VIVA LA REVALUATION!
I'm gonna overthrow this government, then I'm gonna make a new government and overthrow that government.
Then I will go mad with power execute thousands of people, get executed, and replaced by a new government, which will be overthrown by a new government. Which will be turned into an empire.
That empire will take over most of the world, get overthrown, and then come back only to be overthrown by the original government.
Or you can give me a protein shake and a bag of chips, whichever you prefer.

I’ll be fine. But it’s still scary.
I won’t rant about the school system and its effects on mental health. I have a google doc for that.
This is fine.

That being said, school is not always very flexible for people with outside circumstances causing stress, anxiety, or depression. In my experience with that kind of thing, I end up lacking almost any motivation for schoolwork or just general daily things, but I'll get pulled into some other project at the drop of a hat. Which of course leads to more stress.
If school is going to be the place where we must grow and be productive, you could make an argument for homeschooling in that it's good to have teachers and a learning setting that is linked with your life personally to allow for flexibility and better mental health.
At the same time, it is impossible for many families to be able to do that. Some families rely on school to be a place for their kids while the parents work. In my opinion, the best thing we can do for public schools is continue researching into the causes of stress and ways to change them, as well as ways to approach teen mental health in general. Of course, people are already doing that, but we really need to work on implementing it into schools.
I'll shy away from specific examples because I don't want to make myself out to be an expert. I think, though, that it really is going to take time to make those changes. For now, if you are struggling with those kinds of things, you should talk to a counselor if your school has one or a therapist if you think that could help.
Also, please tell me what you think of what I just said if you can. I know I probably said something stupid up there, so let me know.

Hello.
I'm late to the party.
I only have two finals because I go to a special Focus Program every day after the first two class periods of my normal high school.
At that Science Focus Program, we instead have "portfolios", which are big projects that show the accumulation of our knowledge over the class.
And these portfolios are due soon. And not all of them are done. And I have so much stuff to do and it's stressful and....
Yeah.
(Now, time to go read what everyone else has posted!)
-
I’m also late to the party.
I am glad that we have education, but I think that in America especially, it just doesn’t fulfill its job. Language arts classes especially drive me crazy, though this might just be because I read too much. Still, I think that they shouldn’t be teaching high schoolers how to use a comma. All the freshmen are supposed to read Romeo and Juliet; instead, we watched the movies and compared them.
They seem to cater to the needs of the students that aren’t willing to put in any work themselves. This might be harsh, but after having to sit through classes that repeat the same thing they do every year, I’m just a little bit bugged by it. They should keep students up to a certain level, yes, but they also need to let other students go faster. Otherwise, there’s no point in giving up so much of your time just to sit around wasting said time.Sorry, that was kind of harsh, and I am by no means an expert. This is just a subject that bothers me a lot. Contradict me as needed.

FRIDAY THE THIRTEENTH!! I always need more of those. To be honest, I love them with all my existance and till the end of time.
Today was a good day. I got some good writing done (though not for my focus novel, of COURSE), got a role I was comfortable with in the one-act my drama class is doing, and got to play volleyball in gym. I also got chic-fil-a (refunded, cuz 1.5 hour wait) and watched a dragon movie with my fam. New OC idea!! Yay!!
And then of course… yesterday we had a Spanish test. I got over 100% because there was a bonus question… about me, and a mistake I made on the practice quiz. *hides until the end of time* I WAS TRYING TO DO IT FROM RAQUEL’S PERSPECTIVE… Only three of us got it right. Me (duh), some random kid, and a cute boy I kinda like. So that was fun… but hey, three bonus points!
Have many good days.

Greetings, everyone. I’ve escaped my confinement for long enough to wish you all a happy thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving is a funny holiday. It gets sort of eclipsed by Halloween and Christmas, but lately it tends to sneak up on me, even though we’re shopping and cooking and stuff. It’s funny how often that seems to happen to me lately. I guess it’s an effect of getting older.
Anyway, I wanted to thank you all for being awesome people and all those amazing things. And once more, happy thanksgiving!

STORM IT THAT SWORD IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SCUDDING THING IVE EVER SEEN I LOVE IT.

-
Happy new year!
I went to a church dance and elected to devote the evening to scientific findings on the species of Homo Sapiens, or humans, as opposed to my own species and subspecies—evil author. I shall copy my notes here. Some few of them are about individual members of the species, but more muse on behaviors of the animals as a whole.
• In the light, the dark-haired girls look like redheads. Very redheads.
• There is an irritating gaggle of people blocking my vantage.
• When a human is cut off from its pack, or has nobody to speak with, it must distract itself at all costs—a phone will do, or food, or a notebook (I do not stoop to such. My writing it scientific findings, not a distraction. Let us be very clear on that point).
• There is a girl in a wheelchair with a broken leg, who I see with a boy who is teasing her. Friend or date, I don’t know.
• When this species gets together, they form a huge, shifting clump, effectively creating a ‘maze’ difficult to navigate.
• Tragic how these creatures need songs written by those they don’t know to feel good about themselves. Can’t they tell they are already wonderful?• Somehow, the way they jump up and down with fists in the air makes even one like me wish to join them.
• A large amount of males has congregated at the opposite wall for no apparent reason.
• I shall now progress into field study.• Field study is exhausting. I shall prowl the perimeters of the room as an alternative.
•The knot in the center of the room is not the only place humans frequent. Not even most, possibly not even half, dance there. The others dance and chat in small groups.• As the night ages, the population of those who seek sustenance swell to unbelievable numbers.
• Two boys did a flip--one over the other. I shall not theorize.
• The boy has stolen her wheelchair.
•Approximately everyone thinks they’re weird, even if it’s simply subspecial traits manifest to by themselves. The only ones who can properly claim to be weird are the people who actually are. If you’re reading this, that’s probably you. Congratulations.• Boys like the halls…?
• When viewed as a group, humans appear to be a single organism, a single mass… as opposed to separate, individual entities.
• There is a most unusual force utilized to make any subspecies of author (perhaps reader also) to feel inferior when walking among humans, when, in fact, we are immeasurably superior to the animal in question.
• Shyness is not a byproduct, but a precursor of a good dance.
That was fun. Really fun. Again, happy 2023!

Here’s a poem I found…
From Death to Life
When the wind in the roses is too silent to seeWhen the rock falls above, yet misses the ground
When a river flows, swollen with the tears of the lost
And the weary stone turns to dust, too tired to remain round
~
Then is the time when the meter of rhyme shall slow and stop
And sounds fall empty on hollow ears
And the sea wither and die, succumbing to the pain of existence
~
Then shall the final song ring
Then shall the final song ring
~
And the restless soil will settle once more in its place
And the waters shall sigh
And the broken mend
And the world welcome the medley of life, never again to rend
~
The final song shall ring
And we shall have a new king
—Little Birdie

Hey, Forgettable, seriously?
-
Hi hi hi! Today was a good day! And I have so much I need to write but I wrote this for a school assignment and so here it is. (Also, those are not my real initials, which is why I left them in. It’s my persona that I don’t know why I have, but she’s like… me ish.)
Right now it’s called Adder Carslile because that’s his name, but I don’t know how long I’ll keep the title. Anyway.
SpoilerThe door opened and General Baure stepped just inside my office. “Sir?”
At that particular moment, I was pacing back and forth behind the walnut wood desk, but at the general’s arrival, knowing what this must mean, I stopped in my tracks. “Yes?” I asked, hoping my voice didn’t sound as tight to him as it felt to me.
“We’ve cornered the criminals,” he began. “You know they won’t come easily. My team awaits your orders.”
It’s not that easy, General, I thought desperately. You don’t get it. It’s not that easy. Those criminals are—were my closest friends. They believe in what they’re doing, General.
“What are our options?” I asked, stalling. I knew what they were. But I couldn’t just let them die… but if I didn’t, bad things would happen to me. To my family.
“We can retreat,” Baure began, “we can kill them, or we can attempt to capture them.”
I nodded, sweat beading on my forehead. I’d given the order to capture three times before, but they slipped through Baure’s fingers every time—with ease, like water. I couldn’t do that again. They’d never let me. But kill them? I couldn’t do that. I couldn’t kill Raiku, who stayed with me and idly talked with me about anything all day long, Chara, quiet and thoughtful, who used to patiently help me talk through problems, Jyr, who always brought a ready smile and citrus fruit from the market for each of us—and then, of course, the others, the ones who hadn’t been quite as much a part of our group, the neighbors and cousins and siblings. There were at least fifteen of them total, at Baure’s mercy—my mercy.
“Sir?”
“Hmm?” I raised my eyes from the red carpeting, patterned with gold. I had carpets and tapestries and wooden roofs; they had grass and dirt, trees and bushes, and boundless skies. But at the core, we both wished for the same things. We both wished to be free of these people who made us enemies. Maybe they were the smart ones—I conformed while they struggled and lived free. But at least my family ate! At least for now, air filled their lungs and blood colored their cheeks. But if I gave the order to retreat, my superiors’ vengeance would be swift. I’d be the last to go. That’s how they worked.
“Your orders, sir.”
“Ah. I… I need some time to think, General.”
He raised an eyebrow. “You sympathize with these criminals?”
“No,” I said quickly. Too quickly. “But they have information we need. Why be so hasty to kill them?”
General Baure sighed. “This was your reasoning last time, and the time before that. Carslile, it’s time to give up.”
Say it, just say it. Tell him you can’t, tell him you won't, tell him to leave them alone. You can still save them.
But my mind flashed to a memory of my two-year-old daughter. I can’t let that happen to her.
“Kill them.” The words sounded foreign, and it took several seconds to realize it was my own tongue that had formed them. “Advance and slaughter. You know the drill, General.”
He nodded and left, the door closing softly behind him.
I slumped against the wall, heart and head pounding. What have I done?
It had to be done, I told myself. Your family. Think of your family.
Impossible. All I could think of were those late nights out under the stars when all of us would chat and fall silent by turns, the way the laughter would overtake Jyr’s face, the steady calmness of Chara’s eyes and the deep comments Raiku made that would launch us into new channels of thought.
Stars and glory, I’d made a big mistake.
I never thought I could feel this bad. Until I did. Oh, I did.
Somehow I knew the regret would never fade.
—Collected by AW
Adder Carslile was later brought in to identify the bodies of his fallen friends. The experience haunted him, but eventually he rose above it to become the most ruthless, uncaring leader the Devoted Ones could ever hope to see. Without his compassion and mercy, eventually he got rid of his own family—the very ones whose danger put him on the path to who he eventually became. At the age of 36, second in command of all the Devoted Ones (assumed to be first), Adder was finally killed by G. Macquoid as revenge for murdering her brother, Joel. All world and character material has been pulled from someday-to-be-bestseller Echo of Memory by K. L. Halcyon.

No word for chocolate—yet. I have a long list of needed words…
I’m making it because I want to. It’s for my novel. It’ll only be in once in a while, but for some reason I’m making an entire language. Cuz… I dunno. I just am.

Fair enough. Doing stuff just cause you can is always a solid reason.
