  1. Guys, share your favorite quotes from the Cosmere. I'm looking more for sincere quotes, as opposed to silly Hoid sayings, though those are fine if you like them for a meaningful reason. Also, if you could, share a little about why you like the quote(s), without pushing your comfort zone too much. (Don't feel like I'm asking you to share something really traumatic memory or a disability that you normally don't talk about, those cracks in your spiritweb are for spren to fill with Nahel bonds. I'm excited to hear from you.
  2. Get him a copy of TWoK. He might be too busy to read it quickly, but he'll like it for all the good messages you can find.
  3. They use @Frustration's apparatus, combined with the opening of a perpendicularly to create an effective infinite power source.
  4. None of these are the investiture itself powering anything (well, I guess I don't really know about hemalurgey, but I imagine it's the same way) breath is most prominent I think, as it's used as an example often enough for this situation. I like the concept though. I'd suggest trying to quantify surgebinding, because there is a more visible input/output relation. I know Brandon says he wants to measure how much energy one breath is specifically, but that's hard to do as, other than with returned, breath is never consumed, so it's always "producing" infinite energy(this is because it conduits power from the SR to perform actions). I love the effort, I just disagree with some details of your process, as all you can quantity is a rate, which I don't think is what you're going for. Alright, my last thoughts, the best plan would be to find out how many calories Lift needs to convert to one broam. I feel like this will be the best starting place, as it's a direct conversion between energy and Stormlight.
  5. I believe the intent was to say that 1. Bondsmiths and 2. Fused using the Song of Prayer pull light from the SR
  6. This is beautifully written, and the message is amazing. Good job, Mr. Ghostblood
  7. My company has a folder of memes, and not just about the counselors. Also, NO GANG SIGNS
  8. I meant to whom are you attributing the quote to.
  9. Solid. How are you attributing the quote?
  10. How can one not be a fan of Wit?
  11. Congratulations for her and you! Please, share more.
  12. That's what I thought too, but there was Nothing, not even a RAFO, that I could find in the Arcanum. Next spoiler stream or AMA, someone who has reddit needs to ask Brandon something close to "Did the everstorm remove the ability of herald to hold the fused back?"
  13. The point is that energy is still needed to come from preservations power, thus a connection is needed, just as much as for a mistborn.
  14. I wonder if one would get in trouble if they passed out both while on their mission? Also, that analogy is really good. I think it's accurate, I mean, the reason for passing out both books is the same, to let people experience the joy that comes from them. (Regardless your religious beliefs, you should be able to accept that statement at least).
  15. 1. I have no clue, I don't remember reading that, and I don't own Dawnshards to go back and check. Edit: there is this: So, there is an opponent of Ado, presumably other than those who have become shards, and there is a weapon that was created. (or is it weapons... AKA Dawnshards) 2. I was thinking of Renarin, but I got it mixed up with Taravangian using Nightblood to kill Raise, and correlated the two too much. Still, Future sight can be clouded, I could write up a theory that does explain this being utilized by Hoid and crew for their plans. 3. I've definitely seen somewhere that Dragonsteel is about Hoid and the Shattering. Edit: here it is:
  16. This has been mentioned other places. The reason this happens is because while the Stormlight is held inert in a gemstone, energy from the spiritual realm is drawn to make it glow. A lot of cosmere magics use a key to draw investiture, similar to this.
  17. Perhaps, like Nightblood, the Dawnshards cloud future sight. Now, presumably Ado has better future sight than any of the shards, most likely very close to omniscient. But, if a weapon is powerful to destroy him, why should it not be strong enough to hide things from him? I think this would fulfill everything we know about Ado so far. Also, if Ado wanted to die, then the plot of the Dragonsteel books will probably be very lame, or at least be fruitless when it turns out God let them kill him.
  18. The other one is from the prelude that's included in TWoK Also, shouldn't we refrain from mention SA5 prologue stuff outside spoilers, even though probably most people have already read it?
  19. I'm an Oldblood, I guess I used to be powerful, oh well, time to go get a blue temporary tattoo.
  20. Guys, epiphany time.

So, I know it's been confirmed that Alethi has Hebrew roots, but a check on the arcanum showed that apparently nobody had discovered what I am about to reveal.

Davar is a Hebrew word. It means word or thing, and is apparently useful in understanding the Israelite world-view.

I summon @Trutharchivist to verify and/or correct me. (You would know at least a little, right?)

According to the internet, the fact that "word" and "thing" are the same word illustrates some aspect of the Jewish view of God's nature. It has to do with words having power from what I understand.

Ah, yeah. One word for speech in Hebrew is Dibur, which comes from the root D. B/V. R. (the letter used there can make both sounds). So I guess that yes, this holds some significance. Never thought of that one, actually - thank you for bringing it to my attention.

      That's really cool!

  21. I don't expect to be in people's shardiversaries yet, I'm pretty new still, only semi-active, and I tend to hunker down in only a few areas when I do post. Oops, sorry, I'll keep my mouth shut.
  22. I don't really know you that well(yet), but I appreciate debating with you on all sorts of Cosmere topics, and I find your store of knowledge very impressive. (Are you sure you aren't a copper ferring?)
  23. This WoB disagrees. Mental trauma is not required per day for Radianthood. He was probably excluded because he was quite unwilling to work with others/allow them to help him, so he would not progress with his bond.
