  1. I've reached 100 posts! It might not be that much, but I already feel a bit like a part of this community. My first month and a half so far on the Shard has been wonderful. I've had lots of fun playing SE & theorizing about RoW, and I'm excited to continue being here.

Wow. I only have like 160 something. How do you post so much?

You actually have more posts per day than me. You joined on September 25, which was 30+31+5 =66 days ago. 166 posts/66 days=2.515. I joined on October 15, which was 16+30=46 days ago. 100 posts/46 days=2.174.

Wow. MATH :). I guess I do post a bit more than you

  2. "That's unlike any Affect that I've ever heard of. Where did you get that power from?" Erenshi asks.
  3. But on Roshar, he's an ardent, so he doesn't get paid there.
  4. I think that this might be the result of some sort of system that was meant to keep them from getting too Intent-bound overreacting. It was originally meant to stabilize their mental states by "tugging" in the opposite direction from the effect of people's perceptions, but it tugged too far. There's no evidence of such warping happening before the Oathpact was abandoned and Taln doesn't seem to be reacting against people's perception of him the way that the others are (though he does have his own problems, which are probably the result of the thousands of years of torture he went through unaided), so it's likely a direct result of the lack of a Connection to the Oathpact.
  5. "The previous times that I Discovery-jumped, I ended up fairly close to home, but I don't recognize any of the stars here. How did everyone else get here? Perhaps we can figure out why this place seems to be drawing people to it." Erenshi said, walking away from the crashed space-canoe towards Rekaerb, Pruss, and Trylle.
  6. A spherical area of the air seems to ripple, and for a moment anybody looking could have seen a sky filled with stars. An object like a large, enclosed canoe with wing-like protrusions drops out of the hole, which soon disappears, and begins to fall. As it falls, a parachute opens, but it does not slow the fall quickly enough to save the ship. The wings break as they hit the ground. A person whose proportions are a bit too different to be human opens a panel in the ship’s side and steps out, carrying an iridescent cube with a dark aperture and several buttons. “Hello, my name is Erenshi. Where am I? This world looks different from any that I've ever seen." Noticing the dead, burned monster, Erenshi asks, "What is this creature? I've never seen anything like it.”
  7. I was certain from the beginning that Navani would become the Sibling's Bondsmith.
  8. When I was reading RoW, I noticed that the Stump's spren's name, Dreaming-though-awake, was very different from that of Renarin's corrupted Mistspren. Near the end, we saw Tumi. Both corrupted spren have short names with no obvious meaning, while the single normal Mistspren which we know of has a name made up of several words. As far as I know, alll other types of spren have relatively consistent naming patterns. I wonder, do corrupted/Enlightened sentient spren change their names?
  9. Whimsy is a noun, while whimsical is an adjective. On a semi-related note, I found it interesting that Mercy, who I'd have thought of as one of the less dangerous and combative Shards, worries Sazed and participated in a battle between Shards..
  10. I'd like to join as the Truthwatcher in the second set. Is there any format that I should follow or any particular detail that I should includei n my character sheet? What's happened since the beginning that I should be aware of?
  11. Why does Roshar have bad infrastructure? Because nobody there pays Tax.
  12. I didn't know that Mayalaran could grant access to the Surge of 3d Modeling.
  13. I will join, but I probably won't be very active until after finals. Does "Rarashe-son-Lurdroler" have any relation to Rashek, the Lord Ruler?
  14. A 2x2x2x2 hypercube would probably be more accurate for that.
  15. I've also read in my dreams multiple times. Each time, it was a very strange continuation of a book that I was reading at the time, but it was at least semi-coherent. I've also read when I was in that strange state that I get into sometimes when I've just woken up but I vividly imagine my actions (like in a dream) instead of actually doing them. My Kindle was in my bed, so I tried to move my hand to get it out to read, but instead I just imagined it and read a very strange version of the book I was reading until I could persuade my body that I was in the real world. and actually read.
  16. I'm an INTP, which definitely fits me. It's interesting how, while INTP is one of the less common types overall, it's the most common type in the poll, and the types in second and (tied for) third place are one step off from INTP. Perhaps INTPs and people with many similar traits are more likely to: a. browse this forum, b.take the test or have taken the test in the past, and c. post their results in the poll.
  17. I also definitely read too much. If there's something to read in a random room, then I will read it. Once I start reading anything remotely interesting, it's hard to put it down until I finish it, so normal books are like sanderlanches for me, while actuall sanderlanches are like ultra-mega-sanderlanches instead.
  18. I have the exact same problem. Once I'm in a conversation, I can basically run on inertia, but whenever I try to reach out to somebody, I panic and worry about how they'll react and I simply can't do it. It's especially hard to reach out individually to people who I don't know very well, but, especially recently, even starting conversations with friends (online, of course, because of the pandemic) and posting on forums has become stressful because I'm nervous about what people might think. I also have a phobia of getting shots. I know that I need to get them and I don't want to get sick with the diseases which they prevent, but I still panic when I see hypodermic needles or think about getting a shot. Oddly, this is just for shots, not other similar things such as blood tests.
  19. Te dragon flew over its wide barren and pulchritudinous star
  20. I'm joining as the blue team spymaster.
  21. When you find a Stormlight reference in every sentence in Latin class that has the word "sword," weapon," or "honor" in it.
  22. When you hum to the Rhythm of Joy when the package tracker says that your copy of Rhythm of War is coming a day earlier than you expected.
  23. When you only get dragged back to reality when thinking about RoW in math class after you hear your teacher talk about the gradient of a function & think that she said "Radiant of a function."
  24. My copy is coming next Tuesday. Next. Tuesday. 6 more entire days. It's almost physically painful. The only positive is that it'll come right before Thanksgiving break, so it won't distract me while I'm supposed to be doing homework. That's even worse. I'm so glad I didn't order from Amazon.
