  1. That genuinely made me laugh pretty hard.
  2. Freedom (from bondage, oppression, bigotry) being the central theme. I hadn't gone back and considered that before this. I am just now going back through RoW for the 2nd time, and I am reacquainting myself with the content there. I think to be fully accurate, in my heart I would be either both a Windrunner and a Willshaper, or neither. I can't really see myself trying to choose between the two..because that feel the same to me. And unlike a Shard, I can't peel pieces off from my soul. But, that answer also feels a bit whiney when talking about a fantasy world. Still, it is what it is.
  3. From what I understand about Shards, the Shard's Intent eventually takes over completely. Hoid/Wit mentions in one of his letters just how kind Ati (Ruin's Vessel) was when he took up the Shard, and eventually the Shard drove him to the Ruin of all Scadrial. Apparently it takes an extremely unique person to wield a Shard without being consumed by it. Ruin (as it was with Ati as the vessel) would have tried to bring ruin the the entirety of the Cosmere if able. Because that's its Intent. I believe that this mechanic has something to do with why some Fused go mad and others have not, but that's a tangent.
  4. I was split half/half between Windrunners and Willshapers. And there is really not a lot known about Willshapers, so I can't even make an informed choice. As such, I didn't add to the above total.
  5. In Ch 16 of RoW, it's mentioned that little Gav, is just that, little. Too small for his age. And then it's thrown out their casually that the doctor's wonder if "something was done to him" during his time in the palace. Has Brandon addressed this at all? Are there any hints out there that I'm not picking up on? <---This is my primary assumption with most of my Cosmere questions. A secondary question is, If he was experimented on, why? To what end? It's possible (even likely) that the trauma he endured took a toll on his physical development. But if it's not that, is there any reason to believe the Fused could create some sort of time-released plan with a young child they planned on sending to their enemies?
  6. There is a built in contradiction in canon. At least, if both Sazed and Vasher (Zahel) are telling the truth the best that they know it. While Sazed feels that the power seems to want/desire a vessel, Zahel tells Kaladin in chapter 15 of RoW that "Power that came alive on its own..the power wants to be alive...Cut off a piece of Divinity and leave it alone, eventually it comes alive." So the power, wants a vessel, but left without one for long enough..it will just come alive on it's own. Which raises another question. If all the vessels were killed and the Shards left in proximity to each other...would they form into 16 autonomous beings of power, or would they merge back into a single autonomous power? The answer(s) to the fundamental nature of the power, would change a lot in the Cosmere.
  7. I know that a "shardgun" is supposed to be possible at some point, but this idea, as you present it, would make for a real shardbow. Make a shardarrow(s) and fire them from your sprenweapon made into a bow, and then the arrows could return to you after firing?
  8. She would also run the risk of one Shard suppressing another? I don't know if it's physically possible to "trap" a Shard, but if the persona bound to it believes that it can be dominated into "the back of her mind" then I would think it possible. In that case, I'd think Odium would use such an ability to get what it Intends, in a more succinct way? Singular mastery.
  9. Well that is more than enough for me. That's really awesome. Thank you.
  10. Has Brandon, or anyone, every confirmed that Adonalsium was a sapient being before the Shattering? I guess, more specifically, was their an equivalence to a vessel before the Shattering? Or was Ado simply sentient power? Or is that still a mystery?
  11. You know, Brandon has said several times that WoK is one of his favorite (if not the fav? Im not sure) novels he's written, but that it's the one that makes his readers trust him the most while reading. I never really understood what he meant by that because, like a few people have mentioned, I just read through it as fast as I could. I've probably read WoK 8 or 9 times at this point, and still I didn't really get what BS meant. However, reading your theories as you go along (which is probably a much better way to read any Cosmere novel, than what I do) I understand what he means now. I really appreciate you doing this. It is fun, just like you thought it would be, but it is personally helpful to me to see your lines of thought without the foreknowledge of what's coming. It's really cool.
  12. Ok yeah, that's a clear example of "Sanderson being tricky" with his specifically chosen words. So I'm back to square one with that lol.
  13. Yeah, I can see that as being the case. Still, the fact that the ancient Truthwatchers seemed to have future sight, makes it seem like there is a lot more going on here. Because Honor and Cultivation would have known what the Radiants were doing back then, presumably?
  14. The weirdest thing to me about this, is that Honor says to Dalinar in WoK that looking into the future is forbidden, right before talking about looking into the future and how Cultivation is better at it than he is. Maybe he was going crazy by then? But the idea existed before the Vorin church. Maybe it was Honor's instability that caused it? Either way, BS doesn't write obvious contradictions for nothing. There is definitely a reason that it's forbidden, but I feel like I end up spinning in circles every time I think about why this would be.
  15. As someone who deals with depression and PTSD, his actions make a lot of sense to me. Kaladin saw something that his mind didn't want to (or couldn't) accept; that his friends were going to kill each other. Even as that was happening, he sees that Elhokar was about to bond a spren, and his mind latches onto that ray of hope in the middle of extreme trauma, and Moash shows up and steals even that away. This traumatizes Kaladin even more..to the point that he's nearly catatonic. It broke his brain, and the only reason i find it believable that he was able to come out of that as quickly as he did is that he has a bond literally in his soul to Syl..who helps him share that load. To me, Kaladin's locking up makes perfect sense.
  16. I would be overjoyed for Leshwi to be radiant in any way, but as a Bondsmith, that would be fantastic. When my spouse and I talk about Moash, we generally refer to him as This post has been reported for attempting to skirt the rulesing Moash, because well, he's a horrible person. That said, Dalinar was a monster, and he's the leader of the Knights Radiant. Szeth murdered how many people, including Dalinar's brother, and look where he is now. Moash is just as capable of redemption as anyone in the Cosmere. It's strange to me how some people don't want good for certain characters, when one of the strongest themes that Sanderson weaves through the Cosmere is that anyone can find the light again, if they reach for it. That said, I would prefer Moash be a windrunner if he breaks from evil..but whatever. In the mean time, he's a super jerk. Rock can be anything and everything. I love that dude. If Lift is a Bondsmith, or will be, I'd really appreciate it if Cultivation would give a bit more instruction or something. I LOVE Lift. I really do want to see much more of her. She clearly is something special for a multiplicity of reasons..I'm impatient though. lol.
  17. I am still early in RoW, and I did not remember, at all, that it's spelled out more explicitly by Renarin later in the book. That makes a lot more sense. I was going off of incorrect memories of what's happening there. I like it better as it is described though. Them being in conflict with each other in this specific way is exciting to me. Thanks for the clarification.
  18. it’s not a matter of raw power. It’s a matter of capacity. What Renarin has the capacity to do atm vs what Odium has the capacity to do atm. Yeah, I see what you’re saying that Renarin is essentially using the equivalent of a Renarin’s visions can be wrong, but he still sees them, he’s not blinded to them. Odium’s foresight is blocked out around Renarin. Not just stalemated, but neutralized. There is a reason that Renarin is blocking out a Shard’s ability. It might not be for the reason I said, but there is a reason(s).
  19. I am curious how it would work to be an Edgedancer and a Bondsmith? But, I realize that I can't say "This can't happen" because most of what is happening with the radiants now, is breaking "the rules" with Tanavast being dead in the first place. So sure, maybe Lift with do all that and more? I certainly love every second of her on screen.
  20. So..what if Adolin restores Maya fully but can't bond her like a regular radiant, but is close with Cultivation because of his bonding Maya the opposite way it's supposed to go..and then bonds the Nightwatcher? So there will be three Kholin bondsmiths?
  21. This thread brings up something I have long wondered about. Why did Honor say to Dalinar in the visions, that foreseeing the future was forbidden, even though the point of the visions was a warning to someone thousands of years into the future? It's a blatant contradiction, and BS doesn't do those, except on purpose to wave a big flag and say, "Look at this right here that clearly doesn't make sense! WHY DOESN'T IT MAKE SENSE READERS?" As has already been mentioned in this thread, Honor said the Cultivation is better at seeing the future than he is, and it's also well known that all of the shards can see the future (some better, and some worse). It seems to me that the OP is right and that Truthwatchers could see the future, either through connection to Honor or Cultivation, but most likely both as it would reflect their unity as does their investiture of Towerlight. I think that Renarin represents something totally new, even beyond what Navani and Raboniel achieve in their blending of investitures. I believe that Renarin's Order of Truthwatchers draw their power from Honor, Cultivation, and Odium in unity...and that is why Odium is becoming increasingly blinded to those around Renarin, and soon to be Rlain. Because the unification of all three powers surpasses anything Odium can ever have the ability to do as a single shard.
  22. That's a really good point about Preservation's Mists, and I hadn't considered that at all. Harmony's also don't enter buildings, except in rare instances as well. I really do wonder why that is?
  23. In chapter 122 of Oathbringer, Taravangian is sitting in his rooms in Urithiru, and hears Odium's voice say, "The window. Open the window. Open it" It's only after he opens it that Odium enters. Now, this could be something to do with a weakened Urithiru itself? But why does he need the window open? Is he like Dracula and needs to be invited in, even into a residence? Earlier in the book, Venli says that she was instructed to leave her window open for the Everstorm. Intent is critical for Fused to enter into Singers and take their bodies. The same with void spren, one must willingly accept them. But why something so simple as entering a house?
  24. I wouldn't be 100% sure on that. Considering that in RoW
