Hmmm, interesting idea Ruin would just control me as a Kandra so that's clearly out. Preservation and Harmony's offer is pretty good, just free powers no strings attached. Honor is tempting too but the Oaths would restrict me in ways that I probably wouldn't like, plus I don't know how honorable I'd be in sticky situations. Cultivation's would be pretty interesting as well, Taravangian and Lift shows just what she can grant. But I think I'd like more clear and consistent things than take a wild gamble. Odium is just straight out for the same reasons as Ruin, except Odium would torture me if I ever disagreed with him. Plus the Fused have shown that their immortality isn't all that pleasant. I'd probably go with Harmony's offer, Feruchemy alone could potentially lead to more powers later on with less cost, plus I like Sazed.

I respectfully disagree on that. That's likely just Roshar's most advanced gun, not necessarily Scadrial's most Advanced gun. Unless you don't care about stealing powers and just want to make sure they're dead, then you could just use an Aluminum Spike which just 'Removes all powers', plus it couldn't be directly affected by any type of Investiture, so it could be more effective than most other metal types. And if the user has some kind of scanner on hand, or maybe just some form of Wikipedia, they could just search up what metals steal what powers, then put in the right type of spike if they wanted to bother with stealing the powers. Just be sure to carry spikes of each type of metal.
-
I just had a thought. In the far future of the Cosmere, they'll likely have more advanced guns. Perhaps even special Awakened guns that automatically aim at what you Intend to shoot at? So instead of having to go through the painstaking process of learning the bindpoints, having dawnshot-levels of aim and just being perfect in general. You could just load a spike of whatever metal, maybe aluminum, point your Awakened Gun at your Invested enemy, have the Intent to Spike them, then pull the trigger as the Gun aims for you.
-
I'd think that while it would be a devastating method of combat, it would probably be something that would be pretty specialized and niche. Since you'd have to learn as many bindpoints as possible and have incredible aim to make full use of it. Though I feel like a future war between Scadrial and Roshar would involve this method of combat against the ridiculously OP healing of Surgebinders.

Iriali and the 16th Shard
JustQuestin2004 replied to in Truth, watcher of tv's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Unless they were really big Splinters, but since the Iriali aren't ultra-Invested Immortals this probably isn't the right answer. Maybe there's multiple groups of Iriali throughout the Cosmere? Or maybe the whole One religion is an exaggeration of what's really going on perpetuated by the 16th Shard to keep the Iriali from asking too many questions. Bit of a stretch but it wouldn't be the first time a Shard has manipulated an entire culture through religion. -
Can Shards Invest multiple Worlds?
JustQuestin2004 replied to JustQuestin2004's question in Cosmere Q&A
Firstly, thank you for replying with so much info, I've never even seen some of these WOBs before. Secondly, so it's much easier for Shards to Invest multiple worlds if they're in the same System but if they aren't it becomes borderline impossible on any meaningful level? Okay that makes sense. -
A question has recently risen in my mind. How many planets could a Shard Invest themselves into? So far most Shards only Invest into a single planet, with Autonomy being a notable exception. Could a Shard potentially Invest themselves into multiple planets to the same degree as Scadrial, even if just in their own system? Just having the idea of a Shard going to a system full of different planets and deciding to go all out in the Investing business.

Did Autonomy cause the Reod?
JustQuestin2004 replied to ScarecrowBoat716's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Wasn't their plan to just kill all the Aonic people? No more Aonic people means no more potential Elantrians right? So they wouldn't have to contain them nor watch out for new ones. -
Did Autonomy cause the Reod?
JustQuestin2004 replied to ScarecrowBoat716's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Considering just how OP AonDor is meant to be and how Elantrians are fricken immortal. Yeah,I'd be pretty cautious too. But if Wyrn is supposedly the only one who can worship Jaddeth, thus perhaps Autonomy's main pawn on Sel, then why wouldn't Autonomy just tell Wyrn "Hey, those stupidly OP immortal demi-gods over yonder are totally helpless now, get em". Unless they truly weren't that high on their to-do list. Since Elantrians have even less range on their powers than most other Selish Arts do. Thus being a mostly contained issue. With the Reod being their first time of weakness probably in centuries. That is until, Raoden discovered how AonDor actually works, which could result in an 'Investiture Revolution'? With new discoveries being found that could help them use AonDor in other regions? Like studying the magic symbols of other Selish Arts perhaps. Thus if Jaddeth/Autonomy really did cause the Reod, then perhaps Autonomy has just shot herself in the foot big time? -
Did Autonomy cause the Reod?
JustQuestin2004 replied to ScarecrowBoat716's topic in Cosmere Discussion
If Jaddeth/Autonomy did cause he Earthquake and made the Elantrians near-powerless bald zombies, then why did they not send in their Dahkor Monks to slaughter everyone right after it instead of waiting 10 whole years? -
Now that sounds really interesting. That works very well indeed. I might even be a little inspired.
-
Hmmm, I wonder what would come about if Dominion and Autonomy were merged? It's been shown that even shards with opposite Intents can be merged and Autonomy is a total control freak. I honestly don't know what you would even call that.

Because when other people use Precognition, no matter how weak they are in it, it will inevitably muck up other people's Precognition. Just like when two people Burn Atium and look at each other, they can't see a single Future Shadow. Ruin is also confirmed to be less good at Precognition than other Shards such as Preservation, who is one of the best and managed to out plan Ruin.

How did Vin control the Koloss in Mistborn: Well of Ascension book?
JustQuestin2004 replied to IEarthan's topic in Mistborn
Eh, I thought it was good, but can I understand that it's not your cup of tea though. I think that Brandon just wouldn't be able to fit everything that he wanted to write within just two books, since he needed to explain Hemalurgy, Ruin, the Koloss, the Kandra and also develop the characters further like with Elend becoming more of a realist and Spook becoming awesome. -
How did Vin control the Koloss in Mistborn: Well of Ascension book?
JustQuestin2004 replied to IEarthan's topic in Mistborn
Because you need Duralumin to boost your Soothing/Rioting to seep your own will into the Hemalurgic Cracks in their souls, once you have make the initial Connection, you can control them even without metals. Not sure, probably because she wasn't sure it would work at first, then once it did she immediately upscaled. -
Theory: Svrakiss are Autonomy
JustQuestin2004 replied to JustQuestin2004's topic in Cosmere Discussion
That makes more sense, after all people suddenly gaining red eyes and talking really creepily definitely wouldn't be good for PR.- 2 replies

Since the maybe-confirmation that the god of Shu-Dereth, Jaddeth, is another Avatar of Autonomy. This has made me wonder about the 'Svrakiss' and a theory that they may be one in the same, and perhaps that the Fjordell Empire isn't quite as under Autonomy's control as she would like. It's said that Svrakiss are capable of taking over the bodies of men and controlling their actions, sound familiar? Autonomy is capable of controlling certain people like puppets, as shown at the end of BoM and in TLM. It is shown that they are seen as demons, being blamed for bad luck, etc. This makes me think that perhaps a few people in Fjordell have an inkling as to their 'god's' true nature and that the Svrakiss are a subtle warning that was never truly understood. So maybe in the Elantris Sequel, we'll be seeing some Fjordell's who aren't too keen on Jaddeth's Awakening.

I was thinking about a little quirk about the Aons I saw form the page on the Coppermind: So if you drew an Aon in the dirt with stick, then rubbed it away, then wrote another Aon exactly where the first one was, what will happen? Will both Aons work? Will they interfere with each other?

Can a 4th Oath Radiant make MiniBlades from Subspren?
JustQuestin2004 posted a question in Cosmere Q&A
I've been wondering, when a Radiant gets their Shardblade they can shape it into whatever form they want so long as it is one single object, such as a spear, shield or even a bucket just for fun. Does this also apply to the Lesser Spren that make up Shardplate? Would it be possible for Kaladin to make Shardknives from the Windspren that form his armor? It's already been shown that he has enough control over the Plate to form it over other people to protect them.- 4 replies

I've had many ideas for fanfictions, some of them involved the Cosmere and I really, really want to talk about them. So here I go. This idea is Mistborn Symphony, a story that takes place in between Era 1 and 2, Era 1.5 if you will. Scadrial is very different from the way it should be, due to the Shards of Preservation and Ruin not being in harmony. This has led to Scadrial being fixed somewhat incorrectly with the continents being cracked apart into a massive archipelago. Humanity was saved, though life isn't as easy. The Mists have changed, they no longer cover the entire world, they are usually found far from civilization. They are also composed of both Preservation and Ruin, and they still Snap people into Allomancers, though a bit differently. Instead of merely awakening what's already there, pieces of the Mists leak into the soul and raise both the Innate Investiture of Preservation. and Ruin. On the plus side, the Mists can turn anyone (provided they are Scadrian) into a Misting! The bad news is that they also curse those foolish enough to enter the Mists with a horrific Malady that will stay with them until the end of their lives. The Mists are known in these days as the Maladic Mists. The type of Malady given to someone depends on what type of Misting they become. For example Bronze Mistings have their sense of hearing become hypersensitive, making even mundane conversation painful to hear. Heres the chart of Maladies that I have written up, feel free to come up with your own: The purpose of the Maladies in this story are because I want Allomancy to be more common, but for there to be to be a high price for the ease of acquiring it. A Malady functions similarly like a Curse from the Old Magic of Roshar. It is part of the soul and no one will know how to use Hemalurgy to separate them. It can also be inherited by children. The Maladic Mists will probably just kill unprotected Worldhoppers. Plus it also adds a cool environmental danger like the Highstorms of Roshar. Scadrians have discovered that certain Rhythms that resemble Bronze Pulses can influence the Mists in certain ways, making it safer for ships to sail through. So Symphonics, people trained to play the Allomantic Rhythms, are an important part of any ship's crew, not only protecting the crew from the Mists but also playing music to ease the monotony of a long journey. A constant threat are pirates, especially criminals who willingly become cursed with maladies in exchange for power greater than the average man. These necasitate that crews should have their own Metalborn, resulting in most crews having Metalborn of their own, some Natural and others Maladic. This story will follow the path of a boy, a descendant of the Keepers, as he has been proclaimed to be the True Hero of Ages. He has been sent on a journey to discover his past, with his crew consisting of many interesting individuals, such as a Maladic Seeker who claims to have been taught by Death himself, a Mysterious Mistborn running from her past, and others they will meet along the way. What do you guys think?

And when you run out, you'll have to refill it with the help of others. But this might let you bypass the need for Innate Investiture since it's all just Kinetic Investiture that you've just put away for later use, so you don't need to be a Coinshot if you Sap A-Steel from someone, it's just a finite pool of power waiting to be used instead of an actual permanent ability. Edit: A good metaphor for how a Sapper might work is this: You have an empty bucket with no tap to fill it, so you find someone else with a tap and a bucket then tip the water in their bucket into yours, you don't take their tap nor their bucket, just the water. It's meant to be like you're 'Sapping' someone's power for yourself. Not explosions.

Interesting, but then you probably wouldn't be able to hoard the powers for later, it'd probably be a 'use it or lose it' kind of thing. My idea was that either A-Chromium Savantism or the Resonance would allow the Sapper to control where the power is Leeched to, instead of it fading entirely. Of course it'd be touch based, wouldn't make sense otherwise. I'm pretty sure that you wouldn't need metals to use the stored powers since the metals would technically already be 'Burned' and all you would be Leeching is the Investiture provided by it. It'd be interesting to see how it would work for other Invested Arts, would it effectively allow you to steal Breaths from people? Could you briefly attain AonDor by Leeching an Elantrian? So many possibilities. It'd almost be like a more limited but less horrifying version of Hemalurgy, especially since you wouldn't keep the powers permanently since you'd only have a limited amount of Invesiture stored up at a single time and couldn't refuel it by yourself.

Here's a few ideas of my own: -Camouflage, because their undisguised bodies are pretty transparent anyway, all they'd need to do is practice with making their bodies as transparent as possible or eating a bunch of chameleons or cuttlefish or whatever their Scadrian equivalent are. -Chimera Animals, take a more refined approach to their Mistwraith cousins and pick up the skeletons of particular Cosmere creatures, then mix and match the bones until they can make something better than the sum of it's parts, like a Whitespine from Roshar combined with a Nightmaw from First of the Sun. That sounds like an absolute terror to me.

I've been having a look at the Twinborn Names, from the mostly non-canon Mistborn RPG thing that Idon't know much about and I saw a particular combo that caught my eye. The Sapper, the Twinborn of A-Chromium and F-Nicrosil. The little description next to it says that a Sapper 'Steals and hoards the powers of others'. I know, I know, stuff from the RPG isn't really canon and shouldn't be taken too seriously unless Brandon says something about it, but I've been wondering about the feasability of this pairing nd wondering whether it would actually do as described. A-Chromium enables a person to 'Leech' away Kinetic Investiture, such as Allomantic Metals, Stormlight, Breaths, etc. F-Nicrosil enables a person to store 'Innate Invesititure', the powers not the fuel, into Nicrosiminds. At first glance from this couldn't work as described, A-Chromium wouldn't enable the taking of powers, just the Fuel. F-Nicrosil can't (From what little we know) store the Fuel like Stormlight. Also when a Leecher leeches the Fuel it simply disappears into the Ether. But perhaps either Savantism or a Resonance, probably both, can make this work. Though there is no actual evidence as to what the effects of Leecher-Savantism is nor what the Resonance for this combination of powers could be, there isn't exactly any proof against it either, though that isn't exactly how the scientific method works unfortunately. Any ideas? Or is this simply impossible and I'm just rambling on about non-canonical nonsense?
