Well, crap. I accidentally opened this topic and saw the quote a couple of replies ago before I realized which topic I was in. I am going to interpret it as "Jasnah (presumably) is missing, but we don't know what happens to her," which then I am going to latch on and decide that she either shows up in the second half of the chapter, or later in the book. But, boy, did I get a mini heart attack...

Eh, hardly a spoiler, to be fair. She would sob openly about any Renarin reveal. For all we know the book ends with the revelation that he has a unique birthmark on his, ahem... rear. Or that he prefers this type of wine over the others. Or that when he was four, he had a toy Shardblade.

As far as I know only the Land of Brandon has a midnight release. Every other bookstore has to wait until Mar 4.

I wonder if it's possible to add a warning, or a popup, or something users see when they post in one of those forums...

And here I am, ready to go to Barnes & Noble and buy the book for other people, just as long as they let me have my own early! I am doing a good deed here, people, spreading the Word of Brandon (seewhatididthere?) to the unenlightened, I deserve to have my copy early.

I... can't actually offer a rebuttal. But now I shall legally change my name to Sander and make it my lifelong goal to mate with as many females as I physically can. Thus ensuring I bring forth the maximum amount of happiness in the world a single person can bring - since being able to call yourself a "Sander's Son" is the highest honor and joy.

I think the problem is with your mind. The image I so clearly posted and you did not imagine only has a trace of trollface instead of Kaladin's brands. For some reason you couldn't perceive that properly and ended up with a trollface overflow. Perhaps you should put more points on your mental attributes?

I wonder if I can show up 10 minutes before Barnes & Noble closes today and buy a copy...

Pandora has a Video Game Music Radio (a version of which, I think, is what Brandon listens to when he writes), which also works if you don't actually own any soundtracks. You may need to up- / down-vote a few of the tracks, because the default selection may be either too dramatic / intense / distracting, or not enough. It's not bad, but you might need to customize it a little before it becomes good.

[JediMindTrick] You all see an embedded image of my awesome Photoshoppery, in which I have masterfully taken the cover image of Words of Radiance, and have then augmented it with a stylized drawing of trollface, vaguely resembling Kaladin's released branded glyphs, superimposed on his forehead. Outside the site's staff and Team Sanderson, I have seen maybe 3-5 people who have claimed knowledge of the entire book. So no more than a dozen, all in all.

Oh, hmm. I guessed wrong. I was going to say A BOX FULL OF JEALOUSY AND ENVY AND HATE AND ANGER AND SADNESS just arrived, but it's only Words of Radiance.

I have a fairly big collection of movie and game soundtracks, they work the best for me. Not intrusive, pleasant, and on a rare occasion - fittingly thematic.

I don't see him as neutral at all though. Neutrals are essentially mercenaries, whose moral threshold varies. If Mr. T is lawful good, then he really wants to save the world, and he has thought about and tried a bunch of different things, and only this arguably evil and chaotic method beings some results; he would prefer and alternative, but just can't find one. If he were lawful evil, on the other hand, then his motivation is mostly personal (e.g. thirst for fame, going down in the history books), but he is not willing to just go and Kharbranth into a slaughterhouse - he actually cares to choose his victims from among those who are about to die, if possible.

Really depends how you define evil. I really can't decide whether he would be Chaotic Good or Lawful Evil in the D&D Alignment System.

Yea, I am willing to let it fly. It's a guess - maybe a good one, but still a guess. For all we know the Tor review (and namely the reaction entry that's like "Oh, you are such a heretic!") could have been brought up because of someone's memories of Jasnah (e.g. Dalinar says something like "Oh, and this one time Jasnah said that women who write works of fiction set in imaginary places are dumb as rocks" and so the reviewer from Tor goes "Heretic!"). Also, I spend far too much time coming up with hypothetical scenarios...

My concern with this is that Shadesmar is not just a thing of Roshar. Desolations, the Everstorm included, don't strike me Cosmere-wide events, they seem to be contained to one (maybe two, maaaybeee three) Shardworld, so having an element as... global as the sun in Shadesmar be their timer feels odd. I could play the devil's advocate too, though, and say that since Shadesmar is an aspect of cognition, it's possible that the sun Shallan and Jasnah see in Shadesmar is not the sun of Shadesmar, it's the cognitive representation of the knowledge of the Last Desolation. It's a cognitive construct, created purely so it can count down to the Everstorm, and it can only be seen from regions of Shadesmar that correspond to areas on Roshar. Or something.

Certain Hints from Sanderson
Argent replied to Glaring at the Survivor's topic in Stormlight Archive
Well, to be fair, Brandon is not entirely happy with this - his foreshadowing is much more obvious and upfront than Robert Jordan's (whose skill in subtlety Brandon reportedly admires). I personally like Brandon's better, probably because it makes me feel better - read smarter - as a reader, being able to spot all those things and all. But then, I am not a bestselling author -
New Content Page: Mark Topic as Read (without Page Reload)
Argent replied to Argent's topic in Tech Support
Not good enough - right now (and this is just one example out of many) I have Amazon is the Devil!!! and Peter!!! in my New Content list - both of which are in the Words of Radiance Discussion subforum. I already read the first few posts in the former thread, so I know I can safely skip it if I am low on time (which, technically, I am right now...). The latter topic, however, is brand new to me and sounds potentially interesting - so I would like to take a look at it. Filtering wouldn't work for me here. -
It's probably Lopen's retelling of one of his cousins words of encouragement stupefied admiration (of Lopen) or something...

It's probably best to take a look at the last few pages here.

A bit of description for those who might not be familiar with this part of the site (like I wasn't for a few months). I am talking about this page - the one you get to by hovering over the menu button the left hand side of the Search box and then hitting View New Content. With the (kind of) recent influx of people to the forums, we've been getting a lot of new topics and replies, and usually I am interested in (or have time for) only a fraction of them. The best way for me to keep up with all this is to: Go through a single page of new content For each topic, either open it in a new tab (if I am interested in it) or mark it as read without even opening it (which I can't do in a single click - I have to open the preview for that topic and then hit Mark as read) Reload the New Content page and repeat the operation until I run out of new content. So, is it possible to move that Mark as read button from within the preview and put it somewhere where I don't have to click to get to?
