  1. I'm just a Nonbinary nerd popping in to say hi.
  2. Thanks for the clarification! I like that system.
  3. I find Keefe to be very self-righteous. Fitzphie is the obvious ship. (Please don't shun me for eternity)
  4. I like it. It's a little generic, especially in Book 1, but it's still really good.
  5. WOW. THAT IS EPIC.
  6. Love it! I have two main questions: 1. How deep does specialization go? Is there a system where you have control over water and air, so you get ice magic, so you specialize in conjuring weapons out of ice, etc, or is it just that you can do whatever with the magic that you have? 2. The ultimate fantasy macguffin: how do people become mages? Thanks!
  7. Warning! Major spoilers for Rhythm of War ahead. I have put my response in a hidden text box for this reason. Anyway, I agree with your theory. Cool idea!
  8. Wow. This is amazing
  9. I disagree. Moash did a LOT of horrible things. Sure, he isn't as bad as Dalinar was in his backstory, but he certainly did some pretty horrid things. The reason that Dalinar is a protagonist and Vyre is the foil for Kaladin is mostly because he didn't try to seek redemption. Dalinar went to Cultivation to seek forgiveness, but when Moash became Vyre, he just wanted to erase his guilt. As far as a redemption arc goes, I think that he will probably remain a foil for Kaladin throughout most of Stormlight. But to quote Renarin Kholin: "I lived through my father's return, and it taught me that no one is too far gone that they cannot be redeemed." So who knows? Regardless of his destination, he will probably get some more attention in the coming books.
  10. Nice theory! However, a small detail: Yelig-Nar grants access to all surges. However, the Fused maintain that Adhesion is a false surge, as it is not of both Honor and Cultivation, but just of Honor. Thus, a new fan theory emerges. Either Yelig-Nar cannot grant the Surge of Adhesion, or Yelig-Nar was able to grant Adhesion before turning into an Unmade. If the first, it's a cool technicality. If the second, that might indicate that there is more to the Unmade than we know.
  11. Well! That's another Stormlight faction! I am definitely able to sort out all of their goals. (Storms, Gavilar's goals are going to mess up everything, aren't they.)
  12. Hello! I'm NerdyAarakocra, a D&D junkie by day, Mistborn by night, and MTG nerd at dusk. Pleased to make your digital acquaintance!
  13. I will head up this post by saying that while I like Jasnah, she's a bit of a jerk. First: Why I like Jasnah Jasnah is a fun character. She's competent, overkill, and everything that you want in a Stormlight character. In Way of Kings, she's a one-dimensional, static, and very minor character. She feels sort of like a backdrop for Shallan. But she doesn't stay that way for long. At the end of Way of Kings, she starts to become more relatable. She starts getting pretty fleshed out in books 3+. She's not unreasonably perfect: she grapples with insecurity, as shown in the prologue of Oathbringer. She's afraid of not being able to protect her family, as well as being behind on the curve. She's walled off because of this, and as of Rhythm of War, she's only just starting to truly open up. Her shell is slowly breaking open, and I can't wait for her to get the relevance she deserves Second: Why I think that she's a jerk I could make a lengthy argument here, but let's face it: we've all read Way of Kings. As she opens up, mainly to Shallan and Wit, she becomes less of a jerk, and she's becoming less of one the more we see her insecurities. All the same, here's a quote: "How often has "hope" been the reason someone refuses to move on and accept a realistic attitude? How often has "hope" caused more pain or delayed healing? How often has "hope" prevented someone from standing up and doing what needs to be done, because they cling to a wish for everything to be different?” -Jasnah Kholin, to Dalinar Kholin So yes, I really like Jasnah. However, she definitely has a lot of character development in her future. Thank you for reading this rant.
  14. I dunno. I'm playing the longshot, and I'd put five ruby marks on this outcome: 1. Dalinar looses 2. Everything is very problematic. 3. Somehow, Dalinar tricks Odium into breaking his word Remember that quote? "If I break my word, our contract is void, and I would be in your power." There's a lot of foreshadowing in the deal scene about someone breaking their word. It would be quite improbable if that wasn't foreshadowing some oathbreaking-based plot twist. Given Sanderson's writing style, I find it a pretty good theory.
  15. "This is life, and I will not lie by saying every day will be sunshine. But there will be sunshine again, and that is a very different thing to say. That is truth. I promise you, Kaladin: You will be warm again." - Wit
