  1. So, Shard, I have a question.

    How do you people?

I realize that that might not be the best question to ask on a site full of bookworms, but seriously.  How do you:

    1. Talk to people outside of when you have to (for a project, job, etc.)
    2. Make friends
    3. Maintain friendships

    I'm at a loss.

    Spoiler

Please help, I have two weeks to figure this out.

Figure out what people like and ask them about it. Truthless of Shinovar likes rock climbing. So if you ask him about it, he'll talk about it. If they ask you a question, respond. Depending on how they stand - it can get complicated - talk long or talk short then ask another question about them.

      1. Small Talk: fake it til you make it. Every time I’m forced to make small talk with someone I don’t really know, it’s just, literal fight or flight response. Just ultimate panic mode. But you just have to keep smiling and asking/answering questions. Also, let me introduce you to the magic words “let me let you go.” Easiest exit out of a conversation ever, especially phone calls.

      2. make friends: extracurricular activities work pretty well for this. Common interests and all that.

      3. maintain friends: Don’t be a jerk, don’t be friends with jerks, don’t actively avoid them or go months without talking.
