  1. Keep going. You might just be one of the people that like this book.
  2. I mentioned this in a sign-up thread, but I think it warrants a post and a meme here. Me on the bus ride playing mafia with the wrestling team: As everyone would probably suspect from me, I had a roughly 50% village winrate, though with excellent mafia detection skills (nka is so much easier IRL). But a bit more in character, on the last round, I (and a coach, and a couple of other people that didn't do much) got maf. We then proceeded to get a clean sweep. So yeah, there was some good SE representation in the IRL mafia space.
  3. Don't you just love those types of games. Actually, I recently did something similar in IRL mafia. Probably put a brief description of that in SEAcropolis.
  4. I'd definitely agree on Red Rising, though if some things (no idea what exactly) make you uncomfortable, it might not be best book for you. I'm still waiting for Will of the Many to arrive, but I've enjoyed the author's other series (to this day, one of the best endings, and one of the more interesting worldbuilding concepts I've seen). I finished the Burning White (I remembered it this time!), really good ending. Just the right note of sadness behind the happiness. @Treamayne, I have opinions! I'll send you a PM about it, but suffice it to say that I disagree, at least a little. I also finished Maze Runner. It was some ending. I think I'm going to continue reading, but I didn't like it all that much. The worldbuilding so far is kinda meh, but I think the second book can bring some more. Not hopeful on a third though. I'm going to start To Sleep in a Sea of Stars. I'm looking forward to it, I heard some good things when it came out, and it will be fun to see all the improvements Paolini's made in the what, two decades since Eragon. Maybe eventually I'll grab Murtaugh too. I started listening to Night Angel 2. It had such an ending that I'm not sure if it can pull it off, but I have faith in Brent Weeks.
  5. I built a magic system with this goal (to make perpetual motion as easy as possible). It was actually pretty fun to mess around with it and think it through.
  6. If Exp doesn't want to go, I can take the LG slot provided sign-ups open after Valentines. Which would probably mean the QF would go first. @TheRavenHasLanded, if you're willing, I could really use a co-GM if I do end up running it.
  7. *You Know You're A Sanderfamily
  8. Recently read Rage of Dragons by Evan Winters. Man do I love that book, it's so excellent, emotional, gripping, and relatable. I really recommend it if you've done the sport of wrestling, there's a strong message about what it takes to be the best. One of my favorite books ever. I also finished Under Heaven. It was a very interesting book, though I felt the ending suffered a little from the (film) LotR problem, though that may have been caused by the circumstancesthat I read the ending in. I'm a little disappointed at how little it scratched the surface of a really intriguing world, but the writing was excellent as expected. I kind of felt it every time the main character said "it was to honor my father." I've had people congratulate and look up to me for things that I just kind of had to do, so it was quite relatable on that front. On the same trip that I finished Under Heaven, I also finished rereading the first Hunger Games book. Pretty good book, I enjoy it every time. I noticed on this read how closely the movie followed the book, particularly in the interview section. Like, it was perfectly word for word for description lifted from the page. I'm currently listening to Maze Runner. It's a bit odd, returning to Dystopian after a pretty long time without reading any, but it's a good book. It's a clever writing tactic to use the character's amusement at the slang to gradually get the reader used to it. I'm only about 12 chapters in, but I've had enough details spoiled over the years that I'm really looking forward to what comes next. I switched from the audiobook to a physical book on The Burning White, looking forward to finally finishing it. I also also started Old Man and the Sea, which is looking to be an interesting read (I only read the forward so far).
  9. I've been looking a lot into Guy Gavriel Kay recently, and Tigana might be a good fit with those ones you've mentioned. Really amazing book and an excellent starting point to Kay from what I've seen and heard.
  10. I finished aBoS&S a few days ago. It's a excellent book but wow is Snow despicable. On my first read I felt all the sympathy that everyone seems to and a sort of "how does this boy turn out so awful," but on this read through I saw all the red flags. Still don't completely understand the ending, but what can you do. I'm reading Kings of the Wyld. It's delightful and a good example how to do proper try/fail cycles. Lots of "Yes, But" type things here. Still listening to the Burning White (goodness why is it so hard to remember its name). I kinda forgot just how much happens in this book alone. I'm a little bit sad at the low quantity of Gavin chapters, but Kip's fun and it isn't too bad with Teia and Karris. I'm not having any problems with the new VAs anymore, so that's good. I'm also starting Under Heaven by Guy Gavriel Kay. It's interesting so far, but I'm only just starting it. I was super impressed by Tigana, so I'm hopeful.
  11. Hello, I accidentally changed my name incorrectly when changing for Ookla season and now have to wait the ninety days before changing back. I saw a post a while back where someone got this fixed by a mod, I was wondering if I could get changed back to The Bald Brandon?
  12. Thank you, this was by far my best non-mech-heavy v!game. Edit: Just checked the spreadsheet and dangit I knew it was Araris. He put in a . In his first post, but never did it again so I didn't feel confident and ugh I could have tied for a meaningless prize.
  13. My plan? Edit: Why do I feel like you thought I was being far more confident then I actually was? I am extremely proud of myself for finding Ash off of that VA, then later figuring out Neil.
  14. Dear lord. GG, Neil et al. Thanks @Mat for excellent GMing and fun writeups, and @Elandera for what seems to have been a more difficult than normal game to IM. Maladroitly competent. I stand by it. Oh, and my theory holds true. TKN after an e!game is far more sussed than TKN after a v!game. Good job Kas, I figured you'd bluffed, but didn't know if you had it in you.
  15. I didn't assume you didn't, just was giving that game specifically. I think that I fall into the meta demonstrated by the Shard game and KKC far more than how I played in QF64 (that's inactive team QF I believe). Maybe you disagree on that but that's how it feels. Except my position has been morphing this entire time. That initial analysis posited Neil only in a v!JNV world, which I reconsidered. I came into that cycle sussing Aeoryi, then realized the vote state just didn't back that up (I was right). Illwei was technically initially an alternative to Ash that I discarded because of her entrance. I would have been content to read her V on that if her vote on me hadn't triggered so many alarm bells. I realize that I might not have accomplished, but do I actually throw extra shade on one of my teammates while voting the other? I don't bus, like, ever, because people like you can just tell. I don't think e!me would defend Ash/JNV either, but I certainly wouldn't be shading and voting them. That's not how I roll. Yeah, I do have another option. Apathy. I could have stayed on, or I could have switched, why would I switch to bus, something that I expressly hate doing. Shard game and KKC, mechanics bring out the best in me. I don't even think I've put as much effort in this game as those, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find e!me putting in this much analyzing effort. I don't like how swayed I am, I want to vote Neil again. Ugh. I think there's reasons to both sides, like I really hate that vote from Illwei, it feels so wrong. Oh fine I'm just going to do it. Neil.
  16. Illwei came in surprisingly non-committal despite almost exclusively sussing Neil. She didn't vote him out of the gate (instead saying "I will probably vote Neil" which she never actually did). Instead she hung around, not really placing any suspicion on me, then you make two or three post with a section saying that you're reconsidering on me and start casing me slightly, then BOOM, Illwei votes, not for who she's been sussing for a bit now that you've been pretty hesitant to vote, she votes for me, the one who she's actually ascribed a slight v!read to, but that you just so happen to be considering. Doesn't that ring a little bit off to you? Referencing a later comment I think you make, I still kind of am the low hanging fruit for Illwei, though not as much as normal. By voting me, she gains the potential support of both you and Neil, whereas if she had voting Neil, I would have been the only one on her side, and a pretty non-committal person to have there. It pretty much came down to process of elimination. My raw notes based on pure vote analysis with light credences posited JNV, Illwei/Ash, Araris/Aeoryi. I had selected Araris/Aeoryi because I felt there needed to be a more active player on the team, but I've since reconsidered to realize that Mat might have thought JNV and Ash together had medium enough levels of activity that the experience would level them out. That was also a large part of my reasoning for Neil later, though, like I said many times, he fit both E and N profiles well enough. I mostly thought he was an SK, but figured he fit the elim profile well enough. After how this cycle has progressed, I've been mostly convinced by Neil's utter lack of WiM (pretty sure that's a correct use of that), and by your first hedgy then opportunitistic voting. @Kasimir, personally, I'm struggling to see why you've switched onto sussing me. Do you really think I, the one who stunned the village by not bussing or saving my teammate, bussed JNV that late into the game while also implicating my only other teammate who very well could have gotten by if I had done the right work to hide them? Do you think e!me puts anywhere near as much effort into this as I have? You can look at my past e!games, I struggle to fake analysis when E, particularly past c3, hence why it's used as a tell. Do you think JNV and Ash are determining the kills when my kill meta hasn't been prevalent at all in my last three to four e!games? Do you think you live this long in an e!me world? I let other players determine some or even most shots, but your analysis doesn't survive if I can at all help it. You love to revise, so revise. Look at my e!games, reread the Shard game. E!me is lazily confident, v!me is maladroitly accurate. Think about which one I've been this game. Edit: I'm blue texting this now for goodness sake: Today was extremely busy, with some of my schedule being shuffled around in the worst way. I've been operating on far to little sleep and access to my phone was limited. I'll be sleeping until a few hours until rollover probably, but I'll try to respond to any @s when I wake up. Edit 2: In reference to my comment on JNV’s meta, I've kinda blocked out that game a bit. I wasn't happy with how I played and kinda remember it as a fever dream, so I couldn't say all too much either way, but I did and do remember JNV mentioning that in our doc that game.
  17. Curious how you didn't answer the question. @Kasimir, if you don't want to engage, that's fine, but I recall you asking about how I felt about the votes on me in a previous round with regards to my rule. Didn't feel they were problematic then, but this one is ringing all the alarm bells. Illwei (Neil)
  18. Sorry for my relative inactivity this cycle, I've had a very, very busy day today. And that makes me far more inclined to vote Illwei. Feels like she saw Kas doubting on me and decided to go for something easier to convince Kas of. I'll humor you for a bit though. What's your reasoning?
  19. Hmm. Neil for now. I'm not convinced Illwei comes in at the speed she came in as an elim.
  20. I've been expecting it for a while since Aman died (and before). And there it is. So I think Coffeecat/Silber is certainly the best bet. Sorry not sorry. Unfortunately, I don't think there's any way to rule out Coffee being the SK, and if they flip blue then it doesn't help us finding the remaining elim, but it's certainly worth exing the clear evil. We either win or we're in the same nearly winning situation we are right now.
  21. I think the Raven kill is very more likely to come from Neil than really anyone else. Really, I think an e!Neil sk!Aeoryi is also possible with this insistence on going after Illwei (and me, but going after me is more understandable) since Aeoryi could also definitely make the decision to kill Raven. Really just voted Araris because he fits the same requirements as Neil, but Neil already had quite a few votes in. I see your arguments against e!Araris, and I'm actually tempted to believe them. I need to check the vc, but I think I'm content to vote away from the main train even with these arguments. It's not like we can get hammered here. I'm planning on re-evaluating sometime tonight or tomorrow morning.
