Maddy's halfway raised hand flopped back down. "Or that... that works too..."

Snowy perked up. “HI, PIANIAMAISSIAO!!!!”

Maddy reluctantly raised her hand halfway. “I’m competent... but I don’t know who I’m looking for. Or where to go. I honestly don’t know why I was brought along.”

Maddy nodded, relaxing her mind and imagining the architecture of the university back on her home island, where she learned her art and learned about building design. She pondered on how to make the arches and corners more efficient and structurally sound, placing symmetric designs along the borders. Ideas sprung into her head. Flicking her hand down, Maddy felt a charge of energy run into her fingertips. Fueling her Aspect took conscious effort, though it was as strong and long-lasting as any.

“Yeah, just not quite sure what I’m getting into.”

“Do we know where on the island Trace is? Or are we just going to walk around until we find her?”

Maddy looked up. “Oh, we’re here!” Indeed, the island lay in view, growing larger on the horizon. It would make a beautiful painting in another day, though now she was on a mission.

Snowy put his paws on his ears, pushing them down on top of his head, imagining having none visible. “Sounds less fluffy!”

Snowy squinted up at the dragon. “I don’t see any ears...”

“Interesting. Do you know how this... takeover occurred? I haven’t heard of anything like it.” Maddy snorted. Of course there was; what was a mission with out a chance of getting blown up?

Maddy raised an eyebrow at the outburst, but had learned not to question things like that. The woman obviously was scarred, clinging to hope of whatever 'Janice' was' redemption. Serving as a soldier for so long had taught her that in situations like this 'saving' threats was very, very unlikely. Cadenza could provide some trouble depending on how long she held on to the hope. But being a soldier for so long had also taught her to hold her tongue, so she simply said "Who's Janice?"

Finally Maddy has to speak. "Hold on, I thought we were sent to neutralize the threat. How risky would it be to try to reverse... whatever this is?"

The conversation wore on, and for the first time in her life Maddy felt like a real child. Growing up with such influential parents she had never really struggled with anything and had been taught well. Always high marks, always a leader, always superior. Now, she had no idea what these men were speaking of. Like Colonel. But at least he was speaking up.
