for a nuclear reactor. But if you find a way to accelerate the decay, yeah, it could totally be used for a reactor. I would actually like to add this as one of the reasons it is so popular among interstellar nations. (Still have no idea what to do for the allomantic, feruchemical, or hemalurgic use of the metal. I guess all three the answer would be cancer, technically.) Also, I think that, while it stabilizes under heat and pressure, if you look at the microscopic level (or a bit bigger, such very small levels), you will be able to observe it fluctuating between stability and instability and converting very small amounts of mass into energy to pull it back into place. But it is so insignificant that it is not particularly worth note. Also, I feel 500 years is definitely way too short for the half-life. Gonna have to increase that by a lot. And on the seas, yeah, it would lead to less rain, which is what is observed. But also note, there are actually a lot of seas on the planet. But not enough to make it rain as much as Earth does.

Unless we get a far more active role with them in Era 3, which I feel we will as Trell was actually meant to be the Era 3 main threat, and that Era 2 was mainly just to build up the idea more and build up Scadrian history and Post-Catacendre history more. So, she is gonna be much more present in Era 3. If we don't though, yeah, would be Dragonsteel.

Brandon has said before burning God Metals does require a Connection to the Shard, yeah. I can't wait to see the Allomantic and Feruchemical effects of Harmonium and Bavadium. I am 100% sure we will get that in Era 3, but I am impatient. I guess that we kinda saw Feruchemical-like effects of Harmonium, with it copying nearby powers, but that wasn't really true Feruchemy, just a weird extra trait that Harmonium has. LIke how Trellium repels Investiture, and (Stormlight RoW Spoilers) So, yeah, curious to see it expanded upon. Also to get Feruchemical Lerasium.
