Once upon a time, a bunch of ordinary Sharders got together one December and had a great idea. (Well, it was mostly Fadran, but we helped some too!) We were to put together a Christmas Extravaganza Bash of Amazingness- with a Secret Santa, Advent Calendar, Sanderson Carol Parodies, and this: a fully original 20 chapter story written by US. It was created, well, chapter-by-chapter! We each took turns writing a chapter, but only had whichever chapter came chronologically before ours to go off of. And having read it putting this thread together, I can tell you, it is one heck of a story. It may be inconsistent at times, but that's part of the fun! I hope you all enjoy reading what we have created. Just remember to rep those involved, because they deserve it immensely! But before Hentient kicks us off... I know it's been said, many times, many ways... Merry Christmas, everyone! Well and truly, Merry Christmas. Not just from me, but from all of us who wrote this. Now... without further ado... I present: THE 17TH SHARD'S CHRISTMAS CHAPTER BY CHAPTER!!!!! Prologue, by @Hentient Chapter One: A Claus, by @Spren of Kindness Chapter Two: Responsibilities, by @The Awakened Salad Chapter Three: The First Step, by @JesterLavorre Chapter Four: Eyes, by @Matrim's Dice Chapter Five: Into the Storm, by @Bearer of all agonies Chapter Six: Abysmal Gate, by @Nathrangking Chapter Seven: Forgotten Memories, by @Ookla the Shadowed (Experience) Chapter Eight: Ghosts of the Past, by @Truthless of Shinovar Chapter Nine: A Promise, by @Channelknight Fadran Chapter Ten: New Problem, by @HoidWasTaken Chapter Eleven: Stump, by @Shard of Reading Chapter Twelve: Wire, by @Hentient Chapter Thirteen: Success, by @Spren of Kindness Chapter Fourteen: Fire, by @JesterLavorre Chapter Fifteen: Relics, by @Matrim's Dice Chapter Sixteen: Preparation, by @Bearer of all agonies Chapter Seventeen: Into Mystery, by @Nathrangking Chapter Eighteen: Northern Lights, by @Truthless of Shinovar Epilogue, by @Channelknight Fadran

Like I said, there is gut involved. D1 it'd be hard to not have that. But here's what I was referencing: *Proceeds to not find anything* ...Okay, I have no idea what I was referencing. I see stuff others said in there, but your recent post makes a very good point. I rescind my vote ( Straw ) but the gut still is there if admittedly the reasoning is not. Sorry about that, I've confused myself. I might just not vote. I doubt I'll check back in around rollover. Lemme skim the thread real quick... I've been accused of being to... easy to convince, and that is... definitely warranted. But I agree with the majority of Straw's reads. I think I'll keep a vote off, but Snipexe's post looked more elim this readthrough.

Don't know what that means, but sure I guess Literally me every game xD When I type 90% of the time it is what it would be if I were just talking. I think that particular line was in response to Breaker saying they knew it didn't look good themselves, and I was agreeing, like 'hey, that's true, but also an elim would probably put it in the doc, not the thread'. While I disagree with Snipexe's view, I don't think it's necessarily AI, at least not now. Agree with the majority on Breaker and Quinn. Ash's analysis seems good, though I nearly always have a village read on Ash. I'll join Ash on voting Straw, though mine is not a poke. It also is not a response to his read on me. It's founded on the grounds that the reads list is mostly composed of things already said, with that dreaded pinch of gut that cannot be ignored . I probably will be available for the next few hours, but I won't be this evening or tomorrow much, if at all. Merry Christmas!

It does not get disturbed, so in the example there would be Highstorms D3, D4, and D6. The normal storms give less spheres, though. Hmm, yeah. I'll change that. Maybe I'm still influenced by losing my first elim game to a double-action scan I think I'll keep that one the same. I legitimately did not think about how I would round the odd ones But looking at it now, 3 would go to 2, 5 would go to 3, and 7 would go to 4... so that's up, I guess. No. Should they? I mean, I don't want him to be indestructible... this would make Elhokar fundamentally proof from execution, which would then make him vulnerable by night, which I guess works. I'm trying to think about how this would go (Thinking out loud here)... Elhokar is up for execution, uses this, survives. The elims know that either they're Elhokar or they had the item, and probably will kill them anyway, but there are other protects... yeah, I think that'd be fine, actually. I'll change it. Yes, it is in addition. (See above, TJ) If the Highprinces voted for a Highstorm the same cycle there already would be one, they'd get the spheres from both storms, so 5 altogether. Yes. Whichever event is triggered is noted in the Day cycle afterward. So if the Highprinces triggered Political Vengeance N4, the D5 writeup would include a notice that Political Vengeance had been triggered. While it does function like that, really I just stole it from LG70's Adjudicator role because I liked the mechanic In that game... well, in that game the neutral had the role, so it probably wasn't used to its fullest potential, but I think it could have been used somewhat accurately had it been in village hands. But that's only one game. Thanks for the feedback!

Looking at the current count all five votes- except possibly Araris'- are poke/joke votes. Sooooo I doubt it will stay, but we probably should veer into actual exe discussion. Agree on Breaker, they seem village. If they are elim, I would maybe stick Quinn in that team as well, but as of now they both seem fine to me. I'll reread what's been posted so far and return with further thoughts, maybe an actual vote.

Because my LG shouldn't be ran anytime near the AG, today I designed another LG to run once my slot comes up. It's set during tWoK time period. Presenting: Alethi Politics! The main thing I'm looking for feedback on is the marketplace, particularly the pricing. Any feedback, however, is much appreciated. Thanks!

Yeah, I joined the Shard while reading WoT, thus my username. I still haven't finished it, having put it down book 11 in boredom. Only one of those is actually a new player

I dislike the mindset that C1 is a lost cause. I've seen plenty of games, on this forum and on others, where C1 successfully yields evil fruit. Admitting defeat before even beginning analyzation is just a victory for the elims. It's only random chance if we let it be. Which new people? More poke votes? I've only done one, and that's on you. I'd say that's typical of me. My vote on Breaker isn't a poke vote. I don't know what to make of this, honestly. You being a new player threw me off a little bit, but it seems you joined the Shard long before me and have probably been in contact with SE people for longer than I have as well, which I had initially missed when assuming there was nowhere for you to have heard Araris' reputation other than this game's elim doc. Therefore, Breaker.

Seconding Quinn's request, though that's enough to warrant a Dannex. Still waiting on Breaker's answer

That makes the most sense, yes. Though I'm not discounting that they heard it from the elim doc.

PM safety, not claiming in PMs. A bad example of this would be saying your role to the first person you talk to in PMs without thinking about it. I repeat my question, who told you Araris was dangerous?

At the same time, it can be obvious if a tie suddenly comes in force and both parties flip village. The person(s) involved in the tying would be looked at and I don't think the elims would risk that early on. They definitely want a tie, but wouldn't say that outright or go to great lengths to create one for the shade it would throw on them. This, though, is a legitimate worry. We should be cautious of an elim Cambric; one of those would make it much easier for the elims to use Breaker's worry.

Welcome Breaker! Actually I think the village, DSI, are more capable of controlling the vote because of our larger numbers. The elims can calculate their votes more, but we have greater numbers and largely control who gets exed unless it gets very close. So as you said, avoiding ties would probably be nice. Out of any cycle to have a tie though, C1 would be the best. Brainstorming elim strats isn't the greatest look, but I doubt an elim would post in-thread their thoughts. Those likely would go straight into their doc. So in this case I don't think it reflects evil of you. I think that was an impressive starting post. Looking forward to playing through the game with you!

Yeah, I probably won't be active that much tomorrow and the 25th. Today is likely normal, and the 26th should be back on track. They're siblings, so I assume IRL at some point.

Haha yeah that's a fair reason. From what I've seen reading older games the meta has changed a bit (...or maybe a lot, depending on what) so this makes sense. I almost didn't call you out, it seemed such a small thing. I'm glad I did though, now I know the reasoning behind the post. I'll poke Dannex. Come and play, @Dannex!

Just when I got a post in before I went to sleep I, likewise, stand by myself and Striker's guess of four elims, and not just because I also was one of the QF48 elims . I think the conversion mechanic isn't strong enough to warrant three with a 17 players list. Striker's original reasoning is here: Terminology is good, though poke votes- I'm assuming that's what this is- typically are placed one someone who hasn't posted yet. Though I could definitely see you making an exception to that for the pun This rings slightly off to me; it sorta seems vague and is a lot of 'I'm maybe gonna do this...' I've never played with you before though and as far as I know you could start out every game like this regardless of alignment. Always assume the exe will hit an elim C1. Always.

xD Two questions, answer them now, after the game, or not at all: Can we see the complete first player list? Can we know how you broke it?

Hello! Here now. Gotta say I agree with Striker on this one. Three seems too low with a player list of 17, even with the possible conversion. Xino does make a good case for 3, though. Additionally, with a quick recheck of the rules, the elims get a conversion if the spy dies at all, so they don't need to be the one to kill them. Out of all the roles, I find the Cambric the most interesting to me. I've never played with that specific mechanic and I'm interested to see how it will play out. (Also going to add the 'kill them politely' tag earned my upvote before I read the fantastic writeup )

Maddy winced slightly at the abrupt motion, though she supposed it was better than barging in. Typically she wouldn't care about the loud knocking, but she always seemed to grow less aggressive the closer she came to Lord Douger.
