"Why not?" She held the door open for him. It was sinister and gloomy outside in the gardens.

Mae carefully walked through the halls, heels tapping on the wood. However, she seemed to be going to the gardens, rather than the drawing room. All she said was "I think I'd like some fresh air."

"How's that for some thrill?" She grinned at Aaron from their enclosure in the labyrinth. The light from the hole still lit up the area and they could see the sky where the bird glided. At least it provided a bit more protection.

"I suppose so." She stood up slowly. "i seem to have gotten tired of poker, would you accompany me to the drawing room?"

"Okay I was wrong!" Jane said quickly before scurrying into where they had dug out of the labyrinth, pulling Aaron with her. @Weaver of Lights

"Just stay safe. Crouch down, maybe. Let's try to get this bird to come down here. I need to inspect it more closely." She continued her whistling and began to wave a hand in the air, calling out to the bird. @SmilingPanda19

Her eyes widened, almost naively. "No but-" She looked at the card. "There wasn't- The deck had-" She looked back up at him. "Impossible." But still, reluctantly she pushed the chips back over to his side of the table.

"Nah, it's just looking about. I mean sure, it looks like it's circling it's prey, but trust me, I think we need this bird to come down here. Something's off about nature in these games. But this bird is important. Let's get it to come closer to the ground." She looked back up, squinting in the sun. "Besides, if it wanted to attack us, we'd be dead by now. That's a bird of prey, for sure."

A small smile slid across Mae's face. She set down her final two cards, a look of triumph burning in her eyes. "So there we have it, don't we?" She raised an eyebrow, "Don't take it to heart, Envoy. I'm sure you'll do better in the games to come."

"Oh come on. Aaron?" She broke her gaze with the bird to run towards him and grab his arm. She steadied herself and whistled in bird calls.

"Hey there!" Jane said, raising her voice and waving, trying to get the birds attention. "My talent is animal magnetism," She whispered to Aaron, "I think I know how to handle this." She swayed from side to side, not in jerky prey movements but in attention-catching strong ones- asserting her presence to the swooping bird. "Or maybe not." She wouldn't break eye contact from where the bird was in the sky, "Who knows. Everything's weird here. Out of place. There's no natural order. It's all so... strange."

Jane Cora Rae pulled her hair out of her face from the wind. "Do you see anything from where the tree was? Is the bird still there?" She asked Aaron. @SmilingPanda19

"Let's go check it out anyway. We'll only go in if it gets really bad."

Jane screamed a little, sprinting in the other direction. She called out behind her, "Tornado- or- hurricane- or- I dunno, but we need to find shelter." She stopped, crouching down to the ground and feeling for any pulse. "Where was the labryinth? I think that's our only safe bet."

"Be prepared, though," She whispered through gritted teeth as they approached the tree and the direction from which the shouting was heard.

"No!" She held his arm, pulling him back, "We need to go towards them. I know we do. There's something there. We can't just ignore it! And we'll need to face it eventually. I just can't lose you before we do."

"Where's that coming from?" Jane frantically glanced around, clutching her knives. Jane tripped into Aaron. "This doesn't look good..."

"Sounds like a plan." She began marching off in whatever direction she found suitable. But her eyes wilted a little, knowing she was walking into her death. Aspen, why are you so far away? Delilah... why are you so close?

"Eh, not really." She gazed about, trying to see if there was anything nearby. @SmilingPanda19 "We should probably go closer to the forest. There doesn't seem to be much around here."

"Huh. I can use daggers. And slingshots. Watch this-" She took a hairtie from her wrist and bent down to get a pebble. She pulled back the elastic and released, hitting Aaron on the nose.
