  1. There hasn't been a full review post I don't think, though I could work one up probably. I've only skimmed it so far. It was light on what I was looking for (pre-Ascension lore).
  2. It is hereditary. You either have the ability to use Feruchemy or you don't, even children can use it though it does take some practice. (this is based on WoB as well as the MAG Wrought of Copper)
  3. I think by definition, if the Order of Skybreakers wouldn't approve, it would preclude him from attracting a highspren because the spren are attracted by actions which define their orders, just like all other spren are attracted to their spren ideal. Which stinks because I was totally on board with the Skybreaker Adolin based on the idea that "Justice" isn't the same as "lawfulness". I read Nin/Nalan's lawful approach as a corruption of the original "Justice" ideal embodied by the Skybreakers. Having that thought busted right (*grumble grumble* stinkin' word of Brandon...) then I agree that Dustbrings are probably the next best order for Adolin, as he is indeed Brave and Obedient to a fault. I LOVE the idea of him somehow reviving his blade, and agree that it could be a possibility based on the shared surge with Edgedancers. Maybe he and Kaladin will both somehow be the champions who fight Odium's champion (like in the arena... perhaps that is foreshadowing as well?)
  4. Would you like to destroy Evil today??

  5. Glad you did, I couldn't find it! I still that quote means that the size of the spike determines something. Namely how long it can hold a larger % of the investiture before degrading. the smaller the spike the less time it can be out of a body before losing power.
  6. But land in Shadesmar is water... so what would a chasm become... a whirlpool? a spire? I'm going to go back and have a look at a couple of scenes in Elantris to see if I can figure this...
  7. This is being talked about in another couple of threads right now too I think. it would be interesting to see Elantrians roaming around Shadesmar, though I would tend to think that they wouldn't have been released from their torment of the Reod if they weren't in Sel at that time... interesting concept though for the Elantrians who passed through before the Reod though!
  8. I do think that size matters in the amount of investiture it can steal/hold though. Like a metalmind can only hold so much and that is determined by the size of it as well.
  9. Great observations. I still hope that Axies is an Aimian Radiant with the whole shadow thing and the scholarly bent thing, but it could be a false correlation on my part!
  10. From the Chicago signing: So that explains why she disappears for like 90 chapters! And in timeline it is what, about 2 months?
  11. We actually have a WoB to the opposite effect: There are also a couple of WoB related to him having Hemalurgic spikes: 1 & 2: and: So he was indeed rocking all three metallic arts and thus subject to Ruin's influence.
  12. Why wouldn't TLR have had the other metals? He didn't let other people know about them, but that didn't mean he didn't have many of them...
  13. I must say... I was disappointed to drop from a Shardbearer down to an Arteth!
  14. Probably a combination of: And the fact that Vin fueled her allomancy at that point WITH the mists, which would be way strong even compared to TLR's allomancy. And there is NO way he could have predicted that or resisted it. It's not in the text, but you don't think he was trying to Iron pull those metalminds back to him when Vin sent them flying? Plus he immediately started to revert in age to a 1000 year old... probably pretty hard to concentrate on anything with that going on in your body.
  15. I just plunked down the $, and am only skimming it right now, but it looks like there isn't a grand history of Feruchemy. Only that it's hereditary among the Terris people. All "history" stuff prior to TLR doesnt' seem to be much outside of what we learn in the Trilogy. So far I've been a little disappointed on the history front. I was hoping for more canon info on the pre-Ascension times personally. There i a lot of great worldbuilding in the Final Empire era and fluff around that, just hoped for more canon "lost lore" somehow. EDIT: that said.... there is also some good expounding info on the various metalminds and the attributes they store that should inform some discussions and theory's around here (I think). Assuming that the MAG is "canon" for the purposes of realmatics that is...
  16. This really makes me wonder... perhaps you are correct. Rock meets a man, probably Hoid, coming from the lake (probably with a shardpool or as the shardpool) in his homeland. But if Hoid only traveled via Shardpools, then he wouldn't have had to search out the Well of Ascension right? he would have known where it was already?
  17. Mighten Khriss be Iyatil? Mraize's Babsk? She is described as having dark tan skin, and seems to be the leader of a group dedicated to gathering knowledge related to different cosmere worlds? She's obviously a world hopper: Maybe she's Khriss as well? I'll have to re-read her description in White Sands...
  18. Healing has to do with "how you see yourself". We don't have concrete answers on whether that is purely Cognitive, Spiritual or a blend. I personally think that its a blend of the Spiritual "ideal" and your Cognitive self.
  19. So Cultivation created the Formics and just watched as Ender wiped them out? It actually surprises me that people are saying they would take some of the "negative" shards. I wouldn't touch those with a 10' pole because I know that it would eventually warp me to its intent. I suppose if you purposefully splinter yourself while you can still control it, but I don't know if that makes it better. Then the intent is more widespread though perhaps diluted.
  20. We do know that there were human populated worlds pre-Shattering. There are also non-shard worlds with humans on them.
  21. Totally derailing this topic, but I agree they can transfer memories, that is essentially what Tanavast is doing with Dalinar and the visions afterall. I guess I was having a misunderstanding between myself and your post. I read it and thought you were talking about a shard creating a system of magics that the people of that world could access. But it now seems like you mean "magics the Shard can set up for itself outside of the system humans can access"? If so, then I agree!
  22. Ahh, I hadn't seen that WoB yet. Just found it and looked for it.
  23. Perhaps Khriss and not the dragon is running the 17th Shard... maybe the Dragon is running the Ghostbloods... or vice versa!
  24. There is a thread that has some good discussion on that very topic (started by yours truly) called the Bondsmiths 3 that you should check out!
