  1. So I was thinking about cosmere based humor recently, and realized that in one of the earliest interludes in WoK, Brandon gives us the perfect set up for a joke, namely: Gallodon Demoux and Baon walked into a purelake tavern. I think this set up has potential, and was wondering if anyone had ideas for a punchline? My idea for the end is: They asked Ishikk if he had seen a certain man with white hair. Ishikk replied that he hadn't seen him, but he'd Hoid (heard, but mispronounced) of him. That is the best I've got, so I need your input.
  2. This project looks awesome. I've always wanted a good mistborn game. I just have a few questions. Is there a macOS build for this, and are you willing to post the source code for collaborative purposes? Thanks for putting forth this effort, I look forward to playing it.
  3. Why does Lessie like the tropics? Because of all the Paalm trees. hehe
  4. I was just wondering if there was an explanation for why the names in Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell all sound very English, and the only other cosmere name that sounds English that I can think of is Wayne. In the Arcanum Unbounded postscript Brandon says that Silence was the name of one of his ancestors. Did he just base the rest of the names off of that Puritan style? Is there an in-world explanation?
  5. by speed I meant both steel and zinc, I just generalized into one word. Sorry for the confusion.
  6. This is true for the most part, but personally I don't think gold or tin, or the speed ones would be very fun to store in, except maybe in the case of a disguise or something
  7. Rioter. Not the worst outcome. I wouldn’t pass up the chance to be even more manipulative. Zinc compounding would be useful though.
  8. I also have a few questions. Is wasing spelled with 1 S or 2 like wassing? Also, is ising not a word because everything is in past tense? And last question, how do you indicate a subject other than yourself?
  9. Sign me up. This is awesome! Thanks @Channelknight Fadran for putting this together.

    question on investiture

As far as I understand it, the investiture in a nicrosil mind is non-specialized, so it can be tapped to fuel any form of magic (and I believe that if it is unsealed then anyone can tap it). A pewtermind however is filled with strength investiture and if sealed can only be tapped by the person who filled it for the purpose of becoming stronger.
  11. Yep. My father has not read any Sanderson, and therefore doesn't have a 17S account
  12. The selish magic systems just sound like way to much work. I am not normally a lazy person, but I don't think the abilities granted by AonDor or Forging are worth the time you would have to spend practicing to get the shape just right. So on that note I would definitely choose feruchemy. I think it is one of the coolest to read about because of the way it uses Sanderson's 2nd law. The limits of having to store the attributes before using them make the magic so interesing. But also like people have been saying it would just be one of the best ones to have for practical uses.
  13. I would add TLR to this list as the stake president or maybe an area authority that is seen so infrequently that rumors and legends start to circulate.
  14. Okay. Thanks for pointing that out. Now you’ve got me thinking about how different classifications of metals correspond to the different realms. I’ll have to think on that more.
  15. I wrote this before I saw the thread on atium+electrum which is related to what I am saying here, but this goes a bit deeper. Note: None of this stuff is backed up by any WoBs, this is just straight from my head I have recently been thinking about the relationships between the 4 temporal allomantic metals and atium, so I thought I would put all these ideas in my head onto paper in essay form. Most of these ideas and theories originated from that fact that Ruins god metal happened to be time-related. It makes sense why the pre-catacendre allomancers wouldn't have made the connection that atium didn’t fit into the nice 4 groups of 2 groups of 2 that they have discovered in era 2. (I guess they didn’t have that whole diagram, so it makes sense that they wouldn’t have known it.) Basically the point I am trying to get to is that bendalloy and cadmium are the right and proper counterparts of gold and electrum because it makes more sense based on the relationships between other allomantic metals, and atium has certain properties that make it stand out from the other metals. First, using the relationships between other metals as analogies. If one just looked at the enhancement section of the allomantic table you might think that atium fits right in with gold. Aluminum leeches your own metals, and chromium leeches the metals of others. Electrum shows the future of yourself, and atium shows the future of others. This seems like a fair analogy until you look at the rest of the table where we see a more widely applicable pattern. The pattern is that internal metals affect only you, and external metals directly change something in the world around you. Pewter only directly affects you, while steel can directly change the outside world. Bronze gives you information, while zinc can change another’s emotions. That is the problem with atium. It does not directly affect the world around you, it only gives you more information. Bendalloy and cadmium do affect the world around even if they don’t make as nice of a pair as aluminum and chromium, but these are really the only ones that do. Lastly, atium needs to be a god metal because of its special properties. Most obviously is the way it grows. Since when did metals grow in geodes? Even if most Final Empire scandrians didn’t know about the perpendicularity (most of them didn’t know about what the pits were for either) they still could determine that something was seriously wrong with the way that the metal developed. The next reason is probably wrong, so someone please correct me, but I think that seeing the future is a property of the spiritual realm, and therefore burning atium to see the near future implies a stronger connection to the spiritual realm than what a normal metal could give you. Therefore atium is a god-metal, and god-metals don’t fit into the allomantic table. So to conclude atium is not one of the temporal metals (we already knew this, but these are just more reasons why), because it should be an external metal but doesn’t affect anything externaly, and second it does things that only a god metal can do. Thanks for reading my rambling thoughts, I just thought I would get this out here. I would also appreciate it if people could find WoBs to either support, or disprove any of the things I said.
  16. Did I mix that up? I thought bronze was for seekers, zinc for soothing and brass for rioting.
  17. YKYASF when you miss your curfew and try to use allomantic zinc to lessen the punishment.
  18. On the subject of similarities between Vorinism and The Church of Jesus Christ of LDS, did anyone notice the similarities between the Vorin thing of choosing a calling in life, something they want to get good at, and the new youth and children program? I know there are lots of differences, but it seems similar to me. And tWoK came out 10ish years before the children and youth program.
  19. Okay thanks. I think I understand now.
  20. Is there a limit to how fast you can tap a metalmind? I was under the impression that feruchemy was only limited by the amount of attribute that was stored, but not the rate that it could be released.
  21. Okay, let me get this straight. So theoretically it isn't impossible, but it is practically impossible and we likely won't ever see someone doing it.
  22. I read the WoB, so Brandon says that it is impossible, but why exactly could a steelcompounding Edgedancer not have near infinite speed? They could pull tons of compounded speed all at once, and without the restrictions of friction that should be able to go as fast as they want. What am I missing?
  23. Okay. Thanks. That makes sense. Odium kills the shard and the vessel, but Ruin just killed the vessel.
  24. I know that Odium has splintered many shards across the cosmere including Ambition, Devotion, Dominion, and Honor. What is the difference between what he did here and what Ruin did to Preservation. Or are they the same? Could someone pull a Sazed and take up any of these shards? Also, I know that the returned breathes are considered "splinters" of Endowment. Is this in any way related to splintering or is it just a coincidence. Thanks!
  25. Whatever worshiping the One is called. Oneism maybe?
