  1. You can read the whole book for free at Brandon's site Just use the navigation drop down in the top right. You might still be able to download the pdf somewhere on there.
  2. To be honest, we don't really understand the connections here either. We know that a sword sounding just like Nightlbood shows up towards the end. We know that Zahel sounds an awful lot like Vasher, and I'm fairly certain there is confirmation there on that. here is a WoB that all but confirms it. What we don't know is the why or how they got there! So there are some very large gaps in our knowledge, but I'm looking forward to SA #3 to see Vasher realizing that Nightblood is in the hands of the assassin in White and trying to do something about that!
  3. To me it looks like Vin gets younger looking in each cover. She looks the most "mature" in the Mistborn cover, while super young in the HoA cover. I'm not a fan of the "YA re-branding" with the mistborn novels.
  4. Possible? Yes. Likely? I doubt it. The crazy nobleman/woman is probably the best case scenario of this happening. Either way though, as other have pointed out, the Kandra contracts are VERY expensive, being paid in Atium. We don't have a great scale for the value of Aitum, but per the MAG "The metal is so valuable that caches of it are used instead of money for most critical purchases and deals... all the great house count atium as a core measure of their wealth." The other thing about kandra contracts... while long running, are in fact finite in duration. I'm on the fence about being able to interbreed with Kandra, though I'm leaning towards "wouldn't work". Though, there is "always another secret."
  5. I'm not that interested in horror stories, Shadows for Silence exempted. And it's non-cosmere? I probably won't be plunking down the $ for it then... Unless there are some glowing reviews, I can't justify $11 for the Kindle version for a 15 page story (I doubt I will read any of the others).
  6. Only if they are given additional breaths. When they return, they've only got their divine breath and they will consume that within a week without getting additional breaths, at least 1/week. You can use the Divine breath to awaken, we have a WoB on that, but you'd only be able to do it once...
  7. There is a mention in AoL of which would block emotional allomancy.
  8. There was a typo in some of the original Mistborn manuscripts that had it as Adonasium, but Brandon has said that was wrong, this interview I'm sure that it is influenced by the Hebrew word "Adonai", but I don't have an issue with it as Brandon has decreed: Adonalsium, especially since I don't say it... pretty much ever, just write it!
  9. Great catch, I did NOT remember that
  10. Where does it say that someone other than Gavilar and Dalinar received the visions? I must have missed that part in my reading...
  11. I would think that the ones best suited to "great subterfuge" would be the Lightweavers wouldn't they?
  12. YAY! I didn't want to hunt down the ebook version that has this, it's not on the kindle version yet. I don't know if we have any indication where TES fits into the Cosmere Timeline yet do we? Windrunner theorized that it was 30 years after Elantris. Elantris II was supposed to be 10 years after Elantris, which are both hundreds of years before Mistborn. EDIT: great thought on Ralkalest being Aluminum!
  13. It could interfere with the spiked person, but shouldn't matter to the person who was spiked and had that part of their sDNA ripped out (assuming they survived). Forging might be able to heal them...
  14. Maybe another Returned we haven't met, but probably not Vasher, and we've accounted for the other "5 Scholars" from Warbreaker, at least in text. I'm thinking it's a cameo for the artist as Coppermind mentions, but could Brandon turn that character into something more cosmere related? sure!
  15. A few WoB on this: First: Second: Third:
  16. I kind of assumed that Brandon would release/edit/publish his massive personal world building Wiki for the cosmere at the end of the whole cycle as an encyclopedia thing... I know I would buy it!
  17. i would say since people attract the spren through their actions/thoughts/mindset, that the ability of the KR to get along is going to be a big part of their "dynamic" in the coming books, regardless of the spren themselves.
  18. Yup, hindsight is indeed 20/20. This thread was pre-WoR release We have not discussed that aspect of it, but that is a good point in the larger scheme of "What is going on with Cusciech??" question. I'm going to have to re-read that chapter again now and think on the plates... Thanks!
  19. That Q/A in the book brings up some interesting ideas, though I still like my original theory the best on this one. There are 3 moons... 3 Bondsmiths (potentially). Perhaps the Stormfather and the other "BondsmithSpren" are native to the moons of Roshar or reside there most of the time? My thought on the picture though is that looks very much like the heliodor from the endpage map of Roshar. Great catch on the dream focusing on sunlight, and on the epigraph related to the unique ability of the Bondsmiths. There is definitely something to all this, but I'm afraid we are missing some crucial pieces of information to tie it all together.
  20. I think Gavilar's secret was the visions and his plans... The visions gave him the plan to unite "them" which since he had just finished uniting Athlekar, it meant now the whole world as well as refounding the Knights Radiant. He shared his plan with T and Amaram (his BFF's?), Thiadakar, and the Parshendi. Why he shared it with everyone BUT his family... who knows right now. Gavilar is killed by the Parshendi after sharing his plans to refound the knights radiant, as they feared the return of their gods, using the Honorblade wielding Shin to kill Gavilar (in a spectacular manner). How they got Szeth is still a mystery, I'm thinking Ghostbloods had a hand in it though. After Gavilar dies, T and Amaram disagree on how best to follow Gavilar's plan/visions. Not receiving them themselves, they split and found a couple of different groups. T goes to the Nightwatcher to get a Boon, writes the Diagram on his best day, now follows it as best they can. Meanwhile Amaram's group is trying to encourage the return of the voidbringers which will encourage the spren to bond with humans again, thus refounding the Knights Radiant.
  21. If you went to the Cognitive Realm before Nightblood was awakened, there would have been a glass bead that said "I'm a sword!". It held the idea of a sword. Then half the same level as a Divine Breath worth of normal breaths (investiture) was pumped into him, 1000 breaths, tied to the "ideal/idea" of "Destroy Evil". I believe, especially based on the WoB that says Nightblood = Shardblade, that he is a "DestroyEvilSpren" given life "artificially" by humans messing around with the magics of their world, as opposed to the cognitive entities that arise passively because of natural beliefs & ideals. There may be an Ideal of "destroy evil" in the Spiritual Realm which could attract/form a spren, but that is a very specific thing and so I think it would be very hard to have a spren of that type, especially because most people can't even really agree on what is "evil", it would be hard to form a spren around an idea/ideal on which most people can't agree. That is why I think he is warped, because unlike normal spren who seem to have some innate knowledge of abstract concepts (Syl, Wyndle, Pattern even...) Nightblood doesn't really. He is more like a hack to the "spren system" that the Awakeners managed to do, and now that his creator is dead, no one can draw the breaths back out to "undo the code" on the hacked system. His coginitive aspect of "I'm a sword" was super charged with all those breaths, and a sword doesn't "know what evil is" as Vasher says in Warbreaker. Syl as an honor spren can cognitively and intuitively grasp "right and wrong", I'm guessing so can the other bonded spren who we've seen. It may not matter to them, but they know what it is anyway. Nightblood doesn't have that conceptualizing ability, because he's originally just a normal object cognitive entity (which are basically mindless, c.f. "I'm a stick!"), supercharged and expected to have an innate tie/concept about things for which he can't conceive. Realmatically, based on WoB, we know he is the same as a Shardblade which means he's the same as a spren. I think practically though, he is an artificial spren who wouldn't normally have arisen without the intervention and hacking of humans and the magic systems. -sorry for the rambling, but I think I finally get my point across.
  22. As far as I know, we only know a single Aimian right now for sure. His shadow points opposite direction, but that could be because Axies is a secret elsecaller who has bonded with the same type of spren that Jasnah has (not likely I know). I'd be surprised if Mrall was an actual sociopath as opposed to the 2nd race of Aimian, but you'd also think given the superstition surrounding Aimians that T would know, on his good or bad days that one of his closest servants is a "B-Type" Aimian and therefore wouldn't be surprised by the whole emotion cut off thing if that was that race of Aimian's "ability". I would also be surprised if he had an Aimian as a servant that close without any internal monologue commenting on "oh that's right, emotions cut off, those Aimian's are weird..." or something to that effect. Heck, I'd be surprised if he had an Aimian with him given the level of superstition with which they seem to be regarded.
  23. Right now the "superspren" that we've seen are Stormfather, Nightwatcher, and Cusciech, those are the 3 leading candidates right now. I don't think the Stormfather is an honorspren in the strictest terms. I guess I'm in the camp that each order of Radiants bonds a different spren type, so to make a Bondsmith, the stormfather couldn't therefore be an honorspren. He may be a spren of Honor, but I don't think those are the same. Like a square and a rectangle...
  24. Fairly spoilery but I feel on point: WoR spoiler: My first reference is a pretty big interaction with the physical world for a spren I'd say!
  25. I haven't seen that one... do you have the source Observer?
