Okay, so I just finished reading (listening to) The Path of Daggers, and to be honest I found it quite dull. It got better toward the end, but that was just like the last 5%. So for those of you who would rather not put yourself through 687 pages of basically nothing, here is a summary of what happened. (also forgive spelling because I am an audiobook person) "Hey Avienda, be careful with undoing that weave or else things will explode" Fix the weather. Another Seanchan invasion "Hey Elayne, be careful with undoing that weave or else...OH CRAP!" Undercover queen "You know Perrin, your life would be a lot easier if you yelled at your wife more." Rand sits around talking to his crazy head friend and his crazy real life friends, while he slowly goes crazy contemplating the nature of craziness and then teleport around while throwing up. Egwene decides that she after all wouldn't like to be a puppet to the hall "Hey look everyone, it's snowing" "Time to wreak mass destruction on both sides of the fight with my magic sword" "I'm back Min. You want to..." *gets beat up by a bunch of offended maidens* The castle gets smashed, literally And Faile gets captured That is basically all that happens. I realize that I probably missed all of the stuff that is important for future books since I haven't read the rest of the series, but this sums up the stuff that was important for that book.

I always thought that since Demoux was already an Atium misting, he was halfway to Lord Ruler style immortality through Atium compounding. With some hemalurgy or some other hack he could have gotten Atium Feruchemy and used that. But now that I think about it, there was no more Atium after HoA, so one of the other explanations is probably more feasible. I don't know for sure, but Atium compounding is my head-canon.

Brothers and sisters in Sanderson, with this year's State of the Sanderson I realized that I am going to be on a mission when both Lost Metal and KoW (Stormlight 5) comes out. They said going on a mission would be a sacrifice, but I didn't realize what extent... -
What did you expect from Rhythm of War, but not get?
Mage replied to WasingtheWhy's topic in Stormlight Archive
Yeah! After Vasher's big reveal in part one and then the siege of the tower, I thought that he would have helped a little more. Kaladin was all by himself fighting this invasion, and there was a perfectly capable (and by that I mean storming good) swordsman, who is also immortal and has magical powers that aren't suppressed by the siblings corruption. Where the heck was he? -
Same thing happened to me. I was reading fast because so much was happening, and I saw the part about an Avatar, and automatically thought Autonomy. I didn't realize who Thaidakar actually was until I got on the Coppermind.

Everyone, I think I figured it out. I was thinking about this more yesterday, when I recalled a quote from the movie Wreck-It Ralph. It is at the beginning when they are in the bad guy therapy group, and one of the video game villains says something to the effect of I think this applies to Kelsier but in the inverse (or converse, someone with more knowledge of logic correct me). Just because he is good-guy, does not mean that he is good guy. His ends and even his intentions might be honorable, but the means (as we have seen with the Ghostbloods and the overthrow of the final empire) are very much not honorable. I think this will make it so that Kelsier will be one of the main heroes of Mistborn, but a villain in Stormlight Archive because Kelsier's philosophy clashes with the Radiant journey before destination philosophy.

I think this is a good explanation. Just like a vessel when they take up a shard. Their body is destroyed, but they can still think. Hoid has probably lived so long and collected so much investiture, that when his physical memory runs out of space, instead of starting to forget things it just transfers the memory into the investiture that is conveniently stuck to his soul. I'm sure some of it was intentional as well, but we don't see Wit transferring his memories after the first time he spoke with Odium, so I would guess that it is automatic.

Thaidakar - Deity of the Ghostbloods?
Mage replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I read the part about Harmony looking for someone who embodied both ruin and preservation as Wax, but I suppose Kelsier fits that as well. -
Great insights. Thanks. I agree with the chaotic neutral alignment for Kelsier. Hoid would probably be a neutral neutral (I don't play enough DnD. Is this a thing?). From the Kelsier POVs that we have I think he has good intentions, but you know what they say about good intentions...

BIG SECRET HISTORY SPOILERS AND BASICALLY EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE COSMERE!!!! (but I think the RoW section is still the best place for it) I didn't know what to title this, because I don't want to spoil anything for anyone scrolling past, but the real title is, "Why is everyone hating on Kelsier?" I guess I am still sorting out my feelings and recovering from the shock of discovering that Kelsier was Thaidakar weeks after reading it, so basically I don't know what I think. However, I don't think that Kelsier is that bad of a person. I think he was at his worst during book 1, and only got better throughout that book, and through SH. All the shardcast people keep saying how much they hate Kelsier, or they like him as a character, but think he could easily be the main villain of the Cosmere. I love shardcast, I disagree with them on this point. I don't think that the Ghostbloods are doing good things. Killing people isn't good, but in Cosmere books killing lots of people doesn't make them a villain (Dalinar, Vin, to name a few). Starting (or joining) the Ghostbloods feels like a very Kelsier thing to do, but I feel like he is not a bad person. Who saved Scadrial from the Ire and Ruin? Who saved the southern Scadrians after Sazed totally screwed them over? Kelsier. I don't know. What do you guys think? Is Kell good or bad, especially considering that he is freaking Thaidakar? Maybe you guys can help me sort out my thoughts and feelings.

Kiss, Marry, Kill (Sanderson Edition)
Mage replied to DramaQueen's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Kiss Hoid from SoS, Marry Hoid from Warbreaker, and Kill Wit. As funny as he is, I am sure that I would feel the same as the Alethi nobility. Someone has probably already done this one, but KMK Veil, Radiant, Shallan- 927 replies

Ok. Just barely finished the book, so I want to post my reactions while they are fresh in my head. Parts one and two were ok. I felt like three and four dragged a little, but storms part five redeemed the whole thing. The craziest parts were probably when Sazed drops the names of four new shards, Felt says rusts, and when Taravangian kills Rayse. I honestly don’t know if this last one is a good or bad thing. I think my favorite line was Navani’s: I think I am still in shock from the revelation that the good old survivor of Hathsin is freaking Thaidakar. We also now know who Restares is, but that isn’t nearly as cool of a revelation as Thaidakar. I think it’s good that Shallan is no longer a Ghostblood (even though I know who is actually leading them). She seems to be improving. Kaladin got his plate! Hooray! Flashbacks weren’t nearly as good as Oathbringer, but they were fine. I enjoyed them as much as Shallan’s. well I have a ton more thoughts but this post is already long enough. (how many years until Stormlight 5?)

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints corner
Mage replied to Kelsier'sGodComplex's topic in General Discussion
I just listened to the prophet's message about hope and gratitude, and just want to say how grateful I am that we have a living prophet who leads our church. You all need to go watch that. It was so good! -
Alright. I think I am going to be going off the forums until I get a chance to read Rhythm of War. I don't know if I am going to buy it right as it is released, so I am at the mercy of my library as to when I am able to read it. I would hate to have it spoiled accidentally, so farewell everyone, and I will see you all in a post-RoW world.

Yeah. We weren't having church anyway, but we are switching from stage three down to stage two. It has been way to long since I have been in church. I'm excited to hear Pres. Nelson's message on Thursday though. -

Thanks for the feedback. I'll get into Gordge's backstory more, but maybe I should give a little more up front so that people aren't confused. And you're right, that other point is a bit unclear. I'll take a look at that and see what I can do to fix that error.

Alright. 10 days in, and I am mentally exhausted. This is so hard to write this much every day. However though, it is crazy how much I have written and I can see my writing improving. This is a mental workout if I had ever had one. It feels the same mentally as running a cross country race. I want to quit, but I know that I can't.

Not really. But I think that it demonstrates what the Guild of Masters is, by showing where they have spread their influence. Armstrong was an agent for the Masters who was infiltrating NASA. After his landing on the moon, he continued to rise through the hierarchy of the Guild until he became Grandmaster. I also feel like it would relate to the reader better. They know who Neil Armstrong is, and can then somewhat relate more to the story. I probably could do it with a fictional character.

I've got something like 17 chapters written, and I have been writing a lot recently, so I figured I would post a chapter a day until it caught up to me. This time though, I did a spell check first, and added some subtle things to contribute to the characterization (I think. It may have been for a later chapter. Don't exactly remember). So, for all interested parties I present, Chapter 2: The thing I would most appreciate feedback on is verb choice, and characters. Thanks! Oh! I just remembered 1 more thing. What do you think of having Armstrong as a character. It might be weird considering that he is a famous historical person, and also dead. I don't know. What do you guys think?

I hated this in starsight, when spensa was talking to Cuna and it referred to Cuna as ‘they’ I was always so confused because I’m used to they as a plural.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Unfortunately the whole Sherlock scene drained most of my funny banter reserves, so there is less of that in the next chapters. but in future drafts I’ll try to add more. Any ideas would be appreciated. I’ll explore Caesars motivations more in the future. It is more than just bringing back Rome. I just don’t want to give away caesar’s identity yet.

Okay, so @HoidWasTaken, you pointed out to me that I was coming up on 100 posts. Thanks for that. Knowing me, I probably would have blown right by that without even knowing. I couldn't think of any great memes, or unifying theory of the cosmere, to celebrate this. Instead, I figured that I might post some of the novel I am working on. It isn't fantasy (sorry). I know we are all fantasy fans. I have a fantasy series planned, but I am currently working on a sort of sci-fi, thriller, detective...it doesn't really fit in a genre, but think Mission Impossible, but in a book and with more character development (don't get me wrong, I love MI, but the characters don't really change at all, they just shoot stuff and climb things). So, I guess for my 100th post I'll post the prologue and chapter one. Don't judge. Well, do judge. I appreciate any feedback, but this is a rough draft, so grammar feedback isn't as important to me at this point. But uh, here goes I guess: Swear words have been *ed, for your protection , and yes Gordge is spelled the way it is on purpose. Thanks, Mage EDIT: I said that I would post a chapter each day and stuff, but then I realized that this was an unrevised first draft, and therefore not very good. I am almost done with the first draft, and once I get some basic revisions in, then I will post more and ask for more feedback from you guys. Thanks!
