Yeah, now that I've used the new forums for a little while I definitely second the suggestion to make the "Go to the first unread post" icon bigger and/or custom. It's the primary way I navigate the forums, so it should be as easy as possible to click.

Hmm, yeah, a little darker layout (or a full dark theme) wouldn't be bad.

The beacons are lit! Gondor calls for aid!

I was one of the ones who couldn't log in. Changing my login name (from ArgentSun to Argent) fixed it for me.

Next step - we figure out how to make a good WoB database.

I am really really excited about that one. I don't know if I'll have time to play it, but I definitely want to give it a shot.

Markiplier's FNAF playthroughs are what got me into Let's Plays. Since then I've kept an eye on his channel (most recently I love the Subnautica series), but also added a couple more, game-specific ones - MFPallytime's Heroes of the Storm series is something I follow nearly religiously. TGN Squadron's Heroes of the Storm and Overwatch streams, as well as Kripparian's Hearthstone ones are another ones that interest me, but all those depend on whether you like the game or not.

I think we just disagree - fundamentally - about what is more likely. And that's fine.

Three times in a few hours? Once, sure, twice - maybe, but thrice? I think that's as much of a clue as the gradually lightening color.

Man, I keep forgetting I sound like a jerk when transcribed...

I was actually thinking of this:
-
Last I heard he went from 1.5 to 2, and then back to 1.5 (most recently). This, if I recall it correctly, is about as recent as Secret History.
-
It's mentioned once or twice in the Era 1.5 - I think some scientists were searching for it in one of the broadsheets?
-
I actually got a Word document, not a PDF, but that was several years back. But I wouldn't consider this a clue - we know what Dragonsteel is, and it has nothing to do with White Sand.

On Re-Reading WoK and WoR After One Year
Argent replied to Stormfather-in-Law's topic in Stormlight Archive
Contrary to the popular belief most people are not born with a head full of Cosmere factoids. Don't be afraid to share your thoughts, I've seen a theory or two come from people who new to the forums - those of us who have lurked here for years sometimes have a hard time looking at things with fresh eyes This being said, I can answer, or at least comment on, a few of your questions: Many of us believe Jasnah has experienced a traumatic event in the past, something involving men, possibly of the rogue-ish persuasion. If you reread the scene where she Soulcasts her would-be assailants into fire, it sounds like she is addressing an issue that's bigger than a few ruffians planning a robbery. She sounds... vengeful. Neither Gaz nor Elhokar have a (confirmed) spren. Many people believe Elhokar has seen Cryptics, but we have no hard confirmation. Maybe you are thinking of Lopen and the rest of Bridge Four? They too don't have spren of their own, but their status of Radiant squires (Squire Radiants? Squires to a Knight Radiant?) gives them some access to Investiture. We don't know much about what powers they wield, or how exactly they get them, but it's likely that it has something to do with forming (Spiritual) Connections with a Knight Radiant. So why did Shallan attract the attention of a Cryptic so early - not only in the timeline, but in age too? We don't know yet. Have you read Warbreaker? -
New Information On AonDor Intitiation.

Fascinating. I don't know how much more we get out of this right now, because RAFO City is a real place, but it's good knowledge. -
Conceptually it is. It's why I stick with it. But it's something I read almost entirely so I can get some exposure to the type of content on it, I find it difficult to enjoy.

Update time! I finally finished Empire Ascendant, the second book in Kameron Hurley's Worldbreaker Saga. I don't remember much of the first book, but I think my overall reaction was similar to how I felt when I finished Mirror Empire - confusion. Worldbreaker is so different, in so many ways, I find it distracting and difficult to relate to. Much of it has to do with gender and sexuality, and while I no longer find non-heterosexual characters to be novelty in a story, I don't think I am quite ready for people who choose their genders (and often change their decision), people who physically change their gender, and peoples that have more than two genders (and therefore more than two gender pronouns). Maybe I am not thinking flexibly enough, maybe Hurley's writing is a little ahead of its time, or maybe she is just weird. I don't know. Outside of that, however, outside the genders I couldn't get used to, and the sentient man-eating trees, and the world where any kind of touch requires verbal consent - oh, and outside the large numbers of characters, both major and minor dying - Empire Ascendant wasn't a bad read. I just find it difficult to praise it specifically. I needed a break after how complicated I found Empire Ascendant, so I went and read Brandon's Defending Elysium (which I had read a long time ago and remembered almost nothing of) and Firstborn (which I hadn't read at all). I liked both, but I think the former was noticeably stronger. I could live with a sequel. And now, because I am bad at learning lessons, I am reading Fall of Light, the second book in The Kharkanas Trilogy (a.k.a. the Malazan prequels). I am something like 50 pages in, and I can already tell this is going to be exhausting read - I keep forgetting how heavy Erickson's language can be, and how even the village idiot speaks like a philosopher.

Incomplete Shaod and How Elantrians Are Initiated
Argent replied to Blightsong's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I think the similarity here might be in how both are... fixed, static in the Cognitive Realm. Zombie!Elantrians are stuck partway in their transition, and dead spren are stuck, well, being dead. -
You will see spoiler tags (hiding either potential spoilers, or large chunks of text/media). You can create them like so:
Spoilery spoilers spoil things here!
Which would result in

I don't necessarily remember the question - did you get RAFO'd?

[New WoB] Allomantic Bronze & the Listener Rhythms
Argent replied to Aethenoth's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Man, this Argent guy, such good WoBs. All the time. -
How about this: There is some precedent for Bondsmiths being able to affect a large number of people with their abilities. Locking the Voidbringers into their parshmen form, for example. What if Cusicesh was bound, in some way, to all of the Radiants and/or their spren? And so on the day of the Recreance - at 7:46, I would guess - he "died" (along the lines of what KiManiak suggests), and the faces he cycles through are the faces of the Radiants who participated in the Recreance?
