I don’t think it would be a bead/mist/whatever it is on Nalthis. I think the beads appear only for uninvested objects. People appear as candle flames on Roshar, and just straight up glow on Scadrial. It would probably be some sort of glowing but corrupted thing. I like the big black flame guess. (This is talking viewer in CR and NB is PR)

Has anyone else noticed that warbreaker uses the word universe instead of Cosmere like Stormlight or Mistborn? Do you think this was intentional, something to do with Hallendren linguistics, or accidental because the Cosmere was younger when Brandon wrote this? Lastly, do you think they would change it in a reprint (this question is for all you leatherbound owners)?

Project Rosette - Mat's Attempt at Writing Something

All good. I'm probably judging this too much based on just a couple chapters. I eagerly await the next one. -
Project Rosette - Mat's Attempt at Writing Something

Alright. I like where this story is going, but I feel like Thomas's character is not very distinct. After just reading that I don't think I could name a personality trait of his. So I guess I would enjoy this story even more if you made his personality a bit more obvious, kind of like you did with the hint about rock climbing. More of those subtle things that let us get to know the character. -

Very nice. I am intrigued by the prologue. The language is excellent and the dialogue feels natural. Would you be open to a bit of constructive criticism? -
So there is. It looks like there are a grand total of three posts there. Anyone down to cast off the non-intervention policy of Frost and the 17th Shard and join Master Thaidakar and his Ghostbloods? (and I'm only kidding about casting off the Shard. This is one of the best fan forums that I have ever seen.)

In a meta sense we are all members of the 17th shard. @Thaidakar the Ghostblood are you recruiting from here? If so I would totally be down for becoming a Ghostblood. (We should start a rival forum called ghostbloods.com In response to the question about size I think there wouldn’t be more than 100 members per year planet, and probably less on places like Threnody.

I love that! It is so meta and hilarious. Kelsier is one of my favorite characters and Moraine is pretty good too. That comic also makes so much more sense now. It was good before but now it’s even better.

Well he wrote both, but I don’t know if I would call it a crossover since WoT isn’t in Cosmere and vice versa. He’s the connection between them, but you are writing the crossover fanfic by taking characters from one and putting them in the other. On the other hand, it would be very interesting to see if Brandon wrote non canonical stuff, just as an experiment.

WoT spoilers I like the Cosmere WoT crossover. I wish there was more fanfic stuff like this.

Yeah, that is the one that seems the most likely to me. I still wonder what would happen if they both tried to summon Honor's perpendicularity in two different places. I really need to reread that Ishar scene.

In response to your Weird Thing #2, I don't think that all Shards exist in everything, at least not always. Once they invest in a planet, their Investiture is physically there. Ruin and Preservation however, permeate all of Scadrial, because it was their essence that created it in the first place. But I like your visualization about the focus and radius.

So I was listening to the Ishar Shardcast, and they mentioned this topic, and how it was weird, but never got into any of the details or made any speculations. Therefore, I pose the question to you all: How the heck did Ishar open a perpendicularity, and what was the nature of the perpendicularity. First, some of the stuff we know. Elsecallers and Willshapers have the surge that allows them to open a small perpendicularity: transportation. However, Dalinar, a Bondsmith, has opened Honor's perpendicularity using his Spiritual Adhesion to unite the realms or some mumbo jumbo like that. We know that Ishar has the Bondsmith Honorblade and is not restricted by Honor anymore, and therefore can do all sorts of scary stuff. Second, some of the stuff we don't know, but can probably guess. He probably isn't using Cultivation's or Odium's perpendicularities. Cultivation's is stable in the Horneater peaks, and Odium is invested on Braize and probably wouldn't want to Invest himself to the extent of giving someone the ability to open his perpendicularity. With all of this in mind I have a couple of theories, but little proof of either one. Ishar is also opening Honor's perpendicularity. It isn't unreasonable to think that two people can have the same ability. An Honorblade is of Honor, just like the Stormfather is. (I wonder if he and Dalinar could open it at the same time (if this guess turns out to be right)). Since Ishar was the one to initially bind the surges (probably using the same Honorblade), now that Honor is dead he could just as well un-bind the surges. I don't know the mechanics of "binding the surges" but he potentially could change the way surgebinding worked for his blade or for him, and granted himself the surge of transportation. Those are my most reasonable guesses. I also have some more out there ideas of which I will make a brief list Hemalurgy While manipulating Dalinar's Connection to the Stormfather he briefly took the ability to open Honor's perpendicularity Nightblood??? Let me know what you all think (or if there is a known answer to this that I have totally missed). And I am proud of you if you actually read all the way through this massive post.

With some clay you probably could make a decent shattered plains. Maybe some war camps and a chasm fiend. I don't have any specific instructions (and I myself am horrible at hands on school projects) but that's an idea.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints corner
Mage replied to Kelsier'sGodComplex's topic in General Discussion
Today is a happy day because someone in our meeting today made a Sanderson reference. We were discussing Elder Renlund's talk and the problem of evil and how a loving God can allow evil and trials to exist in our world. I started thinking about the end of Bands and Wax's conversation with Harmony. Then a person started talking, and mentioned that exact thing I was thinking of. It was beautiful. -
I have realized my inner Wayne. I am on a two day trip to the BYU track meet, but I brought three different hats. Three hats for two days! I might have a problem, but then again so does Wayne.

I think which piece regrows, in the case of miles, would also have to do with which part of him had the investiture. If he was tapping a metal mind, then probably the part that had the metal mind, and those would probably be on his arms instead of in his ears. Or in the case of him burning his metal minds for the preservation-boosted healing, then probably the part with the stomach because that is where the investiture is being released.

Alright. You've convinced me. If I could I would change my vote to Gavilar, though Moash--my original vote--is still in second place for me.
-
I very much doubt that it would be Gavilar. The nice thing about the Cosmere is that you can resurrect characters by either not having them die in the first place because of magical healing (Jasnah), or invest them right after they die like the fused, or a certain Mistborn character who will remain unnamed. However, once they are in the beyond, they are kind of untouchable. We haven't seen Gavilar walking around as a cognitive shadow anywhere, and I am pretty sure that Odium didn't invest him to Braize, so I think he is irretrievable and in the beyond. It would be interesting from a story point of view. Brother v Brother and whatnot. It would be awesome, I just don't see it happening.
