  1. "He's already shutdown and withdrawn," Rayvyn snapped. "Killing is something we can do to protect him. There's so much we can't do, but we can kill people. It's a comfort, if nothing else."
  2. Ravelast: Sixth Archive Gateway Rue shrugged, smile shrinking. "For an Aes Sedai, especially when I was growing up, there are no real 'better days'. There's always something to be done, and since al'Thor..." she shakes her head. "I suppose what I'm trying to say is that there are no long periods of peace. They are simple things. For a while, all the food on our planet was constantly spoiled. After that, good food has always been a simple joy. And..." she glances at Nameless, glad he's sleeping. "Bringing in one like him has always brought joy. We are protecting our planet, our people. That feels good." @InfiniteInsanity
  3. "We still have to do it. I am sorry for the pain it will cause him, but it needs to be done." She turns to Klave. "You understand the need to kill them, don't you?"
  4. "...Oh. That would be an issue. It can be harder to kill people when you know about them, I suppose." She sighs. "Fine, we won't kill them until Tacien is long gone, and we'll make sure he never finds out."
  5. Rayvyn rolls her eyes. "You'll never agree with me Cufre, but death is a mercy. If we could help him believe that, it might not hurt him so much."
  6. By now, Rayvyn has realized that asking why won't do any good. "I thought you cared about your brother," she says instead. "If we leave them alive, they'll just come back for him again."
  7. Heh. Sleep. Heh. heheheheheheeheh. *cries*
  8. Rayvyn nods. "I like that plan. It's not too harsh, in case they truly believe they were doing good, but it stops them from doing further damage. I can provide a quick way there and back as needed."
  9. Rayvyn watches the boy. He looks...startled? So perhaps that isn't the right way to do it. Why are these people so contradictory?
  10. Rayvyn watched the interaction curiously. So perhaps this is a better way to communicate with people, a way that would seem more normal to them? She tried glaring like he had, but it felt wrong, aggressive but not powerful. "My magic is not useful for this type of thing, but once we arrive, I can bring any wounded back here quickly and return on my own. Do we need to make a plan?"
  11. Rayvyn sheathes her knives and flips up her hood, pulling a pair of black gloves out of a hidden pocket and sliding them on familiarly. Knives sharp and poisoned, face hidden, soul alive. "I'm ready."
  12. Rayvyn looked troubled at that. "That is...a disconcerting idea, to say the least. I have never hoped to be satisfied with my life; I seek oblivion. The small joys of this life are not enough to combat the pain that fills the years. I will fulfill my oaths, and when I am through, I will leave this life. That's all there is to it..." She trails off, absently twirling her dagger. "Marilyn, perhaps I don't want healing. We may heal our wounds, but they only cut deeper. It would be better to simply not be wounded."
  13. Rayvyn ponders this for a long minute. "I was never given the chance to find this 'middle ground' you speak of, but I would like to believe that it exists," she finally says.
  14. Rayvyn shakes her head. "You people focus on the most bizarre things. Why do you all fear death so much, whether by your own hand or another's? It isn't a good thing, the same way eating old bread or not always winning at cards isn't a good thing. It's just a fact of life." She ponders for a moment, then shakes out of her thoughts. "How do we always end up talking about these things? We have a portal to make and a child to save."
  15. "You mean people just sit there and talk about what they feel?" Rayvyn chuckles. "We have better things to do. Besides, why would I need to know what I feel? I can control it easily enough, and that's what really matters."
  16. "What's that?" Rayvyn asks, finally pulling her hood back and shaking out her short, feathery black hair. This might take a while.
