  1. Even with Vin and Elend it seemed as if it extended and enhanced the use of the metals they were already burning. No on Roshar there are 3 generic power sources that seem to be able to power any invested ability. On Scadrial there are 16 different power sources that can be used singlely or in combination by 3 different systems. there are also 4 shards operating, 3 of which power hemalurgy. With a Hemalurgic coinshot do you try for a Trell tone, Ruin Tone, Preservation Tone, or Harmony Tone? A Coin shot is steel allomancy powered by Preservation or Harmony, but hemalurgy is powered by Trell, Ruin, and Harmony. Do you need a resonant tone between Trell or Ruin and Harmony or Preservation to counter both the hemalurgy and allomancy? It seems to me that you need a resonant tone between: a Tone for the steel, a tone for the allomancy, and a tone for the shard to generate an anti-tone vs a hemalurgic coin shot. A bloodmaker would likely need a different resonant tone, and a twin born another unique tone based on metal and shard.
  2. Jansen nodded, grinning and said, "perhaps our first meeting should be tonight". "Meet you at the tavern after I put things away tonight', I replied. He walked away chuckling; intermittently shaking and nodding his head. A few minute later I spotted a man in the crowd approaching my booth. He looked at me without recognition, but I knew he was one of those who kidnapped me, and he was with Ander confirming my suspicion of Ander's affiliation.
  3. Most of the rhythms you mentioned are not used for investiture but for communication. Intention is important on Roshar so only by communicating the right intention can singers attract specific spren, but the Spren's source is what determines the anti-light not their own preferred tone. Most of those rhythms are like our change in tone of voice and body language. Mist seems analogous to stormlight but, it is broken into 16 different, unique or distinct pulses each paired to a metal to fuel allomancy, a mistborn has access to all 16 pulses within the mist, but a misting only has access to one. Feruchemy appears to be the resonance between Preservation and Ruin, so the metals would again have their own 16 unique pulses which explains why mist doesn't power Feruchemy. Hemalurgy is purely of Ruin or Trell and because it mimics allomancy or feruchemy would probably need composite tones of the spike and the ability mimicked. Since mist is from preservation it cannot power hemalurgy. Besides mist never seems to fuel allomancy, it extends and enhances it in each case it has been used. Scadrian magic has within it the general counter-investiture pulse for all magic systems.
  4. Only if you like a twist on Super heroes. Personally I really liked the series even the end. A steel twin very nice. Scadrial's version of Hermes. Could be a metal born likely to defeat a Radiant. If Aluminum works the way I imagine it does I Might want to be an aluminum twin. I imagine that an Aluminum twin might be able to neutralize the investiture of anyone and copy or steal their identity. Maybe even copy the identity of any investiture source like metals. Aluminum savants appear to immune to shardblades, soul casting, lashings, division, forgery, rioting, soothing, or any other investiture effects.
  5. Maybe this will make more sense. On Roshar you need 1 power source to access all 10 surges or all 9 forms(Venli would likely need an anti Rythm of war light to be fully stopped). On Scadrial you need 16 power sources to access all 16 powers in each magic system. Hemalurgy whether accessed through Ruin or Trell spikes need at least 2 power sources for each ability, the spike and the metal fuel. The power sources of Roshar and Scadrial are not analogous.
  6. Feruchemist doing what you said depends on the size of the minds. A steel twin or pewter twin might be more effective at accomplishing what you said. What do you mean each spren has their own rythm? Their rythm seems dependant on the shard they represent. (Honor, Cultivation, Odium, or other). Metals are known to have unique pulses not dependant on but perhaps influence by the shard source. The question is does a hemalugic steel push have a different pulse than a genetic steel push? If so then Trell spikes will have different pulses than Ruin spikes, which in turn will be different than natural allomantic and feruchemical pulses. Some hemalugic metals can store one of several attibutes so does a steel spike used for one attribute have the same pulse as a steel spike used for another attribute and the same pulse as that metal in allomancy or feruchemy? Metals appear to work like different amps., volts, and currents. of electricity while all Rosharan light works as different currents AC vs DC but one voltage or amp. Or perhaps Roshar is a DC analog with different voltages, and Scadrial metals are an AC analog with different amps., resitance, and volts. There are 3 primary tones and their resonances on Roshar, but there are at least 16 primary pulses on Scadrial related just to allomancy with at least 4 applications or sources.
  7. That's not quite true. An aluminum Misting is known as an Aluminum Gnat. Burning aluminum causes the body to instantly metabolize its metal reserves without any other effect.[9] As such, an Aluminum Gnat gains no useable powers from their Allomancy,[4] however, it can be used to negate effects of other Investiture such as Withering.[10] Only Allomantically relevant metals can be burned away.[11] Allomancy does not affect aluminum even though the metal itself is Allomantically viable.[12] Since aluminum can shield against emotional Allomancy, those who can afford to, often wear hats with aluminum lining.[13] It can also be used to block Allomantic bronze.[14] Savantism[edit] If someone were able to burn the amount of aluminum needed to become an Allomantic savant with the metal, it may be possible to cleanse their spirit of unwanted effects of Investiture.
  8. In the coppermind it says that an aluminum nat savant would be immune to investiture injuries and effects. It also disrupts bend alloy bubbles around its own bubble. Aluminum doesn't actually remove itself it removes all other investiture.
  9. Bronze reveals that each metal has its own pulse, not that there is a single pulse for all allomancy. That is one of the differences between the Scadrian magic system and the Rosharan system. If a seeker could determine the aluminum pulse they would likely be able to nullify any form of investiture, except by its nature discovering that pulse might be virtually impossible.
  10. I was thinking last night that an Aluminum Twin Savant might be potentially lethal for any invested being. As an aluminum savant nat they would likely be immune to Shardblades, because Shardblades cannot cut living flesh, and while burning aluminum they would be immune to the severing affect. They might also produce an aluminum bubble which would nullify all investiture within it causing Shardplate to dissolve, physical and healing enhancements to fail, immunity to all lashings, division surges, and soul casting for the nat. With the investiture nullified they may be able to store the KR and Spren Identities in their metal mind which after killing the KR with a single shot or slice could be recovered, to potentially bond the Spren themselves.
  11. Each metal ability has its own pulse so it is likely that you need a minimum of 32 pulses. If a person has multiple metal abilities you might need at the very least multiple pulses or even some resonance of the pulses for their various abilities. For example Was is a twinborn so you would likely need at least 3 pulses to counter his metal born abilities to account for his misting, ferring, and resonances. Each metal ability seems to have its own pulse unlike on roshar where each light has its own tone. That is related to how the investiture is granted. For Wax you may need anti steel allomancy pulse, anti iron feruchemy pulse, and or an anti resonance pulse to fully disable his metal abilities. Why do you think Ferruchemists can almost always beat Radiants? How would ettmetal affect stormlight and surges? It seems to me that Old Magic is the Rosharan analog to Feruchemy since you take from one thing to strengthen another. The blessing and curse thing. We haven't actually seen a case of Old Magic, since each case presumed to be Old Magic have been Cultivation directly manipulating things, so in the end no actual curse like the Night Walker would give. Still old magic could be game changing.
  12. Not sure it is quite that simple with metalborn magic. There are different pulses for each metal ability so logically you need different anti-pulses for each. In addition there are 4 sources for metal born magic. 3 created through Harmony (Preservation, Ruin, and combined) and one from Trell. Any time you have multiple abilities like with twinborn, Mistborn, Feruchemy, or any misting, feriing, hemalugic, trell hemalurgic combination would likely complicate the necessary tone if it is a tone at all. You might need a distinct tone for each ability and each source to effectively produce anti-metal pulses. Metalborn seem to have unique genetic abilities each powered by individual metals and each producing their own pulse. Rosharan magic seems to be divided into 3 tones/light which are utilized by specific bonds. Another way of saying it is that Rosharans all run on 1 or more of 3 different power sources where Scadrians have 16 different power sources with potentially 4 different power generators. At minimum to counter Scadrians you might need 4,096 pulses or maybe even over 16,000 different pulses, where Rosharans if you find the 3 prime tones you can get their 27 anti-tones or Anti-light presuming you can combine the 3 sources of light. Related yes, the same not necessarily.
  13. I would bet that you could use Stormlight since it seems to be a generic investiture power source not dependant on an individuals particualar innate abilities. I suspect that and allomancer could use it to fuel their specific abilities and feruchemists could use it to fill their metal minds with investiture. I see no reason why you couldn't make a fabrial out of Hemalugic metal powered by stormlight to produce the specific Allomantic or Feruchemic effects granted by the Hemalurgy. Great statement it is on topic.
  14. yes the 2 effects could be related but since they are different systems they could also be substantially different. Odds are that you need a different tone for Lyft than for other Knights. It may not be Preservation's anti-pulse that you need to shut down a Mistborn since Preservation is no longer relevant. In addition Finding the proper tone for a twinborn would be more complicated if a tone exists. Still it's likely that someone with Seeker abilities would have an advantage discovering and using anti-pulses or anti-light and could produce far more targeted attacks. Navani might need an alternate tone to other KR's as well. To counter Scadrian investiture you likely need at least 4 different anti-pulses: Allomantic, Feruchemic, Hemulurgic, and Trellic to be sure. Or just use Aluminum on any invested person you fight. Some Aluminum alloys are stronger than steel but also disable invested abilities. The Aluminum bullets used against Wax were an alloy. One thing you may have overlooked about KR's anti-tone is that Stormlight is a generic investiture powering specific surges, but metal arts are specific investitures powering genetically unique abilities so with metal arts you just might need 16 tones just for allomancy, 16 more for feruchemy and so on.
  15. The same singers could use either void or regular spren to change form. Renarin uses a corrupted Spren as well so the system is the same but the spren which bonds might be different.
  16. A gem could have the same amount of investiture so will or sentience would logically have something to do with resisting anti-tones.
  17. Yes and a metal born would have an advantage knowing which tone to use especially a Seeker.
  18. Right but the anti-voidlight would be deflected from the gem heart because of Raboniels will. Gems have no independent will. why anti voidlight had to be stabbed into her. once in contact; annihilation.
  19. Right that is a responce to the destructive interference. They wont push each other out but annihilate each other when brought into full contact. the tone was only part of the anti-light. In truth light vs anti-light are the same tone perfectly out of phase. that is what it means to be inverted. Reversed is nonsensical when discussing sound, waves, or light.
  20. Do you think that is why there doesn't seem to be a distinct magic system for Odium for Roshar?
  21. that is not pushing out but destructive interference and they are not reversed, they are inverse.
  22. What do you mean by reversing? Anti-light is not the reverse of the related light. It's more like morse code than music. Though that is not a full description. there have been no examples of investiture being pushed out by anything. Even the fabriels and corrupted Sybling didn't push out investiture.
  23. Right though perhaps a little more complex as Vin learned.
  24. the pulses of Atium, Lerasium, and Harmonium would be how they are represented. It is on Roshar that shards have tones which a Bronze misting can sense as pulses.
  25. The Seeker feels pulses, like beats of a drum, emanating from the person burning a metal. The metals are grouped into fast and slow, pushing and pulling, and have their own signature feel.Nov 22, 2020 Seeker - The Coppermind Wiki
