  1. Link's no go. Takes me to a blank page, and trying to find it on the wiki site just leads to some prestige class by the same name.
  2. Eero: In the interest of getting SOMETHING done sometime in the near future, I would appreciate anything you may consider useful for building the sort of Artifacer that you might consider a mad scientist/alchemist with an army of clockwork minions. That is my preferred concept, anyway.
  3. It seemed like a good idea at the time! I was trying to save the admins some work!!
  4. I'm still interested, just having a witch of a time getting PDFs, which by nature is cutting into my ability to decide on and make a character. Though I believe at this point I may be rolling an Artifacer.
  5. Okay, this one's going to be a lot easier than Ivy to work with. I'd only like to see a couple tweaks and it'll be acceptable. First, you've worked with the world and lore I have established. Thank you. A race of 'cursed' creatures spawned out of the cataclysmic events at the end of the Xanethi Empire, only able to draw sustenance from the very force that created them and thus craving the Conflux is perfectly in flavor and a unique reason for wanting to find it as well. This is all good in my book. My only two issues with Zeratul/the Hamartians are the age of the proposed character and their 'immunity' to leyht-based assaults. On the first, allowing something to be 603 years old creates complications with the plot I have in store for you guys, as the character would be privy to information that would fall under a 'Read-And-Find-Out' tag. I can understand the appeal of 'the old ones' archetype, but it's not really something I can permit for reasons, again, I can't really disclose . If it's trying to rationalize that these creatures born of leyht can't reproduce and thus just carry on until destroyed, I'd offer the compromise of a 'reproduction' through fusion of energies, the 'new' Grayling a combination of traits of the two donors, and perhaps with some very weak 'genetic memory'. Secondly, full on immunity to the magic system just isn't something I can hand out, sorry. Being leyht parasites is perfectly acceptable, of course, but any living creature only needs to/can 'eat' so much. I can metabolize beef jerky, and I LOVE me some beef jerky, but if I ate every piece someone threw at me, eventually my stomach would rupture and I'd die. Any given Grayling would only be able to absorb so much of an incoming channeling before they hit their limit and would risk destroying themselves (and causing one heck of an explosion) by trying to absorb more. I can permit some resistance through absorption, but he won't be able to devour everything that comes his way.
  6. Working in reverse order, no, there is no 'hard cap' on characters. You can submit as many as you feel you can handle. I myself will be manning 3+ NPCs just in terms of 'optional party members'. As I said, we can work on Ivy as much as you want until we've reached a state we're both happy with! Ahh, I see. I had never heard the term 'cosmere' used before Brandon's works, so I automatically associated the two, especially when there was a zinc/allomancy reference near to it. As for the POV slip, they happen! And so basically, you are implying that these D'karon have not only mastered time, but can extend their influences beyond their own natural universe. Yikes o.o First step in getting Ivy fixed up for EC Acceptance would be to create an interpretation of the D'karon that would be a naturally occurring race in the RP's universe and lone planet. If I allow ONE interdimensional interloper, suddenly I'll have blue police call boxes and red telephone booths and Sliders popping up all over the place, and that would pretty well wreck the internal balance I've got going on here.
  7. Hoo boy..where do I begin.. First off, thank you for your interest in StEC. I'm really glad to see someone else wanting to join up, I had pretty much figured the first wave of interest was going to be the only one, not that I'm complaining about my player count, mind . So it was really nice to poke by and see a fresh application. That said, I am incredibly saddened to inform you there is no way I can accept this character as it stands. I am however fully willing to work with you to get Ivy into acceptable shape, and will of course outline the issues at hand. First and foremost, I did not design StEC and its world around the concept of being an unofficial Cosmere world. As far as I'm concerned, it's disconnected and off in its own little universe, away from Sanderson's superior work XD. So while we as players might get and appreciate the zinc reference, it means a whole lot of nothing in the scope of Xanthuru, because zinc does nothing special. Along the same lines, Xanthuru is itself a standalone world right now. I'm not crazy enough to try and build a universe around it as it stands, so while I DID make it to be a 'sandbox' for you guys to play in, it is presently a self-contained sandbox. I suppose I only have myself to blame for saying 'pitch me an idea', that was far too vague. The concept of an interstellar traveler, while interesting, just doesn't mesh well with the aforementioned self-contained sandbox concept. Furthermore on that point, if Ivy were an amnesiac when left in Tolvera, there would be no feasible way for him to know what an Ohnyrek was, he would have no grasp of the native language of the continent, and would be completely clueless as to the nature of leyht and how to wield it, since it is exclusive to Xanthuru, being the only planet that presently exists in this universe, heh. Ivy can by all means remain an amnesiac vulpine-humanoid, but we will have to work out a place ON the planet for him to have come from. Secondly, the character is grossly overpowered for the beginning of a game/story. The concept of internalizing leyht usage to create aura-based effects tied to emotions is interesting, that I am fine with, save for the 'black aura', which is a different point entirely. However, the effects as proposed are, as stated, far too strong to be allowed presently. In example, the red aura. Ignoring the fact that Xanthuru HAS no dragons (and due to the earlier issue, Ivy does have to come from somewhere on the planet.), a power boosting aura is acceptable. A power boosting aura that allows the sort of destructive capacity to slay 50 of any given powerful token fantasy race single-handedly is NOT, especially at the very beginning of the story. That would be like pitting Super Saiyan Lvl 4 Gojeta/Superman/Chuck Norris against Mr. Bill/Gumby/a common marshmallow. As stated above, the black aura is a separate issue. It is the only one that is completely unacceptable. Potency of the effect aside, the energy source known as leyht is a positively-aligned, creation-focused force. While it CAN be bent to destructive ends, i.e creating fire to burn someone/thing with, leyht cannot and will not generate purely destructive effects. Making fire is a neutral act. Fire could be used to cook food, cauterize a wound, shed light, warm you from the cold, etc just as easily as it can be hurled at someone to set them ablaze, but it is the purposeful will and intent of the PERSON to harm someone with the flame, not the intent of the energy in creating it. Long story short, leyht itself cannot be used to directly destroy or harm, ergo an aura that causes decay and rot simply would not be possible. On a similar note, Ivy's twin swords are what would be considered Artifact-quality items from the lost Xanethi Empire, and while a character CAN have such an item from the beginning provided an acceptable backstory behind them, artifacts of the level of power described are not only unheard of, but would have every last adventuring-type and political figurehead trying to kill Ivy for them. They not only vastly increase his combat prowess by being storage units for spare leyht (incredibly valuable), but appear to completely remove the majority of his downsides as well, AND allow him to block incoming channeling-based attacks. Further, the ability to mess with time is a rather strong one, and not one I'm willing to approve, as I do not feel it is something that can be rationalized with leyht as it stands. To remain at even half their current state, the swords would have to be classified as 'cursed' artifacts and be applying a significant weakness/downside to Ivy. Ok, I think that's just about everything I wanted to touch on, so the proverbial ball is back in your court. Feel free to look this over and get back to me either here or via PM/contact info with any questions, concerns, and proposals, and we can begin working on getting Ivy into an acceptable, working state . Thanks again for applying, sorry I had to pick things apart so much, but as the 'master' of this RP I have to ensure a relatively level playing field between everyone involved so nobody feels left out, useless, or overshadowed so we can all have a good time!
  8. Vin kinda reminds me of Lydia from the Beetlejuice cartoon....not that that's a bad thing. This is awesome overall
  9. "Ohoohoohoo!" The jovial ape-man chuckled lightly, softly clapping his palms together before pointing to the young lady before him. "Bix be tinkin' dat da first thyme dem words evah be crossin' a Leya's lips! I be likin' you, lil seestah!"
  10. You better make sure the meatshield/healer LOVES you, man XD I could pat that wizard on the back and kill him.
  11. I'm trying to download a massive book Torrent so I can feed them to Kchan (college campus + Torrents = booooo), but as for myself I'm basically considering 3 options at the moment 1: Skillmonkey via Artifacer (love that class) 2: Meattank of some sort, possibly a Warforged (love me some mech, admittedly this will require serious refluffing to let Kchan and I run with our sibling concept XD) 3: Oh God What IS THAT?!?! Monk of Ultimate Destruction™
  12. Welcome...............why do you type like that? o.O iS iT,,,uHH,,sOME sORT oF,,,qUIRK?
  13. I know most aren't going to want to make a whole new account for something, but.. The Tangled Webhas a built in Character Sheet manager. I intend to use it, anyone else is obviously free to, just gotta register!
  14. Maybe I'm confusing Point Buy and Array rules, lol.
  15. Correct me if I'm wrong, it's been a bit since I've done 3.5 AND point buy at that, but doesn't point buy system default you to 5 10s and an 8?
  16. That's when he breaks out the Fighterdokens. I'm in. Just no clue what I'll be running yet. Something random and awesome, though, rest assured.
  17. Well, unless he is suddenly not travelling with the caravan/going to investigate the Phantom, he would cross paths with the party proper regardless. I don't intend to leave him out in the cold, of course.
  18. Doubleposting, but hey, it's my forum, I do what I want!! In the interest of discussion, I wanted to ask: The Tolvera Incident seems to be slow going at the moment, and that appears to be slowing the rest of the rp down. Would anyone be particularly against moving it to a back burner, work-on-as-desired status and moving into a more interesting arc? I'd thought about starting a thread for one of the 'sidequests' such as the Bazaar, but I wanted to make sure everyone was okay with suddenly being thrown into some action/interaction first XD. Lemme know what you gentlemen and ladies think!
  19. I'd definitely have to go Pewterarm. Best for dealing with anything that managed to get too close, and likely the best chance of staving off infection and lasting in a world where a sound night's sleep is asking for trouble.
  20. Woohoo! A Wild Mer appears! Love the choice of username! Welcome aboard! Can't wait until you get around to Way of Kings, I know you'll love all the book art :3
  21. SS was freaking amazing, man. Loved every minute of it. Right now I'm playing Bastion on Steam. Just.....wow @_@
  22. My only beef with 4e was the release module. SO MANY EFFING BOOKS -.- We realize you're a business and need money, Wizards, but for Pete's sake there's no need to try bleeding us like that. 4e fixed what I did dislike about 3/3.5, in that mid to late-game the fighter-type classes were out-shined and next to useless once the Wizard/Sorc got access to Fireball, etc. The Tier system, Powers, and Roles really helped take away from "I swing my sword.." "I'm gonna drop a Quickened Fireball, follow up with a Lightning Bolt, aaaaaand everything's dead!" "I swing my.." "Meteor Swarm!" "-___-"
  23. Sorry for the extended void of posting on my part, at least. Between muse issues, the holidays, and now my net being a PITA, it's been really hard to post e.e
