Don’t do stupid things.
You might die.
It would be sad if you died.
So don’t do stupid things.
-
So… Looks like I disappeared again!
For like five weeks.
Um.
Whoops.
Well, life happens, I guess!
Some things that happened while I was away:
- I had a really bad day consisting of things like being out of butter for my toast, being late to school, a fake fire alarm, having to miss 95% of my 6th period class because a girl decided it was a good idea to vape in the locker room, and hectic after-school activities.
- WE GOT AN OCULUS!
- I went to see a play put on by the high school my brother goes to and it was awesome. (It was based on the CLUE board game/movie, I think?)
- I read the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini and I thought it was amazing, though some of my cousins thought that series was a snooze-fest. I honestly don’t see why, but I guess my opinion backs my theory that I don’t often see the flaws in things unless they’re blatantly obvious or someone else points them out. (Why be negative when you can be positive, after all?) (Also side note about the Inheritance Cycle: I highly suggest reading it if you haven’t already. The world-building is near Sanderson level in depth and there are DRAGONS.)
- One day in church, I realized that Kaladin and the Joseph story in Genesis in the Bible have frighteningly similar stories. Just think about it for a minute.
- I co-wrote a story with an AI. Well, I started one, that is. I think that I might post it on here when I finish with the first draft or so.
- Wicked (the musical) came to my city and my family went and HOLY COW WAS IT GOOD EVERYONE NEEDS TO SEE IT IF YOU HAVE THE CHANCE AND THE SONGS HAVE BEEN STUCK IN MY HEAD 24/7 AND IT’S JUST SO GOOD! My favorite song from it is probably Popular because it’s so fun to sing
- I was diagnosed with Brandofandonitis and ordered the highest dosage of Quadrovela because of how severe my condition is.
- For spirit week at my school, there was a ‘fandom’ day and I dressed as a Mistborn and was constantly saying “We Mistborn need not make sense. It is beneath us.” My friend dressed as Spensa (to the best of her abilities) and I even brought my Doomslug plushie for her to carry around.
- While watching General Conference, I colored some coloring pages with dragons on them and ate Girl Scout cookies. It was very enjoyable.
- I re-read Cytonic and we finally bought the Reckoners series for me to re-read. We found a hardcover box set on Amazon for really cheap, which was awesome.
- It’s spring break! Yay! I finally got my room clean and today we went to a trampoline park. It was super fun.
- The Skyward Flight collection came!!! Signed and numbered: #1864!
Now if you’ll excuse me while I go through my 180 notifications.

Welcome back! I want a fandom day at our school now!!! That sounds like a very enjoyable break from the Shard!
-
I forgot to mention that for the last day before spring break, we had a game day in my ELA/History class and I brought Call to Adventure: the Stormlight Archive and I played with my teacher and two of my classmates. (I won, probably because I’ve actually played it before.) It was very fun

That sounds so cool! I've always wanted to play that game
-
Tonight I had a Young Women youth activity that was a sort of get-to-know-you game night. Everyone brought an object they felt represented them and then we played games.
As the dedicated Sanderson fan I am, I brought Skyward.
And Starsight.
And Cytonic.
And my Doomslug plushie.
And my M-bot pin.
And all my Cytonic stickers. *[Related tangent in spoiler box below]*
And a Cytonic bookmark.
And a "Merry Christmas from Detritus" drawing I made as a Secret Santa gift for Ookla the Theoretical.
I think I got the point across that I like books.
After everyone shared their items, I played a game called "Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza" with two other girls and two leaders. 'Twas fun.
*Tangent:
SpoilerA few weeks ago, my mom saw a car in the pick-up line in my sister's elementary school with a "Life before Death" bumper sticker. She told us when she got home and we told her she had to say something to the owner of the vehicle next time she saw it.
Fast forward to the next week or so, and she said she exchanged phone numbers with the owner of the vehicle- I'll reference her as "Eva".
Eva has four kids, with the youngest two being two-year-old twins. The reason I brought this up is because of the twins' names: Kaladin and Elend.
[Insert excited mental screaming here]
Anyway, she went to the Cytonic release convention thing (because she just happened to be in the area visiting family) and got some stickers and a bookmark, which she didn't really need and decided to give to us!
I haven't actually met her, but I really want to so I can meet the twins. Because I need to make sure they become book nerds so they can properly appreciate their name's origins.
:)

That's so cool!

That's amazing! Last time we had a get to know you young women activity, I brought my full size copy of Oathbringer.
I find it sounds combination of funny and awe-inspiring when people name their kids after book characters
-
taco cat goat cheese pizza is fun
and painful

Yesterday I had to run to school because my dad accidentally took two sets of keys so my mom couldn't drive me to school.
It usually takes 15 minutes to walk, but I managed to run there in 9.
I was miraculously on time.
Also, I used to be terrified or car washes when I was little and now I think they're fun.

Happy Twosday, everyone!
I've practically been celebrating Twosday since the day I joined because my username has two 2s in it because two is my favorite number :D

Just finished reading through 5.2 pages of notifications after a ~2 week break from the shard.
-
I had a really busy week when I first dropped off the face of the planet. It went as such:
- Monday: The only actually open day that week. Nothing exciting happened.
- Tuesday: Orthodontics examination, which I already gave the outcome in a previous SU.
- Wednesday: Math Is Cool tournament! It was virtual so we could run around the halls at full speed during the breaks. (10/10, would do again)
- Thursday: Ballet
- Friday: Church game night. My non-member friend came and we had probably too much fun.
- Saturday: Stake get-to-know-you dance/game thing. I reconnected with a girl I met at girls camp and I saw one of my classmates there.
- After that, I just didn't get on here because I knew it would take an hour to read through all my notifications, and I didn't have an hour because of the glorious think known as HOMEWORK.
- Last Friday, I was the front-desk person for my dad's work for two hours after school because the front-desk person had a family emergency.
- Instead of getting paid, I got Minecraft so I could play with my brother because they've been playing pretty much non-stop once they found out how to play on our Microsoft Surface tablets.
- On Saturday, I went to a middle school play/musical my friend was in. It was called "We Will Rock You" because all the songs were from the band QUEEN and yeah. It was pretty good as middle school plays go because it had really good lighting and projections and the lead characters were really talented singers.
- Yesterday we went to our family-friend's house and watched The Maze Runner. It was a good movie- I recommend.
- I think I may actually be a Hallandren, considering neither of my parents actually saw me be born and I dress like this:
- Also I decorated the hat I wore for that picture myself
- It's conference week for school so I only have one full day of school this week. (Monday: No school. Tuesday: Normal school. Wednesday: Early release. Thursday: Late start AND early release. Friday: Early release) Hopefully I'll be able to be active here a lot this week!

in that picture you're SO PRETTY!
And your hat is beautiful and I love it
And I agree - twirly pocket skirts are the best.
-
ooooh blue

I LOVE that hat! Making it yourself is impressive! Cute skirt too.

I had a really busy week when I first dropped off the face of the planet. It went as such:

I had an orthodontic examination today and I need braces.
I don't want braces.
(Hopefully I can get Invisalign instead.)

Introducing @Spensathecat, my cousin!
She is starting Skyward but has read no other Sanderson, but she plans too.
-
Today was the start of the new semester for my school so everyone switched electives- mine changed from Home Ec to Art. I’m excited.
Also, I got put in a PE class for this semester with a different teacher than the one I got last semester, which is sad because my previous teacher taught ELA last year and was one of the teachers who read Skyward, so we often talked about Skyward stuff whenever it came up (like when I got my M-bot pin and stuff like that). At least my new teacher is nice and is a bit more lenient on grading. =)

I was just thinking that If anyone else here has a Wii U and Minecraft Wii U edition we could play together.
That’d be fun.

Agreed
But, it's better than nothing, I guess?
-
I want a Wii U for Wind Waker and Twilight Princess HD, but they're so darn expensive nowadays.
-
have wiiu, with mc on it.

My sister currently has a friend over and they're playing Roblox while also Facetiming another one of my sister's friends (Also playing Roblox)- BUT- the friend on Facetime doesn't know that there is a friend also over IRL and the IRL friend is speaking for/as my sister and confusing the Facetime friend. So one of their conversations went a little something like this:
Facetime friend: [Asks something about Roblox]
Sister: (Whispers a reply to IRL friend)
IRL friend: (Whispers something back, and to cover the period of silence, says:) Oh, uh, [EmLee] was just talking! Uh-
Me, who was in the room at the time: I wasn't talking...
IRL friend and Sister: (glares at me)
Me: (Smoothly lying to not ruin the prank:) I was making funny faces!
IRL friend: It counts. [goes back to talking about Roblox]
Facetime friend: Y'know, I can't help but feel like your voice is different...

Wow. I totally disappeared for like a week, didn't I?
Whelp.
Anyway, some things:
1. I got my costume for Ballet! My class is being Egyptian gods/goddesses and the costume is gold and sparkly. Like, really really sparkly. (Not sure if it's a good or bad thing. It doesn't seem that sparkly in the picture, but you should've seen ballet studio when we tried them on- the floor was covered in glitter )
2. I made biscuits in Home Ec and they are soooooo good. This is the recipe~
SpoilerIngredients
2 cups flour
1 Tablespoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup shortening
¾ cup milk
Utensils and tools
½ teaspoon, 1 Tablespoon, 1 cup (dry measuring cup), ½ cup dry measuring cup,
liquid measuring cup, baking pan or cookie sheet, mixing bowl, pastry blender,
fork, rolling pin, biscuit or cookie cutter
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F
2. In a large mixing bowl, mix flour, baking powder and salt.
3. Add shortening using pastry blender or fork
4. Keep using the pastry blender or fork until the shortening is all mixed in and it
looks like cake mix consistency
5. Pour half of the milk in and stir. Add the rest of the milk and make sure
there is no flour left in the bowl. It should be doughy.
6. Sprinkle flour on the countertop (you don’t need that much)
7. Take dough and put in on countertop and roll out with rolling pin (flour the
rolling pin)
8. You want the dough pretty thick-about ½ inch
9. Cut with biscuit or cookie cutter.
10. Place on UNGREASED cookie sheet or baking dish right next to each other.
11. Press together unused dough and repeat rolling and cutting until all dough
is used.
12. Bake about 10 minutes or until the bottoms are lightly golden.
13. Enjoy! There's also a video my teacher made on Youtube on these. [link] (Oh yeah- did I mention my teacher is a Youtuber? She makes how-to videos on Youtube because she found that most kids these days learn best from watching videos. It's pretty cool.)
3. Turns out playing volleyball with a giant beach ball is exhausting!
4. All the songs that have been stuck in my head for the past week (save it one song) have been from the new Disney movie, Encanto. And I can't really say I'm frustrated about it.
-
Wow. I can’t believe it’s already been a year.
Instead of mentioning everyone who has been a friend to me, I’m just going to mention a few select people:
@Enter a username, you’re my brother and introduced me to the shard, so thank you.
@Channelknight Fadran, One of the main reasons I wanted to join the Shard was because I wanted to join FotT, which you created. I can’t wait to see where it goes from here!
@Ookla the Theoretical, I don’t know why, but I feel like we’d be best friends if we’d met in real life.
@Robin Hatter, you’re a really cool person- keep it up!
I’d @ more people, but I’m getting tired, so:
To everyone else: You’re all amazing and nice people and you all deserve the best. Thank you all for making it a great year by just existing and being you
To celebrate a year here, I’ve decided to share some art I’ve done~Hope you like it!
SpoilerI’ll start off with some drawings I’ve done awhile ago:
SpoilerThen here are some I’ve done more recently:
SpoilerThen some sticky-note drawings!

Happy Shardiversary, EmLee!!!!!!

Happy Shardiversary!!!
-
It did NOT go dead I refuse that it went dead
-
Two things:
1: Yesterday I got 4 cavity fillings with no numbing shot. (It didn’t hurt, thankfully)
2: My dad tested positive for COVID today so I have to stay home from school tomorrow and I hate missing school and I’ll likely have to miss more because I might have it because we live in the same house but I’m hoping that if I retain the mental state of denial I can get the Placebo effect to kick in to keep the symptoms at bay for as long as possible and I think I might be getting a little stressed out…
But other than that, life’s good!

I got COVID about a week and a half ago. Sadly, I'm back in school tomorrow. I'm already getting tortured by waking up at a reasonable hour, and I'm not looking forward to another hour before that.
-
I just went to my school to get tested and I don't have any symptoms, so I'm hoping I can go back tomorrow. But I still have to do all my classwork for today at home if I want to stay caught up, so that's fun.
-
Personally, I only did about 2-3 hours of school per day while I was home, so I still have a bunch to catch up on.
-
I feel overwhelmed with homework. bleurgh.

Not if you have the following ingredients:
my history teacher
Bad Take Machine
Tangent Machine
but history hw sucks
-
No, MY history teacher. I will fight to the death to defend this claim.
Lemme know if you want help with the history homework! I took AP World History last year and am taking AP US this year, so I should know some stuff.
-
I am working on Math and History right now as well. Several math assignments and a BIG history project.
-
I just had a random idea for an RP: An RP where you could reuse characters from dead/currently inactive RPs, because why not? It would be very unorganized, like FotT, but I think it would be fun. What do you people think?
Also.
I think you'd appreciate what came in the mail awhile ago.
=)

Also for some reason it’s really weird seeing that book with corners, for rounded edges from multiple rereads and backpack trips.
-
you read it yet?
-
I actually read it before we bought it and because I have like seventeen billion other books I need to read I haven't reread it yet.
But when I did read it it was awesome.
-
My birthday cake was based after the one from Harry Potter.
If you try to fail, you will likely succeed, so I chose to make a purposefully sloppy cake.
Also my cousin recommended these songs to me~
