    “Lerac?” He followed her at a distance, hoping she’d be okay if he stayed back.

    Bat didn’t like this. It disturbed him.

    He came back and followed her. “Hey, mind if I come with you?” “Strange how?”

    Bat stared.

    “I… guess that’s fair. Look out. I’m coming back.” “Okay. Good.”

    “But… Lerac will get better, right?”

    Bat fidgeted. “It still feels wrong.”

    She shrugged and found a marshmallow. It worked. “It worked!” He frowned, leaning over the hole to look up at her. “But… it’s probably smart to make sure you’re able to do it just in case…”

    Haly waved her hand in front of his face. "Lerac....?" He squirmed. "In... in theory. But I haven't tried falling into the ground yet... look. I'll show you how it works." He stepped up to the hole, took a deep breath, and fell forward. He pivoted around a single point and stumbled onto the bottom end of the floor. "You could try and crawl, if you prefer," he said. "But I feel like you should understand how it works."

    She closed her eyes and felt her muscles relax. "Scud. What did you do?"

    "--I don't think we need to do that. I really don't wanna hurt anyone!"

    "Apparently, yeah. Physically reliant."

    “Because I need my magic or I get all weird. TAAron’s bond is compensating right now.”

    The papers with Nullite only turned blue around the edges. A good inch or so that had no Nullite stayed white.

    He nodded and hurried that direction. He led her to a large, dark hole in the ground a la Encanto— no floor in sight. “Okay,” he said. “You’re gonna think I’m crazy. It takes a hot minute to get used to. But what you’re gonna do is step forward and spin, like…” he mined a little person on the edge of his hand stepping off and rotating down to walk on the bottom of his hand. “Like that. So you’re still walking on the floor, just… the other side of the floor. I’ll go first and catch you.” She deflated. “Oh. Do you maybe… have any ideas?”

    you have a rock imbued with sunlight energy, a piece of glass imbued with sunlight energy, a stick imbued with sunlight energy, a diamond imbued with sunlight energy… etc. what the SCUD do they DO?

    “Couldn’t pay me to do anything different.” His nightingale chirped in affirmation.

    “Uh…..” It felt kind of insensitive to ask, but what could she do? “I… was wondering if you could give me my magic back….” Vey nodded.

    “Yeah… you okay?” “Yeah. Right down those stairs.” He started in that direction.

    Haly felt really sorry for Lerac. Being Death’s assistant sounded like an awful job.

    She nodded. “Okay. That’s probably a safer idea.”

    “…I’m trying to save you and Aela right now.” “Because it’s… uh… under the floor, kinda.”

    “—Oh, okay.” He got some salt water and added it. It had no significant effect.

    “Uh…” he eyed it warily, but got some Nullite into the dropper and did as he said. The Nullite is definitely a lil diluted, but not enough for it to have a significant effect on the effects.

    He thought about that. “Uh…. At least fifty. —oh, that would be great, but… I’m the only one who can go in and out.” “I… dunno.”
