  1. I'm not entirely sure how much is serious, but please remember that this is a game we all play, and try and make sure everyone has some fun!
  2. Three and fifty-three/sixtieths hours left in the turn! Vote Count: Illwei (5): Matrim's Dice, The Unknown Novel, The Wandering Wizard, Shining Silhouette, Kasimir The Unknown Novel (2): _Stick_, Illwei Turtle (1): Archer
  3. Four hours left in the turn! Vote Count: Illwei (4): The Unknown Novel, The Wandering Wizard, Shining Silhouette, Kasimir The Unknown Novel (2): _Stick_, Illwei Turtle (1): Archer
  4. Minor clarifications: Multiple kills targeting the same individual are not distinguished. The Protect from Blessing of Presence does block multiple kills. The Elim kill and Potency kill happen simultaneously, so neither disrupts the other.
  5. Uhhh… Elim and Potency kills should happen at the same time. Neither comes “first”.
  6. LG89 Day 3: Acid, Acid Everywhere, and Not a Drop to Drink Kandra had been faced with acid before. Not enough to evolve a defense against it - that would take many more years, if it was even possible - but enough to know how it could be used against them. For example, it usually involved throwing or pouring, which was difficult with broken limbs. Tonight, they'd be ready. Someone had found two kandra struggling over such a bucket of acid. By the time AarChur had gotten there, one had already been burned beyond any saving, but the other bore the markings of a failed escape from the hammer of one endowed with the Blessing of Potency. As for where AarChur had come from... well, that's not the important point of the story, is it? Two kandra had just died. Surely that's more interesting than just one? That tale can wait to be told. Conquestor was killed! They were a member of the Second Generation with a Blessing of Stability! JNV was killed! They were a member of the Third Generation with a Blessing of Awareness! SymphonianBookworm has met the inactivity filter and has been replaced by @Archer! Please welcome them to the game! The turn will end at 8:00 PM PDT (or 10:00 PM CDT) on Sunday, September 25th. Player List:
  7. LG89 Night 2: Unfounded A few kandra could have encountered ArVaal in the night. One of them was WalDo. They'd been a bit too hard to find, maybe a bit too aware. WalDo insisted they were a member of the Second Generation, had the knowledge of the First in order to prove it. The council imprisoned them all the same. Shqueeves was imprisoned! They were a member of the Second Generation with a Blessing of Awareness! Vote Count: Shqueeves (4): Matrim's Dice, The Wandering Wizard, Shining Silhouette, Kasimir _Stick_ (2): Conquestor, JNV Shining Silhouette (2): _Stick_, Illwei The Unknown Novel (1): The Unknown Novel @SymphonianBookworm is being warned for inactivity. Please make a post this turn or you will be replaced by a pinch hitter. (Speaking of which, if any onlookers would like to become pinch hitters, let me know!) The turn will end at 8:00 PM PDT (or 10:00 PM CDT) on Friday, September 23rd. Player List:
  8. I'm gonna check with Devotary, but at least by D3. Maybe by N2 (this rollover), as they've been online on the Shard, but not entirely sure how that works. Also depends on Archer's availability. Vote Count _Stick_ (2): Conquestor, The Wandering Wizard JNV (1): Matrim's Dice Shining Silhouette (1): _Stick_ Turtle (1): Illwei Shqueeves (1): Kasimir
  9. Vote Count (I hope): JNV (2): Kasimir, Matrim's Dice Shining Silhouette (1): _Stick_ Matrim's Dice (1): Conquestor Turtle (1): Illwei Also @SymphonianBookworm, you haven't posted in a while - I haven't really set up an inactivity filter but I probably will the end of this turn.
  10. LG89 Day 2: Kandra's Blood Kandra don't really bleed. They can, if they're usually doing it for show. Kandra can survive all kinds of mutilations, you see. ArVaal, though... the Thirds had used acid. It could melt through their skin in a way that wouldn't regenerate. When the group had found him there wasn't much left. Just bones, two spikes, and the fragments that made up the real kandra's blood. You couldn't accidentally kill a kandra that way. It just didn't happen. This was war. Araris Valerian was killed! They were a member of the Second Generation with a Blessing of Presence! The turn will end at 8:00 PM PDT (or 10:00 PM CDT) on Thursday, September 22nd. Player List:
  11. I have done a thing! Mostly just justifications for Terminator-Cassie in case I can't get more involvement from her this Era, but hey now I don't need to try and justify it by the world rebooting.
  12. When had been the last time she'd actually looked at her arm? Not just taken a quick glance at the tone and the flexibility, but really, really looked at it? A month? A year? Cassie had spent so long just looking at the surface, just making sure everything looked fine and that she could keep going out in her favorite dress, or at least her favorite dress with a gloved safehand, or so many other little compromises that seemed so simple at the time. It wasn't simple. Nothing was simple. She knew that when she'd seen the other Soulcasters, seen people of grain and glass and sometimes of nothing at all. She knew that when she'd tried to steal the Soulcaster she now carried, and instead took it as a spoil from a monster made of more metal than flesh. They were dying. All of them. Cassie didn't know how long she had. She'd spent the last week - or two weeks? - just trying to learn about what she'd ignored for decades, the process of savantism. There were reports of people surviving it, or at least living while treating it as any other affliction. But for every answer there was another question, one Cassie couldn't answer. There was the best case, someone who had managed to emerge from savantism as a fully-fledged Elsecaller: but desperation was never a good way to attract a Nahel bond, and any spren within her own Soulcaster had given no reaction. The simplest solution was simply to give up the Soulcaster, but Cassie had long ago rejected that idea - not only was it too late, it would be the end of the Emporium. Then there were... darker options. Ways of extending one's life with Hemalurgy or other, more esoteric Investitures did exist, but what little that she knew of Hemalurgy was enough to make her stay far away. The only option she'd thrown away sooner was passing the Soulcaster onto Poller. There were some lines Cassandra did not cross. Maybe, long ago, she would have been more likely to explore them, and less likely to go onto her third path. But those lines seemed more solid now. More set in stone... or steel. Rusts. Cassie knew that was a step - her very soul was becoming more metallic. Hopefully it would stay mostly symbolic and not literal. Cassie moved her left arm off her upstairs desk and roughly organized her papers into a pile, then paused and smiled for a second. Her metal fingers wouldn't get paper cuts. That was convenient. She still swept those papers to a corner, then looked at her third stack. Cognitive Shadows were not something Cassie had... well, any experience with. Only legends of the Survivor and of the Heralds, and other myths of people living when they should not, and of hearing last goodbyes and guardian spirits. But the Alleyverse - and the Ghostbloods, as part of their trade for those spikes - had a lot of information. Verified information. And finally, an idea: securing a Cognitive Shadow into a Physical aspect. A way to secure a soul after death. Or at least a facsimile of her soul, but that distinction didn't mean too much to Cassie - for so long the only purpose a soul held was to be ripped apart to fuel Inquisitor's spikes in scary, too-real stories. She'd need a few things. A body - if Cassie did this right, she could likely use her own. A soul - the same. Then a Link. Some way of tying the two items together once they'd been separated. The Ghostbloods had recommended a spike, a staple. But Cassie had spent enough time on Roshar to learn about trapping Investiture in gemstones. Cassie reached for a pen and began slowly, carefully, crafting a letter. Silberfarben's contact for amethysts had proved quite capable at providing amethysts. She felt they could come through for this. She'd make it well worth their while. It would make her immortal, after all.
  13. LG89 Night 1: Evidence of Treachery The Second Generation had taken to concealing their true identities, which had led to some... interesting conversations. It had let the Third Generation inside, being unable to truly identify the Second's Council, but it also left them exposed and in a place where they could be caught. The imprisonment was meant to be a last resort, a way to limit intra-kandra violence in a way that meant something - especially when the classical punishment of banishment was more a reward for the problematic ones. But when a member of the group was found with a Blessing of Potency, one too fresh and too well-utilized to be from the Second Generation - Imprisonment took a new use. xinoehp512 was imprisoned! They were a member of the Third Generation with a Blessing of Potency! Vote Count: xinoehp512 (5): Matrim's Dice, Shining Silhouette, Araris Valerian, Conquestor, Illwei Matrim's Dice (1): Kasimir _Stick_ (1): JNV Araris Valerian (1): _Stick_ Kasimir (1): xinoehp512 The turn will end at 8:00 PM PDT (or 10:00 PM CDT) on Tuesday, September 20th.
