  1. When your toes turn blue because you sat weird, and you think 'hey! Elantrian feet!'
  2. My copies of Mistborn Era Two are a bit creased, but that's about it.
  3. Is anyone else seeing a weird thing where the post dates suggest that we're already in 2021?

It'll be fine once we switch over to the new year, I guess.
Wait, but if the time zone thing was true, then we would have similar issues near midnight. Perhaps it's only with the year?

I killed the bots, don't worry.

The site does weird things at the new year, yeah. It'll be normal again soon.

  4. Well, yes. My bad, I'm horrible at voicing things.
  5. Daaaang, that's gorgeous! I think it was the same for me, when I read the Hobbit. I read The Lord of the Rings right after, so it might have been then, but it felt old, and full of history.
  6. It really is. I really get Vivenna's thought process too - she's a big sister, and she's trying to protect her little sister. But Siri doesn't need as much protection as Vivenna thinks she does. She's grown up, she's not a little girl anymore.
  7. Me too. The Lay of Leithian is amazing, but there's something about the story of Gondolin that gets me.
  8. From Isildur to Aragorn it's thirty-nine generations. My instinct is to say that Elros to Aragorn is sixty-four, but I'm probably off on that. I feel like my Children of Hurin is going to be the first to go, I have the mass-market paperback, and I have a bad habit of opening those too much while reading.
  9. Here's the thing. A lot of people say Stormlight would be best as an anime or other animated medium, and logically, I get that. But I can't connect to animated characters. Not the way I connect to live-action. It just doesn't feel real. I don't feel like the characters are in danger. There are exceptions to this, but very rarely. So I say live-action TV series, because as much as I want to sit in a theater in absolute awestruck chills as Kaladin does... Kaladin things (one liners, Ideals, more one-liners), a TV series would be better to get more story told.
  10. I was reading the appendices of ROTK (because I will need to be dragged kicking and screaming from Middle-earth), and I am in awe. Because Tolkien went and wrote not just the names of every important person in the Third Age, he also wrote why they were important. There is so much stuff. Also, I drew Maglor. You can see the edge of Faramir in the corner.
  11. There's a whole thread somewhere for this, but I agree about The Force Awakens.
  12. 99.8% of me agrees with you, and 0.2% of me that's full of optimistic nostalgia is hoping that somehow something will make the sequels become good movies.
  13. Ayyyyy, good ol' Nolofinwe! Fancy meeting you here... incredible music, thanks for the link!
  14. Well, I'm almost done with The Return of the King, and starting to get the bittersweet emotions. I'm not quite ready to leave Middle-earth, but that time is rapidly approaching. However, everything's lining up to go straight to Unfinished Tales of Numenor and Middle-earth. I'm really excited, I bought the new edition with Alan Lee's illustrations! I also read Fairest by Marissa Meyer, the novella about Queen Levana. It was interesting. Not my favorite, but not my least favorite either.
  15. Down in General Discussion, there's a RP subforum. That's where those are.
  16. Yes, there are! I'm not part of most of them, but FOTT is pretty big. It all started when @Channelknight Fadran was bored and wanted to mess around... now it's got six threads and like thirty characters. I know @Condensation has made a few RPs.
  17. Welcome to the Shard! Great to have you here! I love your animatics by the way, I've seen them around and I really like the style you use. I have a special place in my heart for the RPs, especially The Fellowship of the Thing, as a semi-member of it.
  18. I agree with you about Aang and Katara. I'm not sure how to verbalize it other than that I think they're too young for romance and there are more important things going on. And yes, more Zuko!
  19. Radioactive elves... I like it! And then that explains why the Silmarils burn things too. There is, it's really interesting. I've been thinking about it a lot recently, kind of writing an essay in my head about it. And yes, Sam saw 'a star through her fingers'.
  20. Diacritics! The bane of typing. I think the Lay of Gil-Galad might be my favorite too. I have the whole thing memorized. (Not very hard, there's three verses. )
  21. Curumo/Saruman is the second who rebelled, right? Had a thought whilst making lunch - you know how it's canon that High Elves glow? I had this image of the glow being like a supernova. That would be really cool. Imagine how terrifying that could be.
  22. Oh, I never realized that! I always thought of Manwe as the opposite of Morgoth, because of the fact that they're brothers, but you're right! And yeah, the Ainulindale is amazing. It's just sort of everything at once, if you get my meaning. Forgot to do this in the original post, but @Truthwatcher at the Rim, I made the thread!
  23. When you decide not to buy Warbreaker or Elantris, you buy Warbreaker and Elantris.
  24. I said I'd make it, so here I am. It'll probably die quickly, since I think I have yet to make a thread that didn't experience sudden lithobraking maneuvers, but, y'know. Some quick things to cover, I'm going to say, for the moment, that anything that happens in the published Silmarillion, Hobbit, or Lord of the Rings, doesn't need spoiler boxes. Just to minimize confusion, however, discussion of drafts that were not in the final books (History of Middle-earth, mostly) might need spoiler boxes to keep things clear. (An example would be trying to figure out who Gil-galad's father is, since that requires a lot of digging through old drafts.) I probably don't need to say this, but keep discussions respectful! Not really worried about this, since Sanderfans are super nice, and so are Tolkien fans, so it's like a Venn Diagram of wonderfulness. Y'all are amazing. ) If this thread gains traction, I'll see about putting up a poll so we can vote on what, if anything, to spoiler box. Okay, to kick off the discussion! Who are your favorite character(s) in the Legendarium? Mine are Faramir, Maglor, and Tuor. Oh, and Voronwe, he has the ocean Vibe. Can't explain it. From this, you may have gathered that I like blue. Oh, and here's another thing I just remembered. In the books, the Rohirrim were described as having long, braided hair. How come no one ever picks up on that? If anyone knows what an ell is, would you be willing to share your knowledge?
  25. Don't use her name, and you're right, she did. I completely forgot about that.
