  1. Introduction Welcome, welcome! Whether this is the first post you’ve seen from me, or you’ve known me for years now, let me introduce you a project of mine I've been working on for a while. I’ve always wanted to write a fantasy series. One I could share with the world, my magnum opus—words that evoked emotion! This is not that. I've been writing stories since I was three, and I've been writing them on the computer since I was eight. I had hundreds of unfinished stories (mostly fanfictions) in my folder... but they have since all been destroyed. All those memories are now, permanently, lost to time. As a tribute to that, I decided I was going to create the Knightverse. The Knightverse is a collection of 11-12 short stories that take place in a multiverse. Each short story centers around an original character of mine, each story taking place in a completely different universe. Most of these universes aren’t mine, and so by definition, most of the Knightverse will be fanfiction for certain pieces of media (Cosmere, Harry Potter, Star Wars, etc.). Other stories will take place in universes of my creation, or with the help of others. The books are connected. This is by no means my magnum opus. After realizing that to learn to write good, I needed to first write bad, I decided that taking on this project would help me get some good practice in. And that is, ultimately, what I see these stories as. Just, practice. I'm not asking for constructive criticism, but it is welcome. However, if you'd like to read them—feel free to! Right now it's looking highly unlikely I'll actually complete this (with imminent life changes, and all that), but, well, I at least have one so far! 1. "Syndicate of the Stars" — set in the Cosmere, by Brandon Sanderson [11,018 words] [WARNING: This fanfiction will spoil elements or plotlines from The Stormlight Archive, Mistborn Era 1, Mistborn Era 2, Warbreaker, and possibly unintentionally other cosmere things. A basic knowledge of these series is, unfortunately, almost required to enjoy the short story properly. I apologize for the inconvenience.] In this story, we follow the adventure of Kelly Razier, a Scadrian worldhopper and aspiring interplanetary salesperson. The story takes place before Alloy of Law. I think there may be some minor cosmere continuity mistakes, but if there are, it shouldn't matter because technically this is a variant universe of the Cosmere! I have many criticisms of this story, but instead of dwelling on it I will simply take what I've learned and try to make the next one better. And without further ado, I present to you the short story (as a Google Doc). 2. Work-In-Progress
  2. yesss I think @revelryintheart has met her too
  3. If I were an artist, I'd totally draw this scene.
  4. I've been on fire recently as far as writing goes.

I'm working on this one short story (surrounding a character in my ever-expanding fanfiction multiverse) that I've been struggling to get written for a long time. I would write "Chapter One," then lose interest, then come back to it and say "I need to rewrite Chapter One." This repeated a couple times until I finally wrote it good enough for me to look at it with satisfaction and call it perfect.

...then I realized that I'd forgotten it needed to be a short story, and not first-book-of-a-trilogy-epic-fantasy prose. So I promised myself, alright, this is going to be the last rewrite.

So basically the last three days I've been writing 1500+ words each day, and if I do so tomorrow, I might have the story done! I might give it another day or so for edits, but then I'll make a thread + status update here on the Shard so y'all can read my fanfiction short stories, if you would so desire.

The one I'm working on is set in the cosmere universe and is probably the only one where preliminary knowledge of the books is needed (but that'll be less of a problem here on the Shard then on Discord :P). Just stuff like basic Era 1 and Era 2 knowledge, Warbreaker knowledge, and Stormlight (up to Words of Radiance, preferably) knowledge .

Okay now I'm just rambling and I don't know how to end this, but I think you get whatever point I'm trying to make. Sorry. It's past midnight for me. Have a goodknight, whoever you are that mysteriously read my status updates, and also, "my life to yours my Breath become yours" to anyone who's actually read this far, mwahaha.

1500+ words a day is actually really impressive.  I can't wait to read the stories when you post them

  5. I have maybe a couple but the biggest would probably maybe be Vivenna. So what I'd do if I met her is, actually, I'd run. What am I doing there with the likes of Vivenna? I'd politely say my goodbyes and book it to the next planet over so as to save myself the social anxiety and possibility of embarrassment that could come with social interaction with someone that I like. I hope that answers your question.
  6. BRO NO WAY Myself does that to me all the time. I hate 'im and his face.
  7. I really, really, really, really, really hate people sometimes.
  8. I don’t know what this thread is but we are 1 away from reaching 25 yeses.
  9. Yeah, it is. There's a weird English way of making that work. I suppose I just read it the one way, when it may not actually be clear which way it is to be read. I suspect that maybe it's more common for someone to call our church/religion/doctrine/teachings Mormonism than for someone to refer to the Mormonism movement, but still.
  10. While it can be argued that Mormonism is a movement that encompasses multiple religions, the post called the gospel of our church specifically Mormonism. This is the official style guide for the Church, which states that to refer to the doctrine of our church specifically (as was mentioned in the post), it is inaccurate and should not be used. Though referring to the overall movement which lead to the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the Community of Christ, and this church, etc. may be considered academically accurate. Also, I'll add that I don't believe we ought to be 'triggered' unless the terms are trying to be used in a derogatory way or something. Naturally, people will have a hard time understanding why it's important, and I like to be understanding of that.
  11. I have so much to decide, not much time to decide it, and I have no idea what to do or what I'm doing.
  12. I drew a picture, I call it My Thoughts, because every layer/color tells a different story of something I have to worry about. It's been a couple weeks or so since I made this, and every day now I have another few layers I need to add on to it, but I think there are enough to get the point across.

These days, I'm becoming everything that I hate.

People are hard. Life is hard. I'm trudging through it. So much is going on and I have no clue what I'm doing, or what I'm going to do. I hate it.

Thanks for reading my late-knight ramblings, whoever you are.

I will now proceed to curl up and my body will undergo the complex secretomotor phenomenon characterized by the shedding of tears (higher in chemical composition with prolactin, adrenocorticotropic hormone, Leu-enkephalin, potassium, and manganese) from the lacrimal apparatus until enough endorphins (oxytocin and endogenous opioids) are released to "numb" me and to dull the emotional pain enough for me to go to sleep.

    Spoiler

AKA I will cry myself to sleep.

I wish I could be helpful to you at this time. Sadly, I'm too drowned in my own problems - and too bad at helping others with emotional issues (or any issues at all) - to actually have a reason to think I can be of help.

      I wish you well.

You're great, Koi. Sorry you're not feeling good :(

Also, if there's any way I could help, I'd be happy to try.

  15. Lately I've just felt so terrible at everything, and I don't know what I want to pursue to actually be good at.

    Currently I desire to have:

    • Written two books and eleven short stories.
    • Learn to program video games and create one in an original world.
    • Learn to make music and create theme songs for my original characters.
    • Be an original Minecraft YouTuber based around custom lore and storylines.
    • Be an original Lego Stopmotion YouTuber recreating parts of original (and not) stories.
    • Learn to art, then create pieces surrounding my original worlds.

    Where I'm at:

    • It's been two years and I have a total of four chapters towards all my writing projects. Yeah.
    • I watched twenty minutes of a learning JavaScript tutorial, followed along, forgot all about it forever.
    • I moved out and don't even have a piano to mess around with anymore. Not that I was any good at it.
    • Everything I've ever done in Minecraft is unfinished, much less the one video I vaguely planned.
    • I made one video, but I don't have the supplies to make it as great as I want it. Or the time.
    • I literally only drew this down below, nowhere near the style I desire. I look and I cry.

Remember that your worth is not determined by any of the above things - you're still a really cool guy regardless!

You're still better than me at all of the above. Also, your art is actually kind of cute!

My dude, I am stuck in the same rut as you. All I can say is that you shouldn't stop. I can't count the things I've tried where I've been vaguely good at, but I gave up for some trivial reason. If you find something you think you might enjoy, keep at it.

That was my issue. I found something I thought I liked, but then various outside forces forced me to stop trying it out for about 5 months. Because who knew that it would be difficult to bind books when your house is getting remodeled?

Keep trying new things, my friend. If you find something you like to do, move heaven and earth to keep at it. That's the best advice I can give. Fortunately, it's free of charge. But you know what they say, you get what you pay for.

      ;P

  16. Just took the Knight Radiant quiz again and I turned from a Truthwatcher to a Lightweaver, very interesting and seemingly opposite.

I don't know what I'm supposed to do as a Lightweaver... lie? Do art?

Although I do admit it would be seriously cool to bring the worlds inside my head to life with Lightweaving...

  18. Funny ☑ Educational ☑ Good singing ☑ Awesome ☑ 10/10
  19. I really do want to watch it, and there exists a paid service that works with streaming services (Amazon Prime included) to provide filters for that kind of stuff. So that's how I'll be watching it, one day. I need new a new favorite character now since (C3E3):
  20. I'm not a fan of strong violence or language so I'm going to wait to watch it. I've watched like the first ten episodes of Campaign One before I trailed off. Now, I'm deciding to keep up with Campaign 3 and so I've gotten to episode five of that. I can actually listen to it while at work now so it's going smoothly.
  21. I feel like maybe doing another lego stopmotion.

(this was my last one: complete with updated thumbnail)

And I just had the idea I could try and animate some of my D&D adventures...
