  1. I think that you can use any Hemalurgic spike to open a being to being controlled, including Kandra; Bleeder didn't need a specially made spike to open her to Harmony's direct action as they didn't want to grant her more sapience, they just wanted to crack open her Spiritweb. As for Tensoon with Ore'Seur's Blessing, I think that he could do that is because Tensoon already had his Blessing in place, so he was stable enough to handle another Blessing (this is along the lines of what they say in BoM). I think that it's very possible that Paalm knew how to create Blessings, as she was more familiar with the workings of Hemalurgy than any other Kandra alive.
  2. They turn into mist when they do that. I think that if you tried skepping your Shardblad on Nightblood the mist would be instantly consumed, killing the Spren, since the Spren no longer is maintaining the solid form that protects it (if you need evidence of it being metal mattering, just compare what happened to Rayse vs Ishar's Honorblade, even though I'm fairly certain a Vessel of Adonalsium holds more total Investiture than a Shardblade). So, bad idea probably. I think that you have a point on the living Spren; they'd likely be terrified of Nightblood after one hit, which would seriously compromise their Radiant's ability to counter it.
  3. Ah, okay, just wanted to make sure I think it's reasonable to assume that you can take multiple things from one person, since you aren't taking their entire Spiritweb with each spiking, just a specific part. If the person survives each spiking, you could spike out the other parts.
  4. Hmm. "Blood Magic" perhaps? Or maybe "Secondhand Magic"? I'm personally partial to the second one, as I've recently become more interested in the idea of a story about someone who lives in a world of magic, but has none of his (or her) own. They use their intelligence and teamwork to use others magic to achieve their goals, however, possibly using words and tricks to get magical beings to do their will and they prove to be a powerful force to be reckoned with.
  5. Uh, I just realized how powerful an A-pewter F-steel Twinborn would be. It's actually pretty crazy what the two powers do when mixed. Honestly, it may be even better than double steel. Personally, I can think of at least three different synergies that would exist between the two powers. I'll try to contain myself and resist the urge to post them until (if) I get your consent though, @Koloss17. I don't want to take over your job here
  6. Hmmm. Yeah, it would prove somewhat problematic if you needed someone's help to build the bomb you wanted to kill them with. I would argue that the Scadriens have Kandra, and could therefore have extremely effective spies that could sneakily take what they needed, but Roshar has Lightweavers and the ability to seek into the Cognitive Realm, which would make hiding from their detection a lot harder as a Kandra, I would imagine.
  7. Ah, yeah, that would make sense. True. Best options for fighting Bondsmith are; (1) Nightblood, (2) F-steel after Compounding for a year, (3) tactical nuke Honestly, Scadrial would do far better in a duel of planets with Roshar than some people think. If they develop weapons like this, they'd be set up very well for the space era.
  8. Hmmm. Any Twinborn with F-steel could enhance their Allomantic power by burning their metals faster. Actually, that would be very interesting to see with Allomantic bronze, copper, pewter, steel/iron, and Bendalloy/cadmium especially. It could be like a more controlled duralumin burst.
  9. I'd say you're on the right track. We don't know a whole lot about corrupted Investiture at this point, but it would have to be different that harmonizing two Tones, as we've seen that doing such creates a new Intent (and color) all together.
  10. Ah yes, agency of your warheads is such a pesky thing, no? Wouldn't the Anti-Investiture destroy them too though? Even if the Spren are from a different Shardic Intent than the Investiture than you're seeking to destroy, there very well could be complications. Overall though, I think the missile system could work, though it may be so expensive to assemble with all the different sorts of Invested equipment that it would be more cost effective to seek a different solution to scraping the Rosharans off your boot. Remember kids, if you can't solve a problem with your neighbors, nuke em'
  11. Sweet, two Twinborn in one day! Also, I heard someone else come up with the name "Immortal" at some point on the forums. I think that would work well. Don't know either. It's kind of a weird combo, though the powers are both pretty good. Disarmer sounds good (though Windwiper is pretty funny ).
  12. Oooooh, Cool! A Steel Inquisitor tumbling upside-down in midair whilst trying to Hemalurgically spike a Mistborn would be awesome!
  13. It can definitely be difficult sometimes. Half the time I want to use a quote, I spend fifteen minutes searching the Arcanum and don't find it. I give up, then try to settle for deductive reasoning without concrete proof.
  14. That deduction could make sense. What if it wasn't a Sliver, but a Hemalurgist who found a way to Compound F-chromium, then Compounded a literal ton of it, then tapped it in the space of about ten seconds with the Intent of spiking out a Mistwraith's or Kandra's ability to alter form. Would that still count as shenanigans ?
  15. Ah, the effort we must go through to know whether sticking a metal pin into someone will turn them into a monster or whether it will turn them into a bigger monster
  16. Already am a member of his church, as it happens . So I guess I've already inadvertently done step one. (The congregations where people meet in are called "Wards", by the way )
  17. This made me laugh when I saw it "warning, workplace hazards may include; tripping, dusty environment, strain from lifting heavy objects, and spontaneously transforming into a minitour by stepping on that one nail joe accidentally stepped on last Tuesday." Truely, Scadrial has its workplace safety as its top priority. @Scars of Hathsin, have you read TLM? If so, read the spoiler box.
  18. So, you think that the blockage would be possible. What about the whole turn into a Kandra-kin part?
  19. Ah, but this WoB from 2016 says that Hemalurgy changes the spirit, hence the reason if a Koloss died it would stay the same rather than change back to human form. So if you spiked a Koloss the Spiritweb taken would be changed as well, most likely. Wow. Has this been talked about before? This kind of seems like a big tidbit. Now we have some idea of how Hoid changes his age? Brandon Sanderson I haven't said if this is a method Hoid uses or not, but it's part of the reason the Lord Ruler turned to dust when he lost his metalminds. (His body tried to match the age his spirit said he was.) Phantine If they somehow killed the Lord Ruler in a conventional manner, would he still have turned to dust? Brandon Sanderson Yes. The metalminds would have stopped being tapped, and the spirit of the matter would probably still have had this strange effect. Not it didn't happen to the bodies of the shard vessels who died. Phantine Would koloss spikes turn off when they die too, so dead ones shrivel up like raisins? Brandon Sanderson Hemalurgy changes the spirit. So not necessarily. That indeed would be one of the fears of trying to use those spikes. Actually, if anyone who uses a MAG wants an idea for a challenge, say that the above scenario above happens, and it while it causes the Koloss tribe to grow in numbers they also become more aggressive, causing them to attack nearby settlements. The players have to stop the growing tribe from destroying the neighboring town. It could prove interesting I have a lot (seriously, a LOT) of questions that I'd like to ask Brando Sando, but unfortunately, I have no idea how one would realistically go about doing it
  20. I was thinking the same thing ; basically, a really skilled Hemalurgist may be able to take Identity-Blanked powers from others, allowing them to stack with one another. This would be much more practical than trying out a bunch of Medallion or Trueself Hemalurgy tricks. As for why it hasn't been done yet, science is always easier in retrospect (or if you can ask an all-knowing author ). It would be way harder in world to figure things out than it is for us, since we have a lot information, and that information isn't as fallible as the people in world have. Skill or an intuitive knowledge could also be a major factor. After all, the Inquisitors after TLR died had access to Compounding, but couldn't use it because they hadn't figured it out- they needed practice. And they had a Shard directing them most of the time. Yeah, I don't think that you'd turn into an actual Kandra using this idea, but something that may have similar abilities. And yes, you'd probably get the downsides too, though I think how much downside depends on how much like a Kandra the new creature becomes. As for Kandra Blessings, I think they'd work for the new creature if made the way Kandra's are made, since the new creature has to deal with the same mechanism for physical/cognitive blockage as the Kandra. The real question in my opinion is if the new creature can use those Blessings without turning into something else entirely; would the new shape shifting be significant enough to prevent warping from other attribute spikes?
  21. I had an idea recently in another post to Hemalurgically spike a Mistwraith, but then wondered if spiking a Kandra would lead to a different end result, which lead to this idea. When you Hemalurgically spike a human's strength from them using H-iron, you can use those spikes to twist another human into a Koloss. But what if you try to take a Koloss's strength via Hemalurgy? This would, I think, on whether all the power of the Koloss's added strength is in the spikes, or if it's a combination of their growing muscles and an enhancement of their spikes. My personal idea currently for how Koloss spikes work is that they provide a magical boost on top of "twisting" the recipient, causing them to grow huge muscles. The power in the spikes probably couldn't be spiked out (since it isn't actually part of the donor's Spiritweb), but the new, twisted Spiritweb might. So let's have a scenario play out; a Koloss tribe needs more members to help compete with their neighboring tribes. Unfortunately, they don't have enough spikes to make more Koloss, but they do have a human who knows how to make more spikes and wants to become a Koloss. The human helper convinces the Koloss elders to let him spike out the elder's strength and use those spikes to turn himself into a new Koloss. The question is, does anything wonky go on with the new Koloss? Does he get more of a strength boost than other Koloss, since the strength stolen was from much stronger creatures than human? Does the warping effect on his Spiritweb get worse, since it isn't stolen pieces of human Spiritwebs, but stolen pieces of Koloss Spiritwebs that have already been warped? Would even weirder things happen if the process continued to be practiced, eventually creating some crazy mutant Koloss from other Koloss that had also been made from Koloss?
  22. I suppose that would be where some weirdness would come in. If you're more human than Kandra with a single Mistrwraith spike, I'd hazard to guess that you'd retain most in not all your sapience since your spike would provide at least some ability to pierce the blockage between the physical and the cognitive. If you're more Kandra than human, I'd guess you could give yourself a Kandra Blessing to overcome the mental blockage, though you'd likely end up with the same weakness as other Kandra- having your Spiritweb abnormally susceptible to being controlled by others- more so even, since you may end up needing three spikes rather than two. There could be some ways to mitigate that weakness that have been discussed elsewhere that might work though. Hmm, okay so maybe a Mistwraith wouldn't survive the spiking. Don't know how I assumed they would be able to regrow their shape shifting without their shape shifting . That does bring some problems into the whole deal, what with them actually being people and whatnot. Actually, now I'm wondering, would it be even better if you spiked a Kandra than a Mistwraith? A Kandra donor (who was actually willing) you could give a F-gold providing spike, let them store some health, then spike them and get their ability to change shape. They then repair their Spiritweb after, leaving them okay. Also, I'm wondering if a Kandra donor would be better for the cognitive abilities that you're seeking, since they are already closer to what you want to become than a Mistwraith. I don't know if their spikes actually change them physiologically, if just a little, or if it's all just a magical piercing between the blockage effecting their mind, but if it is an actual change made by altering their Spiritweb, that should be able to be taken by Hemalurgy.
  23. Don't know, to be honest. It doesn't seem like Sazed to simply remove them; after all, he decided to keep the Koloss and Kandra around because they were unique. So Mistwraiths are probably out there on Scadrial somewhere.
  24. True. It would be interesting to see if that is a viable strategy for an aspiring Hemalurgist. You might get less total Investiture from each person you spike, but the charges could stack, plus, you wouldn't need access to Medallion tech or a (willing) Trueself Ferring to spike.
