All types of investiture have a physical manifestation. All physical manifestations of investiture have a solid form. While yes, most Atium is actually an electrum-Atium alloy, it's still mostly Atium with impurities rather than an even-ish blend. Scadrian Atium is an alloy in the same sense that 99.97% purity gold is an alloy. You're *technically* correct that it's an alloy, but it doesn't have significantly different appearance or properties from the pure thing.

That is actually a really interesting idea, to be honest. Like, think of all the crazy impactful things Vasher accomplished in his long life. United kingdoms. Destroyed kingdoms. Started massive wars. Created long-term peace. Was one of the first to ever reach the tenth heightening. Redefined the way high-level awakening was used. Created one of the first sentient objects in the Cosmere. Contributed to the death of a god. Yet, despite all the things he did, and all the things he was powerful enough to have the *option* to do, we have this WoB: So... how do you raise the bar above anything he has achieved/had the *ability* to achieve? Well, by having the Returned purpose of taking up a Shard of course :3.

Yup. Failed and had to retake my fiscal law class exam. The tax code is so *boring* TPBL has spent over 50 continuous hours awake at least once.

More than average. Honestly, I probably tell the truth more than I even should. Do you have any book you have read more than twice? (philosophy books don't count, there it's a requirement)

Why does everyone hate Oathbringer?
CryoZenith replied to Thaidakar the Ghostblood's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Oathbringer is my favorite Stormlight book so far, BUT I am aware that my tastes are atypical in some ways, and if I'm trying to be impartial and, as much as possible, judge the books on literary quality alone, I have Oathbringer third rather than first. So despite my personal impressions, I wasn't at all surprised when I discovered that many people didn't like Oathbringer, and I get where they're coming from. -
"Gotta be honest with you, chief." Cryo told Fadran, shrugging. "I'm neither opposed nor enthusiastic about bad guys getting punched. I'm just here to make sure that, whichever of those two happens, I will be around to see it happen. Although..." he continued on a lower tone, "I have reasons to believe that the future branch where you survive your goals has a higher probability weight of myself living to tell the tale. So... don't count on me, but do count me in."

Rank the Member title Above you
CryoZenith replied to Shard of Reading's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
I was worried at first too, but there's a "beginner" trick that makes it much easier. Basically, rather than trying to fit the lens on the pupil to begin with, you can rest it onto the lower eyelid, close your eyes, and center it with your eye closed. No trick to avoid the price though haha, that's true. 7/10 for your title btw.- 1486 replies

Potentially overly ambitious worldbuilding
CryoZenith replied to CryoZenith's topic in Creator's Corner
Basically, what constitutes magical healing for Ascendants is limited to Blessing of Restoration spells, Blessed Sleep, and Flicker shenaningans. Aside from those things, Ascendants are basically just humans with an extraordinary (but nonmagical) healing factor of x6 (don't think of them as Radiants). A regular human can't think themselves into having a bigger nose, so an Ascendant can't either through normal means, because 0 effect times 6 still equals 0 effect. Oh, you just reminded me of something I didn't clarify in the OP. Ascendants aren't *actually* immune to aging. They do age at a normal rate, but Blessed Sleep heals all the oxidative stress and senescence, so it looks like natural agelessness. They don't *know* this in-world, because for an Ascendant to notice this they would have to spend several years in a row without ever going to sleep for 6+ hours, which nobody does. That's so interesting! Thanks for the perspective. -
Potentially overly ambitious worldbuilding
CryoZenith replied to CryoZenith's topic in Creator's Corner
Depends on the intensity of the dislike. If it's along the lines of "meh, in hindsight I liked it better the old way, but them's the breaks" then nothing happens. If it's along the lines of full blown body dysmorphia, then the nose will be reverted during that Ascendant's next Blessed Sleep. Basically, healing on Dorumar has a strong cognitive component, but that doesn't exactly mean it's very easy to mindgame through mind tricks and rationalizations. There must be a genuine, heartfelt, and strong disconnect between the Ascendant's self-perception and real appearance. Yeah I view it pretty much the way I view Roshar's gravitation. In Stormlight Archive it's simply described as "weaker than normal"; you have to actively go to the Arcanum to actually get the number "0.7 g" in writing. Numbers aren't relevant unless they are (well Dorumar has a strong theme with the number 6 and multiples of 6, as you may have noticed, but it'd be annoying to the reader to constantly bring that up. Over-indulgence is truly an Impediment of writers haha.) I... can't tell if this is sarcasm or not, sorry :'D. -
Multi-episode series rather than movie but... "OH the misery/Everybody wants to be my enemy/Spare the sympathy/Everybody wants to be, my enemy." Ah, such an earworm. TPBM has already failed at least one of their New Year's resolutions.

How Much Investiture is Lost When Compressing Feruchemical Attributes?
CryoZenith replied to Trusk'our's question in Cosmere Q&A
It's probably likely that because of the nature of how they work, copperminds are much more efficient and less lossy than other types of metalminds, and aren't a good barometer for the rest of them. -
"Wonderful, thanks for directions. Name's Cryo, by the way." he said with a slight smirk, acknowledging the door indicated with a brief look but pointedly not moving towards it. "Okay, on a more serious note" Cryo changed his tone, making eye contact with everyone there in turn, then settling back on EmLee, "You are about to do things. The things you are about to do will affect many people. This, I know. Whether those effects are good or bad, whether you'll succeed or fail, and the entire why of the matter are a complete mystery to me, but either way, I don't judge. I learn. So, what's going on?"

On the different forms of Physical Investiture
CryoZenith replied to Zoey's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I think an important aspect which we've been neglecting and probably has a larger impact than we give it credit for is that " And we know that these are not based upon temperature, but things such as density and initial conditions. " My current hypothesis is that the reason why we have seen, as Zoey points out, solid and liquid investiture existing simultaneously in the same place, at the same temperature, in the same conditions, is (mainly) because of how it was initially made there. In other words, when you make solid investiture of a given type, you are imparting it with different initial conditions than liquid investiture of the same type. Therefore, taking solid investiture and melting it will *not produce the same substance* as liquid investiture, because melted investiture has solid-initial-conditions (whatever those may be), whereas liquid investiture has liquid-initial-conditions (whatever those may be). And, subsequently, I am pretty confident that this works in reverse too: that frozen liquid investiture, because of its liquid-initial-conditions, would look different and have different (at least physical, if not magical) properties than normal solid investiture of the same type. -
Nope, just read it in English I'm afraid. My knowledge of both ancient Hebrew as well as old Greek is as expansive as my knowledge of cooking. TPBM has strong feelings about which order of Knights Radiant best represents them.

Cryo stumbled upon EmLee, Fadran and Echo talking as he was walking about. His powers gave him a sort of ad hoc intuition about where he needed to be, where world-changing events were coalescing or about to coalesce, but were annoyingly unhelpful on the details. He did notice the somewhat secretive tone of the conversation, but not much more. Well, this usually works, Cryo pondered, so here goes: "Hey y'all, you know where I can find the nearest bathroom?"

Sanderson "Would you Rather"
CryoZenith replied to KnightRadiant's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Chouta. I'm vegan (in the ethical sense) so I'm really interested in chouta as the representation of "the most tasty version of how you can cook lab-grown meat" in the Cosmere. WYR be incapable of telling lies, but be infinitely trustworthy (in the sense that everyone automatically believes you are honest, not in the sense that everyone automatically believes you are correct), or be incapable of telling the truth, but be infinitely compelling (in the sense that everyone automatically believes you are correct)?- 954 replies

Since you mentioned you like Jim Butcher, I'm curious what your thoughts are on Ebenezar McCoy from Dresden Files? He does a lot of... Kelsier-ish decision making for the greater good, to put it nicely, although he's not lacking empathy in the way Kelsier is, he's just seen enough and been hardened enough to bite bullets when it comes to the greater good. Naturally the Dresden fanbase is a tad polarized when it comes to him, so I'm always curious to find out what people familiar with the series think of him!

Can Dakhor Bones be Made to be Hidden from view?
CryoZenith replied to Trusk'our's question in Cosmere Q&A
Well, I don't know if you can make Dakhor bone twists so subtle that even a doctor giving you a physical would be fooled, but you can definitely make them subtle *enough*. Like, we spent most of the book not noticing Hrathen had an Dakhor enhancement, right? -
Hi y'all. Me bi. Me a disaster. Not sure about me certified tho.

Drowning. I almost drowned once but I lost consciousness pretty quickly, so I'm gonna take a guess that burning to death would feel worse. WYR: 1. only be allowed to read a single fiction book for the rest of your life, but you choose it. 2. only be allowed to read 20 fiction books for the rest of your life, but the person choosing them personally dislikes you. A lot.- 954 replies
