Mike immediately turns towards the newcomer, stepping defensively in front of Erin. He tenses up slightly when he mentions sacrifices, but is mostly confused. "What?"

I should probably wait it out. I'm just starting university, and don't get know how busy my schedule will be so I'll pass for this time.

BYU has some advantages, most of that being the spiritual opportunities available on campus, but also some downsides.
Spoiler(One of those being what seems like a unfortunately higher rate of members who attend not holding to the standards of the gospel or trying to "cheat the system". I'd like to be clear that I think this is just a small part of the population but soaking and going to Vegas for a weekend marriage did come from BYU)
However, a much bigger deal to me is that the school I plan to attend is considered much better for the field I want to be in and STEM fields in general, it's close to home and I get an automatic 50% off on all tuition, and there is a really strong church presence on campus (Almost all of my mentors in the church work for the university or are/were students there).

Pxe shrugs. "Okay, I don't really care what you do." He grabs a nearby stool and starts working on a blank spot on the ceiling.

"No, it's okay. It's just not something I've ever really shared with others. I've never really had anyone to share it with." Mike looks over at Erin then back at the path in front of him. "All of my families abilities come with some way to protect their host, but a certain ritual sacrifice bypasses that protection, allowing us to then be killed quite easily."

Mike looks down. "Like I said, my family has a lot of... problems..."

Mike takes a deep breath. "Okay." He starts walking, and goes a little ways before starting to speak. "Well, as I told you there are certain things that I can't heal. You already know about one of them -- anything with spirits and possession -- my powers are useless against. But I've never really told anyone else the other weaknesses to my powers because if I did...well, they could use it against me." After a short while longer, he continues, "Also, if someone is injured through sacrificial means, my powers don't work."

Mike once again stops walking. "Oh, uhm... Are you sure you don't want to grab some food first? It's kind of a long story..."

Mike was unsure what to do, so he reached out and placed his hand on their shoulder for a moment, hoping his healing warms them for at least a moment. "Hopefully we'll get to the town soon." "Dude, are you gonna help or not?"
