Long Game 90: Undiluted Powers
The Bookwyrm replied to Araris Valerian's topic in Sanderson Elimination
...I'm changing my vote from Ashbringer to Kasimir. Partly as a retaliation vote, and partly because it's weird to change your vote like five times.- 788 replies

Calano, at one point, and I can't remember where exactly, you said something along the lines of: "Yeah, I'm a hopeless romantic. Deal with it." ...Reading these has only enforced that fact. But seriously, these are good. Some of them are really powerful. I can't wait to see what you keep writing!

The Battle for the Sandwich
The Bookwyrm replied to AltonicKeys's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
This breaks your brain a little, allowing me to steal the sandwich. Unfortunately, it breaks my brain too, so I babble about how the sandwich is a cucumber for a few minutes.- 13683 replies

The Battle for the Sandwich

I get up and trade the wolves the sandwich for some meat that is much tastier to them than the sandwich, despite the fact that the sandwich is the tastiest thing in the universe. Ignore my logical fallacy.- 13683 replies

The Longest Thread (Misadventures)
The Bookwyrm replied to ElephantEarwax's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Her tears became the seeds of the new worlds. Each of them soaked through the formless verdant field. They twinkled in a sourceless light, and ignited, becoming the universe's first stars. Planets and beings came into existence. Galaxies, systems, structures beyond mortal imagining. An infinite, boundless existence sprung forth from her sorrow. And yet, through it all, the woman wept, unseeing of the majesty she was creating.- 111832 replies

Long Game 90: Undiluted Powers
The Bookwyrm replied to Araris Valerian's topic in Sanderson Elimination
It was kind of a poke vote...I guess I'm not as opposed to them as I thought. I mean....I could change my vote to one of them....but it's hard to be accurately suspicious of anyone on day one. And I do see that you're trying to be inclusive and get the newer players involved. So maybe I should cut you some slack....- 788 replies

That...might work. Maybe? I think using Connection feruchemy in some way would allow you to do this, but I don't know how. It's probably a lot more complicated than what you have here. But it should be possible.

I think it's hard to label any specific magic system as the "strongest", because each has strengths and weaknesses and work differently in different situations. While Hemalurgy has an incredible range of applications and combinations, on its own, you can't really consider it "powerful" because it needs other magic to work. Forgery (and all Selish magic, really) can do some amazing things, but it stops working the farther you get from it's geographic source of power, so labeling it the "strongest" would only work based on location. Surgebinding is powerful in that the Surges themselves hold great power and that the investiture needed to power it is easily accessible, but it also has many restrictions to make sure you aren't using it all over the place. Summarized, whichever magic is the "strongest" is going to depend on where you are, what you have, who's using it, and what or who you're up against. Brandon Sanderson has made sure to limit and balance every one of his magic systems in clever ways, which ensures that one isn't necessarily stronger than the other.

Okay then.... we'll just go with Ashbringer, because I think it's weird to vote for someone who hasn't even posted yet. (And yes, Mat, I realize that you just did the same thing, but I'm going with it anyway.)- 788 replies

Long Game 90: Undiluted Powers
The Bookwyrm replied to Araris Valerian's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Wait...so we just kind of vote randomly at first? This is my first game and I am still slightly confused. *** Rylim Libran stood on the balcony of the Libran mansion, overlooking a portion of Tyrian Falls. There was a light ashfall at the moment, but not enough that he felt the need to go inside. The red sun shone above, marking the time as some point in the late afternoon. A messenger had shown up earlier today bearing grave news. On top of the troubles with the nearby Koloss Garrison, there were apparently people among the population of Tyrian Falls who were spiked, just like those Inquisitors the Lord Ruler used. And they were causing problems. With Rylim's father practically on his deathbed, the responsibility of running the house had fallen primarily on him. And this did not bode well for anyone who wanted to keep themselves and their house stable. A servant ducked out onto the balcony. "My lord," he said respectfully, "Your father would like to speak to you." Of course he would, Rylim thought wryly. He wants to make sure I handle this situation his way, and not my own. My dearest father, ever afraid of someone screwing with his house and reputation. Rylim nodded curtly to the servant and turned and walked inside. The coming days and weeks were going to be quite interesting indeed... ***- 788 replies

Insanity Clinic For The Moderately Brandofandonitis Afflicted
The Bookwyrm replied to Going_North_cal's topic in Roleplaying
Bookwyrm smiled. "You have more power than you realize," he said. "You could probably do something similar if you put your mind to it." He turned and looked out over the valley again before resting his eyes on the path out of the foothills. "But yeah, you're right. We should go." Bookwyrm started walking. -

Insanity Clinic For The Moderately Brandofandonitis Afflicted
The Bookwyrm replied to Going_North_cal's topic in Roleplaying
The two of them found themselves in the foothills of a gigantic mountain range. The mountains were incredibly tall, and covered with snow on their upper levels. They were made of grey stone and extended east and west as far as Bookwyrm could see. The sky was a brilliant blue, filled with a few stray clouds, and a warm sun shone overhead. They were high enough in the foothills that they got a nice view of the valley below: a beautiful, verdant green landscape that extended for miles, filled with tropical grasslands and hills and forests, before ending at a deep blue ocean in the vast distance. Bookwyrm thought he could make out settlements among that landscape. Bookwyrm snapped his fingers and changed into sturdy travelling gear: A blue tunic with trousers and leather boots, and a deep blue cloak that wrapped around him. A staff appeared in his hand. He then turned to Insa. "You ready to head out?" He also quickly sent a mental message to @CalanoCorvus. We've arrived in the dimension, he said. I think I can make out a few settlements, so we'll investigate. -
Lyras nodded his thanks again and left. He turned out of the alley and back onto one of the city's busy streets. Travelers, merchants, and children clogged the road, but not to the point that Lyras couldn't find his way through. He retained his anti-pickpocket spell, realizing that he still looked like a wealthy target compared to many of these people, who wore simple shirts, trousers, or tunics. Maybe I should find a new outfit...he thought briefly. Despite the fact that the Stellasti robes and cloak were incredibly durable and comfortable, if they marked his as a target for thieves.... He ended that thought. He could defend himself, couldn't he? Lyras looked around. Despite the fact that it was almost midday, he considered finding an inn and getting a few hours of sleep, before heading out at nightfall. Night was often considered a dangerous time to travel amongst the other races, but some Stellasti, Lyras included, actually preferred it. Lyras turned onto another street and continued looking. @InfiniteInsanity @justice_magician @The Halcyon Girl @Tani
