  1. It's been a minute since I posted a photo inside a spoiler tag (with I have definitely done before) and now I've blanked completely on how to do it, and am failing at searching for the solution. Please help. Thank you so much.
  2. This is yet another great example of me reading something and thinking, "I really wonder how he did that? O well, I'll keep reading and definitely remember to think about it later (even though I always forget)" I still have no idea how one would achieve such a thing through soulcasting..anyway don't mind me..carry on.
  3. Hoid is a grandmaster of lightweaving..even before his bond to Design. In your insect scenario, with Rosharan lightweaving..Hoid would simply create whatever attractants needed to clear a path to leave, and he would most likely leave the door open for the bugs on his way out.
  4. Both champion's have to be be willing. I don't see any situation where a young child would be a willing champion. Todium is more than enough of a (can't think of a word that accurately describes him that doesn't violate forum rules) to be ok with trying to manipulate a small child into a death match, but for neither Rayse nor Taravangian does that feel like something they would do. It's small and boring. Rayse was in love with his own regality, and Taravangian is in love with his own capacity. Whatever shenanigans Taravangian has planned, you can bet your bottom dollar it will be something that screams, "I AM THE SMARTEST BEING IN EXISTANCE" which is untrue, but definitely the heart of who Taravandian is. He referred back to the doctor's words about his capacity over and over and over throughout the last 6 years, (and almost certainly throughout his life). I would be extremely disappointed to see someone so obsessed with how smart they are, resort to the strictest technicality of an agreement instead of doing something that's actually brilliant.
  5. I would like to point out that the disaster of turning on the father machine wasn't a genocide, it was a tortuous, parasitic hostage situation. The population was trapped in the Shroud. Their Identity was intact, in that the machine could churn them back out at will. Even with their memories deleted daily, some part of them knew something was deeply wrong..for 1700 years on a planet with 11 day weeks. If they happened to have 52 weeks in a year, they were in that situation for 2,664.1 earth years. That, to me, is a lot darker than genocide. Thousands of people made sort of immortal, being daily tortured by a machine for basically no reason...that certainly surpasses my definition of dark. Another thing that made me sad, is that if every person in the Shroud had been able to meet someone like painter, then they could have all been brought 1700 years into their future to finish their lives that were halted. I mean, going to Cosmere heaven is fine and all (since I have no idea what that entails but it seems peaceful and whatnot) and maybe after 266 earth centuries of that horror, I might want to go to the Beyond as well. I really enjoyed the book. I really connected with it, but @Oltux72 is certainly correct that this book is dark. I think a lot of authors write really dark, horrific stories/histories/etc as the main and/or supportive story element. The difference between Brandon and most other authors is that he is able to write 4-10 full novels a year, so there is so much more content. I don't think it's odd, more formulaic than odd.
  6. Ok wow. I am surprised there are any games out there that still have these problems. That's crazy. Generally speaking, we would always look for a private server, or one that limits troll behavior, but thank you for pointing that out. That would be a seriously infuriating problem to run into blind. I'll check it out, thank you:)
  7. I realize I wasn't as clear as I should have been. PC, as we don't have the same consoles, and we're looking for separate PCs that can play together either through a built-in coop or something with functional mods. We've considered the Skyrim together mod, but from what I've read it's not super functional. It pretty much defeats the purpose if the game crashes 2 or more times a session. I've never heard of It Takes Two, I'll definitely look into that..same with ARK. I've played through skyrim at least a half a dozen times, but always solo. If there is a funtional coop mod, that would be very fun.
  8. My friend and I enjoy playing games together. We've played through all the Borderlands titles, Terraria, and most recently Elden Ring (through a fantastic coop mod). Are there any recent games that come to mind that are well suited for coop play? I've tried googling and it seems like the same 10 or so games are suggested in every list. Are there really no good coop games out there from the last few years, or are the 10-20 that pop up on google searches all there is?
  9. In addition to what already has been mentioned, I would like to point out that much of the culture of the regular Singers, is now a very human one, through Connection. A lot of Singers don't even want a war at this point. They just want to live their lives..maybe with humans as slaves or servants, and maybe not. Odium could have a worldwide rebellion on his hands if he pushes the masses to hard. I would say that having your main fighting force not be motivated for war would be the largest difference between this desolation and ever other previous one.
  10. This…I realized after I posted that it wasn’t clear, but figured you’d clarify..so thank you for that:)
  11. Well that just brings up another question...what do we know about Navani that isn't shared tangentially in Dalinar's flashbacks or her recalling back to the decade or so before Gavilar's death? Details I mean..where did she grow up. Who are her parents? Siblings? What motivations did she have as a young girl, adolescent, young woman and how are those different/more developed now? If/when we get more detailed info on her, I am certainly going to keep an eye out to see if she fits into more orders. Mostly, because I am infatuated with the idea that the 3 bondsmiths could be members of all 10 orders..since unity is their core.
  12. Sooooo question...does Navani fit this well into multiple orders? Is this a Bondsmith thing or is Dalinar singular?
  13. This is the first time I've read/heard of this theory/series of facts, and this line screamed out at me. Yes, obviously Lightweavers can change their appearance including hair color..but what if Shallan's hair changes between persona's isn't due to her lightweaving, but is because she has the inborn ability to change it, in the same way the royal family of Idris' hair changes? Attention is drawn to her hair changing color a lot. And now that I think about it..doesn't her hair bleed to different colors around Adolin and Kaladin without her puffing out stormlight to change it?
  14. Yes, that was what I was referring to. And there is a world of detail in how the surges were used, (both on Roshar and Ashyn) before any limitations were put on them, that I assume we'll have to wait for the back 5 to get around to..but I'm impatient and want to know now. Also, any time there are purposefully glaring holes in the history/narrative, it's clearly on purpose and mildly annoying (see aforementioned impatience).
  15. Yeah...I agree that is 100% true of Dalinar's character.
  16. This thread has definitely helped me feel better about this. Thanks all!
  17. Soooo..is Vasher way above the mark for the 10th heightening? Is there anything above 10th? I don't know if there is anything about it in the AU, but the Ars Arcanum at the end of Warbreaker says pretty clearly that very few people have ever reached the 10thH, and that not much is known about it. Anyone know if there's anything out there on that?
  18. Ok, I am overjoyed that he answered that, because he wrote it confusing on purpose. That's exciting news.
  19. I too often think of the SP as a hot place, but I agree with @alder24 that it is usually colder than it is hot, being so close to the frost lands. The heating fabrials being mentioned so often (or roaring fires) tend to make me think it is often colder than warm. The bridge crews were cold a lot I guess? Now I'd like to ask BS if armor is common or not in the Alethi armies outside of officers.
  20. I am now thinking it would make a lot of sense that Cultivation just maneuvered Vasher into separating form Nightblood? She's got crazy OP futuresight, and Nightblood was absolutely a lynchpin to her plans. I am now curious as to exactly how much autonomy Vasher had in the whole process? I feel like he'd be 50/50 split between wanting to get rid of Nightblood forever and feeling responsible as their barer (which is a stagnant, uncultivated state to be in), and once he was split from them...is happy to keep it that way?
  21. Ok cool. I wasn't sure on that, thanks. That would imply that Cultivation had (at the very least) knowledge of Nightblood's coming to Roshar. I am now wondering what Nightblood looks like to Shards, because I imagine they are not a "quiet" being when it comes to Shardic observation? Also, I assume we'll eventually be told how they passed from Vasher to whoever to Nale to Szeth. I definitely look forward to that.
