  1. I get that, and I'm not disagreeing with you exactly. But we've had flashbacks for all of those people but none from Moash. In fact, we've almost exclusively heard from Moash's point of view *after* he gave over to Odium. I imagine if we got as many flashbacks for Moash as we've had for, say, Dalinar...and he did start to move away from Odium toward integrity and rightness..it would be quite the journey. That's what I mean when I say the only difference is where we are in his story, because there is a lot to his story that could be filled in and hasn't been. If we start hearing about Moash growing up..his experiences..the mantras that he's drilled into himself and shaping his Identity..filling in the gaps before and after Bridge 4...well...I assume that would change a *lot* about how people view Moash. For good or for ill, IDK? At this point, probably not for good. That's all I'm saying.
  2. It's been busy week at work, and I'm just getting back to catch up, but yes. That is the WoB I was thinking of. Thank you for posting it. I am not good at finding the specific ones a lot of the time.
  3. This wounds me deeply, but everyone is allowed to like or dislike characters as they will. I love Lift so much..but it's possible she'll grow on you (haha pun) as you read OB, DS, and RoW. It's ok if you only ever think of her as ok. Wyndle is, well, Wyndle. I expect he has some growing to do himself (did it again, booya).
  4. I skimmed through the last 5 pages, so if someone else has said before now, I agree with them. My thought is that the 5th Windrunner Ideal will be: "I will show all how to protect themselves and others" If Skybreakers become the law, then I would think that Windrunners would, by example, show others how to protect, body, soul, and mind. Of themselves and those around them. To work towards healing and peace, not strife and war. The main reason Kaladin struggled with his latest oath was
  5. I am thinking it is, in fact, supernatural due to Connection, as previously suggested, as in RoW...Lift is able to
  6. She is metabolizing parts of her food into Lifelight directly, instead of sugars. She still would be metabolizing the lipids, proteins, nucleic acids, and some more complex carbohydrates. This is why high sugar foods give her Lifelight more quickly. But, it can be inferred that if she doesn't consume the Lifelight, that it functions much as sugar would for a time, as it burns away after a while.
  7. Sorry to do double hidden text but Also, to actually answer the OP. I think Moash is a monster, who is so self-centered that he thinks that his pain is the only pain that counts. So much so, that he was willing to break his best friend's heart and mind before he gave himself over to Odium, because he wanted to get *his* revenge regardless of who else it hurt. He was willing to inflict that pain he received, on his best friend, because his feelings were most important to him. And he's done far worse since. That said. The only difference between Moash and Dalinar, Venli, Jasnah, Szeth, etc, is where we are in his story. He could choose redemption. The most important step someone can take is the next one. But thus far, the only steps Moash has taken, are towards selfishness, at all costs. That could change at any point. But, right now, it doesn't seem likely. I would LOVE for him to pull his head out of his butt and stop being such a whining, monstrous loser. It would bring closure for Kaladin, Bridge 4, and the Honorspren. That would be wonderful. I doubt it will happen, but it would be wonderful, and I would be 100% here for it.
  8. We do? I'm not doubting you, I'm doubting my own memory. I assume I'll come across this in my RoW re-read?
  9. I am honestly confused by how definitively some folks are about how Moash is beyond redemption. Several main characters have done some nasty, monstrous things and are now "heros" of Roshar. Moash is damaged, and ROdium took advantage of (and probably orchestrated much of that damage and pain) Moash's suffering and told him, I can make you not feel those horrors anymore. I can make you feel better. And, so instead of facing the consequences of his selfish actions, he let Odium numb him. Kaladin has given into his depression multiple times. Dalinar has literally murdered thousands (if not tens of thousands) with his own hand. Jasnah will literally have anyone assassinated if she feels its the best move, and the list goes on. If there is one truth on Roshar, it's that literally anyone can be redeemed if they choose to take the steps towards redemption. I despise Moash at the moment. I think he's a selfish coward. He will probably get even worse. If he gets better though..I would welcome it. His betrayal causes SO much pain to SO many characters that I love. If there is a chance to make that better for them, why would I be angry about it? That doesn't make any sense to me. All that said, I don't currently see a way back for Moash. He is the Walter White of Roshar. At every crossroads of decision, where he could choose to make things better or make things worse..he has choosen "make things worse" every single time, and he has made that choice while blaming everyone and everything around him.
  10. I am not sure how to categorize my favorite Cosmere book. If it's by number of reads, Wok. If it's by most personally traumatic, SoS (W&W2). If it's by the biggest highs and lows (most shouts of joy and excitement, as well as most ugly crying) then RoW. So take the average of those I guess. Do I like writing in colors in general? Is this a reference to Nalthis? The Stick is the Stick. Forever immovable. An RP? Like online? Not at the moment. I've had some unfortunate experiences, and I'm not sure if/when I'll be up to joining in RP anywhere going forward. I am not an artist, unless folks want to see some killer stick figures. I didn't know what an AMA was before today. All of the back and forth after this about cookies and subforums, I don't actually follow or understand?
  11. I am going back through RoW at the moment, I am pretty sure that the Stump is a truthwatcher? Am I wrong on that? But what she can do, other than ReGrowth, either isn't mentioned or I'll spot it this go round?
  12. I mean, I’d defend myself, but that’s fair
  13. Hi folks, I had meant to post something here a while ago, and as the title explains, I forgot. I have been actively posting for a month or so. I've been stopping in to read from time to time for while now. I am fairly confident, that if I have a Cosmere question that can't be answered (or at the very least given some strong leads on) here, then it's something only Sanderson can/will answer in time. I really appreciate that help and encouragement I've already received here. Folks are pleasant, kind, and very knowledgeable. Which is extra good, because this year I gave up trying to keep all things Cosmere in my head. It just rattles out. But coming here, where stuff is all written down and searchable..is excellent I am quite excited to be here.
  14. Something that definitely needs explanation. The guards did say that they hadn't eaten more than a few times in weeks (which they thought was much less time), but some of them were well enough to fight in the battle. Huh..I had forgotten about that. That's real weird.
  15. This feels like a miracle Thank you @alder24
  16. Ok, I need a tutorial on how to quote only what I want..I assume there is a topic on that out in general somewhere? It didn’t seem like @Amira had read much outside of SA. And I didn’t want to answer anything that would spoil a bunch of other stuff. SA really is the hub of the Cosmere at this point and SO much stuff connects to other books. I think I’ll let y’all answer most of those questions until I get the hang of this interface down a little better.
  17. What Cosmere novels have you read outside I’m of Stormlight Archive?
  18. That is a good point, but hasn't Sazed
  19. To both @Treamayne and @SpeakoftheDeval, you both make good points. It's just that TOdium is so much more sinister to me than ROdium ever was. And I don't even know why, other than I have been despising Taravangian for years now, and I don't plan on stopping now that he's a god. TOdium could just attempt to not cause more war and death, but he won't. He'll take some definition of salvation (through the lens of a Shard, and that of Odium no less) and do something twisted and even worse than the years of torture and murder he's already done. Per usual though, I just want to know what he'll do right now, because I'm impatient.
  20. Syl says in her interlude (I-1) in RoW, that a Bondsmith is who bound other surges and brought the humans to Roshar. So, Odium had a bondsmith? That concept seems so, wrong, from everything I have read so far. I feel like Dalinar becoming a God of War would be amazing for a lot of reasons, but I'm tripping up on the idea of Odium having a Bondsmith. It's probably just my brain rebelling against something I hadn't consciously thought about before seeing this post (directly after realizing it was a Bondsmith from Ashyn, that brought the humans to Roshar).
  21. So, I just hit ch 19 of RoW where Taravangian says, "“Everything I’ve done was in the name of protecting humankind. Every step I’ve taken, every ploy I’ve devised, every pain I’ve suffered. It was all done to protect our future." So, is the Intent of Odium so strong, that the picosecond Taravangian takes it up, he decides all of that is moot, and he will press the war, as is? Not just the deal, which was the OP's question (which I understand the deal was made with Odium the power, not Rayse the person, so that makes sense) but Taravangian's singular purpose for the last 7+ years has been to save as much of humanity as possible...is that all out the window now?
  22. That's fair. I have always assumed that agents of R-Odium had access to Kholinar before its fail because of the Unmade being active there. I actually hadn't realized I had this assumption before now. It was just in my head.
  23. This is both helpful, and at the same time not Thank you for that link though, I hadn't read a full description of the Willshapers before. Only what I'd initially seen in the Coppermind.
  24. Ok, having read your and @Leuthie's comments one after the other, my brain sort of combined them. What if you're both correct? What if 15 (or 14, as Autonomy also seems to want nothing to do with the other Shards) of the Shards naturally want unification, and the very nature and Intent of what Odium became in the moment of the shattering, drives it in a direction counter to the others. I mean, even if a very small part of Adonalsium (no matter how small) was angered as the Shattering...any part of infinity is still infinity. Same would go for Autonomy as well, I would think.
  25. This makes a lot of sense to me. And, whether or not it's true for the Cosmere, it is logical and, at the very least, probable.
