Long Game 90: Undiluted Powers
Ashbringer replied to Araris Valerian's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I've been a part of several Elim teams that get immediately put on the defensive by an Elim dying or nearly dying in the first cycle. The D1 exe is the best starting point, because otherwise we're just dealing with whoever the Elims (and/or Coinshots) decide to try and kill, which means we'd be down a few players to start. And Village Coinshots would be in the same boat of the D1 vote if they got to go first, only they can't talk to anyone to figure out a plan. (Or they could, but claiming D1 as a Coinshot is a... risky strategy. I'm not big on roleclaims in general, let alone early ones.) Even if it catches a Villager first, we need to start somewhere.- 788 replies

Good to know I do have a reason of my own for voting you over a few of the others, but it's not something major in and of itself. A lot of D1 is finding out how people act / react to things. For instance, @The Bookwyrm, you mentioned voting me for voting someone who hadn't shown up yet, but why me over Matrim or Kasimir who did the same thing?- 788 replies

Long Game 90: Undiluted Powers

AraRaash finally had a turn. It had certainly been a while, hadn't it? Since he'd been out and about. Since he'd visited Tyrian Falls. That had been an adventure. But it was different now. They didn't know the Spiked, but the Spiked also shouldn't be acting at full capability. He'd know if they were. You were here before? In time, before? the voice of Faleast said in the back of his head. "Yep. Before the rebellion. Someone wanted a Contract that was more... extensive than usually permitted. And I wanted to take a look." And a look AraRaash had gotten. And more than enough Memories. A little trip down memory lane never hurt anyone, right? Not entirely sure how much time I've got but I should have enough to pay attention. Also Cinnamon and all, welcome to SE!- 788 replies

Cassie gave a small start. Stormlight to electricity... that was a huge leap in technology. Perhaps not an unexpected one, with Surge fabrials and the Alleyplanet's resources, but still nothing she'd ever seen. And even the least efficient way could get a lot of power. "The mysteries of Intent are... beyond me. Definitely a part of my studies. And Stormlight is almost more available than electricity." She paused. Was that Scadrial's language? It had been a while, and she hadn't taken Technotic for a Scadrian. But he was full of surprises. "I'd think I'll keep using it a little. I have a few things I still need it for anyway. Speaking of which... perhaps I should be going. I have a few things left to try with my designs."

Byron: So Byron needs some work. Both in powerset and in personality, because I don't know enough about science to extrapolate what ramifications his powers would have, and an antisocial runaway in group RP tends to not go well. So any and all advice is welcome, whether about his abilities and how powerful/limited they should be or how to make a character start interacting more.
-
Kalten: Cassie: Putting Byron into Character Discussion a bit later, because I need him to get looked at a bit more before he actually gets approved / am not even sure I'm using him this era.

Ah. Both were in 2014, but Sixth was from June. And missed that about Sazed, but unless Trell is somehow Discord-Sazed that means the kandra aren't Trell. Maybe someone around Wit? Words of Radiance was fair game at that point, but not OB.

But the Fused shouldn't be able to leave Roshar because they're Cognitive Shadows. Too Invested to leave the Rosharan system. His "agents" would need to be regular Rosharans (and most likely humans to communicate offworld) he'd somehow convinced to fight for him, through Unmade influence or someone coming to Braize specifically. Which is possible, based on several things, but I feel like we should have met this person before.

It's also possible kandra worldhopped of their own accord, or under the influence of the original Ruin/Preservation or The Lord Ruler. Or that it meant Sixth of the Dusk, which is post-Era 3. Paalm appearing in White Sand or [insert story involving the entity known on Scadrial as Trell] is probably the most likely kandra cameo that is "relevant" though.

Anyone know what happened to the Trellium spikes that Bleeder had when she died? They seem really exited to have one now, and I thought they'd had access to those prior.

It could also be another force. Odium I assume would have a hand in the Everstorm and all, but the rules for Shards (especially Odium) talking to people aren't exactly clear. Odium appeared to people he'd Invested, and also Taravangian and Dalinar. All to say is I don't know how Odium could directly recruit a Feruchemist.

Cassandra gave a sad smile. “It could work. It’s more on the track I was looking for. But I don’t know how much of me is human anymore. I’ll pay for the comission on the glove though,” she added, removing the strange enhancer and fishing in her bag for the right mark. ”This planet has so much… there has to be something. Somewhere.” She was in denial, still looking for a perfect bargain. Even still, that surprised her. She’d never been one to follow a rigid pattern of how she reacted to things, even after getting the Soulcaster. She hadn’t felt angry at her diagnosis. Just… stunned. In denial. Then straight to bargaining, trying to find a way out. There was a way out. Hang up the Soulcaster. Take whatever enhancing devices Technotic had available, whatever connection she would need, and live the rest of her life as a simple Lurcher and blacksmith. Sell the Soulcaster to the highest bidder, bury it, break it, cast it into Shadesmar or some lost Alley. Get rid of it. But she couldn’t. She still wanted to bargain. And the project was the only offer left. ”If you have designs for how those fabrials work, I may have another way to power them. I could pay for that as well.”

I would think the Sovereign's Friends would have a better grip in Southern Scadrial than someone like the Set, but them being influenced towards a war is definitely likely.

I agree on the bomb front, but what's interesting from the blurb is it sounds like it's a "new type of explosive", in a world where both dynamite and ettmetal exist and there shouldn't really be more high-scale weaponry for a while yet. So I'm wondering what that could even be... biggest scale up is nuclear but that would be a pretty big step RoW Spoilers: The constable seemed to think Trellium had explosive power, and we did see the Trell-Faceless Immortal that blew up at the end of Bands of Morning, although how much damage that did isn't really clear. Not a nuclear bomb by any means. But Bilming specifically stocking up on dried food is giving me some Final Empire Storecache vibes. Also unrelated, but I thought that the people writing about Marasi in the broadsheets were more gossip stories than heroic adventures, but I may have been reading into it wrong.

Odium could have agents enacting his will on Scadrial, just not his personal influence (ie Fused). But based on what we've seen with Trell's abilities, it seems like there is personal influence and Investiture. One other thing to add to the mix: Axindweth, the Feruchemist that showed up on Roshar and somehow had a gem with a Voidspren in it. Does anyone think she relates to the Set? Because I don't think she's a Ghostblood. I've also been trying to find anything on the timeframe of the Set and Trell interfering on Scadrial, because Era 2 happens at most 10 years post-SA 5, so at most... 20 years after Gavilar's death? I thought Trell had been happening on Scadrial for a while.

I’ll join in. Probably as Faleast but that’ll wait to see what happens. Just to verify, there’s no actions that take place during the Day, right? Just Thugs that can survive in the Day?- 788 replies

Cassie nodded. "Interesting." The design was certainly... well, interesting. She wasn't sure how else to describe it. A full arm or suit would almost certainly help her movement, at least until she froze up entirely. And like Technotic said, there were ways to get around that. Different ways, but ways. So why was she so apprehensive? She knew. It wasn't a permanent solution, and it would be something she'd be dependent on for the rest of her life. Cassie knew that there wasn't a much better one - while her Project was in theory permanent, she'd need Investiture regularly to survive. But still. But still... "I'm not sure what I want either. I had... an idea. I don't think I'll find it here, though. But this will at least help the short term. I'd buy a commission on a left-arm glove."

I honestly think this is probably what we'll find. The red spots sound much more like corruption than a god metal innately being speckled, and it behaves like atium is known to behave. There's also the point where the trellium spike started repelling from the other Hemalurgic spikes, which reminds me of the mists moving away from active Hemalurgy. More corrupting. As for whether it's Odium or Autonomy... not sure. Probably one of the two, unless it's Ati back from the dead-dead or Discord somehow working behind Harmony's back. I'd lean more Autonomy, but mainly because Odium spreading major influence over Scadrial would be kinda major spoilers for how SA 5 might turn out.

Cassie shifted, and her arm moved too. It felt somewhat smoother, but... stranger. She couldn't tell if it was just not how she'd gotten used to moving or was actually made weird by the addition of motion. It sure felt like there were little magnets, pulling at her arm and hand and fingers. "It certainly is effective. But I don't know how useful it would be for me. Too... it would take a lot of getting used to. A full arm glove might be more natural. That, and I'd imagine the technology would extrapolate more to your condition." She paused. "Perhaps if things get worse. Is it a fabrial, or another motivator?"

Cassie took the sleeve and examined it. It... well, she couldn't tell. But at least it didn't seem made for a leg. Was probably a similar idea for Technotic, but if he thought it was worth a shot, she might as well try it. She slipped the black sleeve over her arm, then paused briefly before exchanging the glove on her left hand for the new glove. "Alright. I can feel it at least."

They have them, but the weakness is less impactful like what happens after a Calamity Epic faces theirs, iirc.

If I had to guess, creating an Allomancy Medallion would somehow need to take away the Allomantic powers from the original Misting. Not too much point in doing that. That, or filling and tapping a medallion is complicated. If I remember right, we've only seen tapping brass, tapping duralumin, and filling iron, then Hoid's Coppermind coin. Maybe they need the original Ferring to fill the brass + duralumin and tap the iron. Doesn't fit for Hoid's coin, but that's Hoid. Don't really know how much that fits, as tapping brass shouldn't be so different than tapping other attributes.
