  1. Maddy shrugged. “That’s what I’ve heard.”
  2. “Maybe a little. My Veil should hold up, though. “Do you know the plan moving forward? It sounds like they... are going shopping.”
  3. @The Ward's Guard
  4. Maddy jogged over to where Colonel was standing. "What now?" @The Ward's Guard
  5. "Maddy. From the army a couple of islands over. And no, not really." Maddy caught Trace- no, Janice's eye, and waved.
  6. Maddy didn’t know how long she laid there. After getting thrown back a third time, her strength had failed her. She couldn’t really move. Gradually it came back, but she didn’t move anyway. Eventually the sounds of battle died down, and she thought it best to go see the damage. Cadenza was likely dead; Jay as well. As she stumbled down the beach, what Maddy found was far better. A reunion, it seemed, was taking place. She stayed back. Maddy didn’t know most, or any, of these people well enough. But she smiled, in spite of her self. Mission accomplished.
  7. Maddy leaped to her feet, wincing, and followed where Trace had dragged Cadenza. A true soldier never left an ally behind.
  8. Maddy's head throbbed. The battle had became... an actual battle, in a few short minutes. That shouldn't be a problem for her... but that shoulder. Her Veil stopped what would have been a battle-ending blow for her, but it still ached. She tested it, moving her arm in wide circles. Luckily, Trace had hit her non-dominant arm, so she still should be able to wield her knife and Aspect as usual. Maddy spotted Trace not too far off, battling the man she thought was called Jay. It wasn't going well for him. Maddy leaped forward, letting out two blasts of energy, high and low, fueled by thoughts of what she could do to Trace.
  9. "Confirmed." Maddy's Veil helped a little, though the blow still hurt considerably. She stepped back, weakly sending another energy blast Trace's way. They were losing. How were they losing? Where were the others?
  10. When her knife struck true, it almost caught Maddy off guard. The way this had been going she had expected to miss. Thankfully, Trace's counterattack only grazed Maddy's chin- but the movement still threw her to the ground. She groaned slightly but stood up, wiping the blood off her chin. She examined the smear on her hand, imagining what the shape could be. This in turn fueled her Aspect in a slightly greusome way, though it worked. She shot a blast of energy at Trace and stepped back. "What's our objective here?" She shouted at Cadenza. "Kill? Capture?"
  11. As Maddy ran, she studied the waves. She had learned to multitask with her brain during a battle long ago; her Aspect required it to function at full capacity. The dancing patterns blossomed into paragraphs of description, or bloomed in an image of ink on a page. And Maddy shoved those thoughts into her legs. She flew upward, propelled by the blast in an arc aiming towards Trace. In mid air, she grabbed her dagger from off the strap on her leg and poised it to strike Trace's arm. She didn't want to kill the girl, not yet.
  12. Maddy hit the sand hard but rolled back to her feet expertly. She discharged the Aspect blast she’d been saving and ran forward.
  13. “What about all four of us?”
  14. “Fat chance.” Maddy wasn’t about to run away from this fight. Not after coming all this way.
  15. Please, Maddy thought. This conversation is one I have no part of. Three-on-one, we can take her. She recalled her earlier ideas of architecture and readied her Aspect for the moment Trace broke free.
  16. “I’m no replacement.” Maddy repeated. But then... what was she?
  17. “From what I’ve heard, aren’t you Janice? Or at least share a body? I’m no replacement.”
  18. When Cadenza retreated, Maddy likewise took a step back. No need to get further in over her head. She was here because Colonel asked her to, as a support and an extra fighter. Not to do the talking. Maddy narrowed her eyes. She was getting over her initial shock of seeing Trace appear as she did. When Cadenza froze Trace, Maddy tensed up. She sensed a fight coming on. One with high-strung emotions.
  19. Maddy instantly jumped alert, and nearly rushed forward to apprehend the girl. But this sight of her bloody form and her having addressed Cadenza by name made Maddy hesitate. And... she really was just a girl. So Maddy stood there, watching.
  20. “Ooh ooh I got it: MOUNT SNOW!”
  21. Maddy followed Cadenza ashore, having to wade through the ankle-deep tide instead of skating on the top.
  22. “MOUNT SNOWY!!!! “You know, cause of the snow!”
  23. Snowy looked up, five feet in front of him. “Oh! Hi guys!!!”
