    My ward is the same way. A few years ago our boundaries changed and we got moved to a different building (that's about a 20 minute drive away) and away from our awesome youth group. In the new ward everyone stares at their phones all the time and no one wants to pay attention or interact with anyone else, and literally there's a stigma with participating in class. It's pretty sad. Even at the more fun youth activities no one ever really wants to talk to everyone, and no matter how many times I try to break the ice, no one cracks. Very disheartening. Also, hi! On a lighter note, I'm also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! Hello everyone; glad to be here!

    Well, maybe some might feel satisfied with being the "sidekick" in their own story and watching others have adventures and drama, but my personal opinion is that the more you try to care for and about people that you'll experience more joy that you ever would otherwise. And besides, being the main character is all the more exciting Here's one for the crowd: does one have the right to be happy, or do they earn it?
