    Bat shadowed Gaioh, who was just exploring. He was bored. Oh, look, a small boat in the distance. Bat was no longer bored. Now he was just worried. He stared at it. He didn’t think he wanted it, but not wishing to be rude, tucked it into his pocket.

    “Because… isn’t it too much sometimes?” He followed. “Okay. Wait. Here, how about we pause for a second and see if I can actually do it?”

    It was like you use your hunger or emotions or whatever to change gravity or light levels or sound smth the other half was weird shaman magic that did the same things but for a whole room it was bizarre

    That made her very glad. “Are you gonna be okay? With the connection?”

    She shrugged and sunk into the floor up to her ankles. “I dunno. I’m happy now.”

    I’m just better on an unrelated note *screams incoherently* this is the second weirdest magic system I have ever thought up and it’s kinda weird that it’s only the SECOND weirdest though I guess if you cut the other one into its two parts it’s actually third weirdest so uh idk dudes somebody save me

    “Should be able to,” he replied. Then he bit his lip. “I, uh… it kind of psychs me out, because it feels like I’m just gonna bump my head and knock myself out… do we have time to go back downstairs?”

    Bat didn’t like all the talk that was going on. He replaced his dive gear and returned to the water.

    I promised something a little more hopeful, so here I am. 

    Do you ever think about how we’re really just pieces of people we’ve met? Mannerisms, speech patterns… we all take a smile to mean the same thing, even. 

    I have a friend who will stare at me like she’s dead and wave at me with both hands like she’s losing her mind. Sometime, I started waving with both hands too— but in a very energetic and happy way. I’ve taken some of her speech patterns too, and that’s only the most recent one. 

    Most of my writers out there can attest to something similar, but with their writing style. Certain comparisons, perhaps, or overuse of a comma. Both could be easily learned through reading from an author who does those things.

    Many of my favorite song artists come from at least one song recommendation from a friend. My preferred type of outfit comes from a friend. Off the top of my head, the only thing that I can really take credit for is my penchant for candles— you might have heard of them: tall waxy things that blob up as they melt after you put fire on them. Medievalish things in general have been something I liked since I was very small. 

    I kind of like to think that we’re all just little patchwork quilts of things we decide we like. 

    But obviously, there’s always that little spark to pull it together. That little bit of you that makes you more than just a collage of your favorite mannerisms. 

    People make people better. We pick up on good habits, cute words, and fun expressions. We rub off on each other. I’m so glad that the people I’ve had throughout my life have been great people willing to share their little pieces with me. 

    That goes for you guys too (to an extent, of course :D). Especially @Kajsa tbh :P 

    So thank you guys for lending me your pieces. 

    And no, you can’t have them back. :P

      and we all need to like decide on the scene

      We could do what haly did with tropes and vote on like beats and characters or stuff

      If it'd be easier I can just make the thread tomorrow morning.

      Basically, we come up with a simple premise for a scene, and then everyone writes the same scene, and then we compare them. So we'd need to brainstorm a scene first, then each person would write a few pages of what that looks like in their head.

    Bat continued to be very disturbed. “Yeah, yeah.” Low voices could be heard off to the side, behind a strangely placed door.

    I thought it would just make him immune to narration or smth Bat was now extremely disturbed. Was he an Ennuller of some kind? For some reason, that felt like one of the worst things he could possibly be.

    She nodded. She was confused, though. He nodded and stepped forward. “Hey, guys. Uh… I know where a safe place is, if you wanna come in and wait this out…”

    He followed her, figuring one direction was as good as another.

    Welp, happy new year. 

    Feels disappointingly similar. 

    Hopefully it’ll be a good year anyway. 

    I’ll post something more hopeful when I find my braincells.
