  1. What I am equally interested in is how your gold shadow changes as you increase - or decrease - your Identity.
  2. Interesting. Looks like the Ctrl-A shortcut gets broken by the quotes inside the editor. In a few tests it seems to work fine as long as I am not quoting anyone in the beginning of my reply. As long as I start my reply with regular text and then add the quote, Ctra-A seems to work as expected. In addition to this, I noticed that Ctrl-L no longer creates hyperlinks - which makes me really sad, as I use those all the time. Hopefully there is another shortcut I can find that still works.
  3. They don't even pay me to promote them as hard as I do
  4. But everyone else also gets those
  5. Sorry. I am terribly sorry. I had to. So, on topic, we have to keep in mind that magic on Sel wasn't always like this. Devotion was once whole, so initiation and knowledge dissemination could've worked differently. I doubt she was walking the earth among mortals and teaching them Aon Dor - I don't even know if there was Aon Dor at that time - but I think it's a very safe bet to assume magic worked differently. Then again, maybe not. Investiture is Investiture, regardless of whether it comes from a Shard directly or from its Splinters. I guess what I am saying is that I have no idea
  6. Actually it depends mostly on Investiture - so Mistings would linger more than muggles, and Mistborn - more than Misting. Kelsier is a special case, however, and I won't spoil it for you with details. So, for reasons mostly outlined by @Pagerunner I don't think the theory is entirely correct - but I like it. A lot of the counterevidence comes from Secret History and related WoBs, unfortunately, so I'll leave it at that.
  7. I know. But @Daniyah is pretty new to the forums and already she (?) is offering them. You guys work quickly.
  8. All of The Way of Kings parts now have release dates, and we have nice pictures of both Shallan (part 3) and Szeth (part 4). No high resolution art that I've been able to find. I do like Szeth in particular, I think the artist (Alex Allen) has done a good job at giving him child-like features.
  9. I am disturbed at how quickly the cookie epidemic is spreading these days. Welcome to the Shard, though, hope you have fun and contribute many WoBs to our collective pool of knowledge! To be fair, I only care about the latter part, but they tell me people don't like it when I treat them as objects whose only purpose is to get more WoBs, so now I have to play nice too
  10. Ohio plates are only 6 characters long? Ha, suckers, we get seven in Illinois I really need to find out whether COSMERE is available here...
  11. I just realized that a tiny downside of atheism is that we don't get special days and cool things to say during said special days... =\
  12. I agree that links feel a little harder to notice, but I think I can live with that. One thing I am loving more and more though is the notification I get when someone quotes me. All notifications are nice, but being able to check threads that are likely to require my input (or, alternatively, threads where people flatter me!) is very very nice. Oh, something I forgot. When I am browsing the Unread Content page, the username (e.g. Argent), the action they took (e.g. replied), the OP's username (e.g. Chaos's topic), and the forum (e.g. 17th Shard Discussion) all use the same typeface, which makes them a little difficult to differentiate at a glance. Is this something we can change? See image for reference:
  13. I need this thread to become more dank!
  14. I started listening to the Graphic Audio adaptation of The Alloy of Law a few days ago, and as is the case with rereads, I noticed some things I had forgotten about. Specifically, something interesting Bloody Tan says in the prologue: We've known that Bloody Tan's God - Harmony, presumably - is definitely real, and there is no reason to think he cannot manifest. We know that Death - Ironeyes / Marsh - is also real, and very much visible, and (not only) I have speculated before that he acted as Harmony's agent in contacting Tan and "recruiting" him to participate in the events that would lead to Wax returning to Elendel. But now we also know - or at least strongly suspect - that the Survivor - also walks among the living. For Tan to have seen all three of these monumentally significant figures makes him more important than your average psychopath, I think. Could all three - Sazed, Marsh, and Kelsier - be working together towards a common goal, something that required Wax in Elendel, which in turn required Lessie - Paalm - to either play along and lead him there (which we know she didn't want to do), or be removed from the equation (which is where I believe Tan comes in). I don't know if I have a grand theory in this, but I had forgotten that Tan claims he has seen the Survivor - something I am sure many of us had filed off as the rantings of a madman, but also something we probably need to reconsider.
  15. So, now that we have brand new a snazzy software the forums, I wanted to (re?)visit an old idea I had, but I can't remember whether I shared - adding an optional text to a spoiler block's title so it display what it is a spoiler for. I often see spoiler blocks that don't specify what they are spoiling - and while this doesn't bother me personally, as I have read everything, I could see people accidentally getting spoiled because of this lack of information. Is this now possible?
  16. 'tis our lovely @Botanica (I am pretty sure?) who drew the original four facepalm portraits, I encourage you to politely harass her for more so you can grow your ranks
  17. Interestingly, the Load more activity button at the bottom of the Unread Content page works fine until you run out of content. Once I have all the unread posts displayed, I can still press the Load button once - but instead of loading more content (of which there is none), it just goes away and is replaced by a message that there is no more content to show. This is probably not something we can fix locally, but is a bug with the software suite instead.
  18. So I checked. Here's the relevant passage: I think we can all agree this makes it pretty clear we are dealing with Hoid, yes?
  19. There was 0 doubt in my mind when I was reading it. I don't remember why, but it was one of the most obvious Hoid appearances to me.
  20. Hopefully you have better luck than me.
  21. It's too late. You've missed your chance. Now you will grow old and filled with regrets because you missed your chance to introduce yourself on time. I know, I did the same mistake, and I've been living with this mistake for the last 70 years.
  22. Oh, this is really interesting! I am equally interested in the news that Investiture on Taldain is somewhat easily accessible (paraphrasing, obviously) and that the Shardworld is currently inaccessible in the Cosmere. Especially considering that Khriss has obviously left it. So either there is no inbound travel to Taldain (which sounds difficult to achieve), or the planet was open before (when Khriss left), but no longer is. So much out of such a short sentence...
  23. Actually, it is weird that he uses coin there. Whatever it is that allows Hoid - and other worldhoppers - to have their words automagically translated should've accounted for the fact that Roshar deals in spheres, no coins. It's not that the Alethi don't have a word for the objects they use as currency, so the Babel fish has to transliterate - which is what happened when Hoid was talking about... dogs, was it?
  24. The brightness issue is very much resolved, I think. I would still prefer a dark theme eventually, but this makes everything so much more bearable until then.
  25. I think I've seen theories about the Skybreakers being able to see innocence/guilt, or something to that effect.
