  1. I don't think I'll be able to agree with this until I see another set of Orders do the same thing - namely, have an Order that can do something the two next to it combined can't.
  2. I arrived at similar conclusions when I was reading the story, so hopefully there will be a kernel of truth somewhere in it.
  3. There are some discussion threads about this letter in the Words of Radiance forum.
  4. Yea, you should really change the title to something less obvious...
  5. Yep. Moeloch was the "death rattles" Unmade. But yes, I agree that it has to be Nergaoul. Perhaps we should look into other weird behaviors around Roshar and see if we can blame it on another one of the Unmade.
  6. Well, it is now established that Shallan has a wild streak so... BDSM, anyone?
  7. I was under the impression that, at least until The Way of Kings, the cosmere timeline follows the release order of the books. Warbreaker was released before The Way of Kings, so the events of Warbreaker took place before those of TWoK, relevant to the cosmere itself.
  8. That's how I interpreted it as well.
  9. I am not sure this is entirely true. She wanted stormform, but then quickly tried to back out. You could be correct, but it could also be the case that she just didn't back out quickly enough. She also had the spren ready and captured. The parshmen throughout Roshar will need to attract them.
  10. It's very possible that Brandon just treated the question is a more basic, less full version of itself.
  11. That's a lot of stuff, but I'll randomly address your suspicion that Kaladin may have accessed Shadesmar. Pretty sure that's not the case and the description is just how the chasms look to him as he is "flying."
  12. Compatible types of crazy seem normal to each other.
  13. I am not sure they left them in Shinnovar - they just left them. And it either happened to be in Shinnovar, or the Shin moved them there.
  14. That actually makes it easier to put things together.
  15. Yea, highly unlikely. And it's not like Brandon has never heard of Pat.

    Hi!

Honestly - it will be fine for most of it. Theorycrafting will sustain us for some of the time. Then a few months before the announced release date we'll go catatonic again.
  17. I like the original theory - and it is further supported by the fact that the listeners seem far more in line with the native Rosharan flora and fauna (though mostly fauna, really). They can grow carapace - like pretty much every animal out there - and can also change forms by going out in a highstorm, much like the greatshells (and the chulls!) do when they pupate.
  18. Uh, 21 has absolutely no significance on Roshar.
  19. Story of my life
  20. Moash will need to do some character growth before he becomes Radiant material. He is not exactly buying the First Ideal. At all. Adolin is much closer, I think.
  21. The Alethi word for (any) bridge, or do they have a specific word that describes the bridges used on the Shattered Plains specifically?
  22. I don't know, when I think of the most odiumish character right now, it's not Adolin's name that comes to mind, but Szeth's. We'll see how both of them evolve in future books, but Szeth has been pretty hateful lately. As for Adolin's Radiantship, maybe he is just not meant to be one. Dalinar and Renarin are already on the path, so it might be interesting to see how Adolin deals the fact that he is the only Kholin who doesn't have a spren.
  23. Here's a piece from the second Chicago Steelheart signing: If something similar is going on, if those... godspren or megaspren hold large chunks of Honor's (and Cultivation's?) power, then it kind of makes sense for the smaller spren to think of, or at least refer to, them as parents. Especially if the godspren take care of them - the Stormfather, for example, looked like he was trying to keep the honorspren from bonding with humans so he can keep them safe and alive.
  24. Oh, yes, Jasnah. I am not sure if were supposed to be really worried about her though - Shallan certainly didn't dwell on it too much, and Navani did her grieving off-screen. And Shallan had that pseudo-vision where she drew, without thinking, first Yalb and then Jasnah (though the book didn't outright say her name, it was pretty clear it was her). So maybe it was intentional.
  25. I believe it was confirmed that the recipient (of the first letter) is a dragon, and the author is Hoid. It makes much sense that the roles are reversed in the second one - and the recipient, at least, could easily be identified as Hoid.
