  1. I haven't really read all the posts but even if you made a perpetual machine it would be useless as it would not be able to produce more energy then what was put in because of conservation of energy. I am not completely knowledge about the Cosmere's physics so conservation of energy might not exist so please tell me. Side A would need enough energy to push side B down so if you were trying to connect A to something else it would be unable to overcome the mass of that object without additional energy. Also, what would be powering the fabrial clocks on gem A? I am not in any way knowledge about this so if I'm wrong correct me.
  2. You actually are on to something similar called voidbinding. There is alsmost no information on it but there are some good theories out there. @Frustration has a really good one here: Voidbinding Solved Hope this helps and welcome!
  3. So I had this theory just pop into my head as I was reading and it basically is this: Will Syl eventually choose to be enlightened by Sja-anat to better understand emotion? So far all the spren of Roshar have been of Honor and Cultivation and recently, some, touched by Odium. Odium is described as passion and emotion so it makes sense that his power would help sapient spren to better understand emotion, especially in humans. Syl has expressed a desire to better understand Kaladin and his emotions, even going to Dalinar for help. Would not then, she go to Sja-anat to become more than just of Honor and Cultivation? Maybe even Odium? We know that Odium is not going anywhere now and that he is now a part of Roshar so would it be wrong to assume that spren will start being influenced by his power? What are your guys thoughts on this? Am I completely wrong?
  4. Callsign: Cypher but I really like Cavalier
  5. The comparison I’m making is between the best from Star Wars and the best from the Cosmere (as we know it). I pointed out earlier that yes, it is unfair because the Force is a soft magic system so it’s up to the author for what they can do at a given time. Also, Luke has done many extremely powerful things multiple times, I just gave the example of the Black Hole as it was on my mind but there are many other incredible feats which are not outside the norm for Luke. Some Sith were capable of devouring all the life forms on entire planets (though this is only one specific Sith). Yes I completely agree that when you take averages, Radiants win hands down cause the average Force user is very weak but the average Radiant has access to abilities that don’t take any skill to learn and make them nigh unkillible (I’m looking at selfhealing).
  6. Shattering: a bunch of people kill God, eat him, become Gods, kill each other and spread their bodies all over planets
  7. Okay, so I don’t know if this has been explained elsewhere or what but I’ve been wondering why in the Scadrial system the Shard’s impact can be seen in the Godmetals and the Mist but on Roshar it is in the form of Light, Tones, and Rhythms. What do you think is the reason behind this is? Also, would there be a Godmetal, Light/tone/rhythm, and maybe even type of breath (as breaths are little pieces of Endowment itself so are a reflection of its power (I think? Please correct me)) for each and every Shard? (And maybe the combination of all is Adonalisium’s Light? (in Roshar’s case)) So far I’ve assumed that that is just the natural form that Investiture takes in a given system but if that’s the case (it’s just natural) then why that form and not some other? Sorry if this seems a bit cluttered and messy or just plain stupid
  8. Yes surgebinding is the most powerful. As noted by @cometaryorbit and @Frustration it has the potential to do a lot. The reason I think it is so powerful is because of how you access it-self improvement. This self improvement increased the power you have access to. The bounding done by Honor is one of morality, once he was gone the surges were open to anyone that could entice a spren (which isn’t that difficult as they are pretty naive). This has now made it easy for anyone good or bad to access them as it’s not the standards of some objective truth but rather your subjective sense as shown by the splitting of the skybreakers (singers support vs human support).
  9. The only problem is that they would need to get in close to do that and the Force can easily be used to keep them away. Also most of the examples of the most powerful Force users seems to be Darth Vader but in reality it’s actually Luke. This is important because It has been shown that Luke can control and create LITERAL BLACK HOLES. No amount of healing can prevent death from that, and they couldn’t escape if they could. It’s true that Radiants would do much better in close combat and I think that if it turned to fighting with their weapons then the Radients would win. The Force is the Jedi/Sith’s strength. And yes, it is hard to position a black hole but that example is just to show an aspect of the Force’s power. The only way a radiant could win would be if their opponent didn’t figure out a way to deal with their extreme healing. Also, a Force user could just wait for them to drain their stormlight but only if they figured it out. All this only applying to the best against the best-the average radiant would destroy the average Force user. Also, is this limited to just the Jedi and Sith or can it be any Force user?
  10. I’m going to have to say that for the best of the best against each other it will have to be Jedi/Sith that come out at top simply because of the force. If this included legend Star Wars then there is absolutely no contest at all, the force can utterly destroy everything. But if it’s only canon then it’s much closer but the raw power afforded by the force to someone like Darth Vader is enough to take out even the best. Assuming that the force can effect shardplate like normal matter (I.e. being able to move it and such) then Vader can literally rip it apart and tear the person to shreds physically. This is a bit unfair considering that the force is a soft system and surgebinding is a hard magic system which allows for Star Wars to take it to the extremes (as seen in legends where people can literally create and control black holes, consume all the life on a planet, become immortal in a variety of ways, defeat armies of naturally force resistant aliens, to name but a few). Since though there is no rules against the legends aspect of Star Wars lore I’m going to have to say that it is absolutely a Jedi/Sith win.

  12. I also had no idea that he was a member when I started because I got into him from WoT and found out later.
  13. I am also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (so surprising) and I've found that, for me personally, I am unable to comprehend how different my life would be and the changes it would have on the way I view the world and how everything would fit together. Religion is a very integral part of my and as such I find myself always applying it to my life and views. It helps me get through every hard time and become better because I have a reason for becoming better. I would be a completely different and worse person than I am now without my faith keeping me on the straight and narrow.
  14. Just a random question but how many people do you think only really read Sanderson's books because they're a member? And do you think there are more members that are fans than non-members?
  15. Rune is derived from my reading habits and my fascination with old languages.
  16. Yeah, I don’t believe that many people will go to hell (other than the most evil of evil and Satan and his angels) and that most will get to live in some form of heaven with differing degrees dependent on their lives and that it will be perfectly fair with chances for everyone to reach the highest degree.

  20. Nice kudos to you NHIE broke a bone
  21. Yes! I was able to go about three weeks ago and it was great! We got to see all of the DC places and had a great time just before the protest.
  22. Yes, sorry that was my mistake, I forgot that the Old Magic is of Cultivation and only on Roshar but I was thinking of it more as the magic of the Yolens when Adonalsium was whole.
  23. Yeah that's what got me thinking of this in the first place but I'm pretty sure they are something different.
