  1. What did Kelsier say in the Pits of Hathsin? Oh snap.
  2. Sorry if I'm...um (*tries to find an appropriate, witty metaphor* *fails*) bringing up a bad topic (*cringes*) but... Kataang or Zutara? My vote goes to Kataang
  3. Is it only the Aviar that can manifest abilities after eating the parasites in the Patji's fingers? We know that Sak, a non-native bird was able to develop powers. But is it limited to only birds? I think there's a WOB about humans not developing powers after eating them, but what about other animals? What is special about birds that allows them to access the investiture?
  4. I misread this as you had started AND finished TWoK this morning and I was incredibly impressed, then I reread it. Oh well. Impressive nonetheless. Welcome to the Shard!
  5. Iron is by far one of the best characters in all of pop culture. But seriously, Avatar is one of the greatest creations ever. It has flawed, realistic characters and one of the best redemption arcs EVER. Everyone should watch it at least once in their lifetime. Is Korra worth watching? I tried it a few years ago, but could only get past a few episodes. The world just seemed so different and it was slightly off putting for me. I did watch the Avatar Wu (is that his name?) episodes and enjoyed those.
  6. Anyone else taking AP tests? I'm taking three and oh boy it's gonna be crazy. AP language has been reduced to one rhetorical analysis essay (which is the type I'm worst at), AP US history is one reduced document-based question (thankfully fairly easy), and BC Calculus is two free-response questions. I was banking on multiple choice to get my score up, because my understanding of calculus is zero. Anyway, the tests are online and 45 minutes each. They are also open note, which I think is strange. Just because we're at home we can use our notes?? I feel like that will make the history essay much easier, as you don't feel pressured to memorize EVERYTHING, just have a list of important historic events. I also wonder how they will detect plagiarism or cheating, since there isn't an administrator to supervise the students as they take the test. What do you guys think about the 2020 AP test format? Idk if anyone will even read this, but I just wanted to put some of my thoughts down.
  7. I agree that a more serious style would be better. Something like Death Note or a Studio Ghibli inspired style would be better opposed to a sillier anime.
  8. True, although they could go with an American company with an anime-influenced style, such as RWBY or Avatar the Last Airbender. But yes, a cosmere anime will probably exist only in our dreams.
  9. I wholeheartedly agree with all these points. I'm not a huge fan of live action to begin with, and I think a Cosmere-wide live action series would be a disaster. I would also worry about the quality of CGI in a live action. Even with the best CGI, you can tell it's fake and it kind of takes you out of the moment. If the whole movie or show was animated, you don't have this problem. I've always thought that the Cosmere would work very well as an anime (able to go on for hundreds of episodes, flexible art style, AND the characters already have built-in tragic backstories?) It's perfect
  10. This is beautiful! I love the color contrast.
  11. OK, so this has probably been pointed out before, and people are probably tired of The Girl Who Looked Up theories, but here I go. First: the hair. In Shallan's version of the story, the girl's hair changes to white mid-story. This is reminiscent of the Royal Locks on Nalthis. White hair signifies that a person is afraid, which fits in with the story - the girl had just started climbing the wall, which was a daunting and fear-inspiring task. The scarf. Shallan notes that the girl has a "vibrant red scarf." Brandon doesn't normally put in details like this unless they are important. Color is the base for the magic system on Nalthis. Note that it wasn't just a "red scarf", but a "vibrant red scarf." I find this detail to be important, as it reminds me of the way colors are described in Warbreaker. Perhaps the girl is an Awakener? No light. This is small, but in Hoid's version of the story, he emphasizes that the land had no light. Because of the darkness, the normal people couldn't see the wall. But if the girl was an Awakener of the Third Heightening, she would have been able to distinguish the slight color change of the shadows where the wall was. Anyway, that's just some things I noticed. Is the theory true? Most likely not. Did I spend way too much time thinking about this? Yes
  12. Wait no choir??? That's always one of my favorite parts. At least they have the pre-recorded music. It's going to be interesting to see how the brethren organize it.
  13. @Kelsier'sGodComplex Thank you! Renarin is also my favorite. Also I love your profile pic
  14. @Channelknight Fadran That's a tough question. I'll probably have to go with words of radiance.
  15. Greetings people of the 17th Shard! I love Brandon Sanderson and making fanart, so quarantine has been good for me I've already posted some art before making my official introduction (whoops) but wanted to let y'all know I exist!
  16. Drawing done with alcohol markers. I tried to make it look like real stained glass, but that proved difficult RIP my white gel pen
  17. First post on 17th shard! Drawing of Spensa and Doomslug I did a while back.
